Que Sera Sera: Episode 7
Episode 7 was so much better than Episode 6! I couldn’t quite put my finger on what felt off about Ep 6, and have the vague sense that perhaps there was too much plot maneuvering for us to get into the characters… But Episode 7 kicked ass. In fact, it kicked Episode 6’s ass. Then, Episode 7 chewed up Episode 6, spat out the unsavory bits, and absorbed the good to come out strong.
Have I overhyped the episode enough yet?

I agree ! Episode 7 kicked major ass!
The relationship between all four characters are on the surface now. Episode 8 can really go in ANY direction. I am at the edge of my seat when they were in the storeroom and Tae Joo’s last line means that he is OUT of the contract, doesn’t it? I wish wish wish he doesn’t get trapped in Hyerin’s contract again.
But….Hyerin isn’t any dumb person. She has her cunning ways and I really am anticipating at the same time concerned what she will do next to everybody. OR Joon Hyuk…he is still the mysterious person, free for the QSS writer to manipulate in any way. I have a feeling that he is going to turn out more capable of tricks than Ms. Rich-and-bossy.
About Eun Soo…hmm…eventhough I admire her dignity and her strength to stand up to obstacles that come her way…but don’t you think, Sarah, her words to Tae Joo are quite hurtful? I can’t say those words to a person that I love or used to love…Does she hurt as much when she says those words? Tae Joo is trying to help as much as he knows how…but apparently he failed. He really should try to be more sincere and reveal his heart to Eun Soo….Both of them need a heart-to-heart talk!!! Till when are they going to stay like this? Hurting each other with words that both don’t mean necessarily.
I miss those sweet, happier moments from older episodes…let’s stop the hurting…
wow this episode was full of surprises!! i really can’t wait til i get to even see the show!!!! thanks for the recap! i always love you’re lovely pictures, i must say that eunsoo has definitely grown in my eyes. she doesn’t seem as ditsy as she was before!! whoo for her!! ^^
Hm, interesting take, ginnie. I didn’t see Eun Soo’s words as too harsh — or rather, harsher than Tae Joo deserved. They are both talking to each other more bluntly these days, it seems, stripped of pleasantries and frills. But I see it more like speaking the cold, hard, truth rather than being purposely hurtful. I see Tae Joo trying hard to engage Eun Soo and help her, and as the audience it’s obvious to us that he’s not intending to mock her or belittle her. But from Eun Soo’s perspective, things look a lot different… It’s like a boy pulling a girl’s hair or tormenting a girl he likes: it’s cute from an adult perspective, but knowing the boy’s feelings doesn’t make the poor girl suffer any less.
Who knows, maybe I’m just a cold-hearted cynic! Because when Eun Soo said the line about TJ having an empty heart, I loved it. I definitely feel for Tae Joo and want things to work out for him in the end, but I think he needs to suffer a bit first, and I love how they’re handling the relationships. I’m so glad the week ended with ep 7 and not 6! Like you, I was squirming in the last segment, thinking, “Oh, this is SO NOT going to end well…”
Nah..you are not the cold-hearted cynic..I am just bad at accepting the fact that Eun Soo and Tae Joo are not going to be happy for a little while now…Tae Joo is going to suffer (I can’t get used to this jealousy stuff yet) and Eun Soo’s going to rub salt onto his wound because like you said, she might be doing this unknowingly. Tae Joo’s acting like a little boy in front of Eun Soo not knowing what effect he has on her…
In some ways, they are the most honest couple so far though. Take away all those politeness and trickeries, they are being honest about what they say to each other..the other couples TJ-HR , JH-HR , JH-ES…are still not completely honest with each other…yet.
for sure the dynamics will change again in episode 8!
Your guess is as good as mine!
thanks sarah for the quick update.:)i loved your “overhyping” for this ep,cuz you’re right,it really kicked ass! watching the ep again with this new knowledge in mind will make it so much more interesting and meaningful(and intense) for me.and i agree,Tae Joo really does need to suffer a bit for him to learn, and so far i liked the way the writers are doing it for him.but they are really good at keeping us hanging at the end, didnt they?like ginnie said,Ep 8 could be going in ANY direction..drats i cant believe i have to wait another week for whats gonna happen next.
this drama is really diff. from traditional dramas, both from the characters and the plots. this is the only dram i watch recently. but for the 6,7 eps., i felt depressed after watching it. because i really don’t wanna see Eric in that kind of position any more. hope like javabeans said, in ep 8, the whole drama will turn to a new direction.
i think Tae Joo is getting what he deserves. when he broke up with her he told her that it was because she kept bothering him, that’s why he agreed to “date” her and that he doesn’t really see her as a woman. she said she understood and that she was sorry. now that she’s keeping her distance he’s the one to keep pestering her. i like that she’s not forcing herself onto him but instead is forcing herself to get over him.
Wooohhhoo!! That was one kick ass eppie. As my comment to what ginnie was saying, i think it wasnt at all harsh and sometimes i like seeing the more truthful side of things rather than beating around the bush and sugar coating stuff. I think it was just right and i liked to see that TS realizing everything is a good thing and maybe a lesson that needs to be learned and the way things are playing out makes it even more exciting to see. its really interesting to watch them and their dynamics, they are really meaningful their lines to each other. i like the fact that it can be cynicaly real and yet subtlely sweet at times. thanks sarah!! just made my day. happy easter to you!
Javabeans, thank you very much for your blog. You should keep it on the internet forever.
lime9, I agree that TJ is just getting what he deserves, after he told ES that he did not see her as a woman. Ooh, man, if someone said that to me…
Thanks Sarah again for this.. Like u, i totally dig wat Eun Soo said to TJ..i was like yeah! he needs tat..
The only ting i hate abt this ep is that they didnt give us any preview for Ep 8! Darn!! Now we all have to go cold turkey for the whole week to noe wat is gonna happen nxt…
i dont why, but i really have a hard time of posting today, is it because i post too much, anyway. ill post again
thanx very much javabeans for sharing the unpublised ost in the drama with us. i really appreciated it. i am sometimes obsessed with those songs, when i addicted in one particular drama. this is one of the example. recently i began to find those songs too, but only found 3 of them so far. id love to share with everybody.by the way, javabean, would u mind i post your songs on my own post?

It’s always a joy to read your summaries. I also want to add that I love your song selections. You just converted me into a Nell fan. Thank you for everything!!!
Yeah! You are right. I can’t wait for this Saturday.
man i am really really glad that ES is no pushover or else the plot would be just so predictable. i think that TJ is still confused about what to do with his feelings and perhaps, he’s uncertain about what and why he is feeling like this as well. wonder how things will go from here!
thanks for the wonderful synopsis (:
Nell is one of my favorite Korean bands…the lead singer is so yummy!!!
Eun Soo: Sometimes I’m really curious if you have a brain inside that head of yours. Are you really thinking straight?
God, I loved her in this episode so much spunk, so many catchy phrases she used. Oh man she was on the ball in this episode. I bet she’s smarter than all of them combined. I just loved her….yeah ES ROCKS, TJ eat your heart out. Doesn’t he realize she’s the only woman who gets to him…yeah his head is really empty at the moment…that’s because his heart is so full of ES and he doesn’t even know it. JB you rocks as usual. Nice to see lots of people leaving comments for you these days!!!
Ok people don’t hate me, but I like to see where the JH and ES relationship will go. The attention he is giving her is making her stronger and she in return makes him smile, laugh, this is the first ep where he looks a bit happy. And they are both comfortable enough with each other to be honest..he even showed her the mysterious photosthat a bit of trust there.
Eun Soo:
Sometimes I’m really curious if you have a brain inside that head of yours. Are you really thinking straight? Ha ha love it..
I think that comment was so deserving and not really harsh, Hyerin was a bitch on wheel running around trying to control a situation that she a clearing losing control off and dragging TaeJoo along like a fool.
Sarah, after this eppie if started wondering about the title. Que Sera Sera, what will be will be. I know this is supposed to be a modern love story type, how people their lives nowadays. Im just curious the relation of the title to the actual meaning or characters. Does it speak of their mindsets? That kind of thing. What does the PD really want to show with the way the drama is heading? Lol, this is really rambling
AGREED with everyone else, this episode definitely seemed to have kicked ass
Thanks so much Javabeans.
I’m really glad that the characters aren’t pushovers either, I really can’t stand it because it becomes too unrealistic and irritating. I think the director is really good that way, bc even in SamSoon no one was a pushover, no one gave in just to give in, they were all intelligent, capable characters. I’m loving Eun Soo’s character.
wow i agree with ginnie… joon hyuk is the character i worry about most, bc he can turn into this really bad character, or into a really good one. no one knows. those pictures… i think it has something to do with his past… something he did bad in the past. but i so hope not! hes my favorite character becuase i feel bad for him, you know? in a previous episode… forgot which one, i really felt for him bc he was surrounded by his work while the girl he loved was out doing who knows what and he missed her, etc. i felt his loneliness…
oh well! thanks for the recap!
I REALLY enjoyed this episode.
*but I’m confused about something~
Was Eunsoo being sarcastic or serious when she was saying that she wanted to win Joon Hyuk over?
Gahh;I really hope she was being sarcastic ;x
I love all the comments here! It makes me so glad to see that QSS has such thoughtful fans.
Here are my opinions/thoughts:
Hyunjee, I’m sure Eun Soo was being sarcastic about wanting to win Joon Hyuk, because she’s definitely not that opportunistic. My take is, she’s mocking Tae Joo’s own shallow morals by flinging his own actions in his face to show how unsavory it sounds coming from her… and they just happened to be overheard.
I actually predict that Joon Hyuk will understand Eun Soo’s position and not actually believe that she was being serious. In an ordinary drama, they’d play the misunderstanding card, but with QSS I think I give the characters more credit. If anything, I’d really LOVE to see JH realize that the conversation is really about Tae Joo — and now that he knows the Hye Rin-Tae Joo relationship is fake, it’ll shift his relationship with Princess Brat.
As for the title… I’m curious too. The meaning itself is fairly clear (“Whatever will be, will be”) but I wonder if the title is meant to be meaningful or if it’s just a title that doesn’t have much to do with the actual series (example: titles that have deeper or significant meaning – What’s Up Fox, Dal Ja’s Spring. Titles that seem arbitrary and not specific to the story — My Girl, Lovers, Only You)
Hey, I was wondering where I could find QSS? I just can’t see to find ep 6 and 7 on youtube, veoh, dailymotion or crunchyroll…i am a wee obsessive…lol. Thank you
I think the title’s meaning will come about in later epsiodes, it like n/sync with how life is whatever will be, will be…so there is no use driving yourself crazy over it. But being humans we don’t get that and we do drive ourselves crazy over things we can’t control. There is that element of Faith, faith in yourself and faith that true love has no boundaries. That if you love someone and if they love you in return that love can be the catalyst that helps you come over any obstacle. Love isn’t guaranteed that is why when you have it you should keep it close and cherish it because it could be gone in the next second. Also I think it means that you can’t force things to happen if it is supposed to happen it just will. So I think the title is about having faith and hope that everything happens for a reason!
o mg this is getting really interesting.. oh where did u waqtch epi7 i can’t find it anywhere…
where can i watch the 6 & 7 episodes????
can someone PLEASE send them to me??
Thanks so much for everything you wrote to let us understand more about this K-drama..It’s getting better and better now. The four-relationship makes me curious..I can feel that Tae Joo is concerned too much about Eun-Soo.
Tae Joo: So you’re saying my head’s empty?
Eun Soo: Or maybe it’s your heart that’s empty.
Oh, I love that. I love the way Eun_Soo replied to Tae-Joo now.
I finally saw ep. 7.. gosh its sooooo good.. i wonder what Joon Hyuk and Eun Soo’s gonna to talk about??? i think it should be on the terms of. “Oh, Tae Joo was the one that u have been hurt about”. and blah blah blah…. as mean as this sounds i hope that Joon Hyuk starts with Eun soo..these 2 hurt souls need a partner that will take care of each other.. oH Ican’t wait.. hahahah
Jiji, you can watch ep6 and 7 on veoh – http://www.veoh.com/videos/v372594s7RChfCf

omg this has got to be the best episode so far i’m gonna go watch it now :}
Javabeans I really need your help T_T
I fell in love with the song at the beginning of the episode (when Hye Lin leaves the office and goes in her car)…
Maybe you know the title or help me find it T_T
I’m really desperate @_@
Thank you and sorry to be a burden :-s
Jennifer, are you talking about “Tattoo” by Clazziquai? It’s posted here, toward the end of the entry: http://javabeans.wordpress.com/2007/04/01/que-sera-sera-episode-4/
I’ve just found out too…..after searching it for so long…
I should have asked you earlier x_x
Thx for your fast reply !!!!!
I guess i’m a little late in adding my thoughts…but, i still want to. i finally decided to give this series a try and i must say that i am INCREDIBLY glad i did. at first, i was hesitant because i have no idea who any of the leads were and the main actor (eric) was a bit of an arrogant ass right from the get-go. but i am now incredibly addicted.
episode 7 was really really good. but there is one bit of a disappointment for me. the fact that in order for this story to evolve, eun soo becomes something she is not. she no longer is the bubbly naive country girl that was first introduced. at the same time, i am glad she sticks up for herself, i still feel sad that due to her involvement with tae joo, she has become a bit like him (kinda mean and vindictive). but regardless, will keep watching and reading dramabeans caps as i go. dramabeans, u should write caps for every drama. ur insights are so interesting. u should consider a career in writing. u have a knack for it.
JAVABEENS,
i really need your help. I love the song that is played when hae lin and joon hyuk talk in his office about how eun soo is working in his apartment. I know it i not ‘tattoo’ by classiquai or any of the others songs that you have posted.
i would be very very grateful if you knew this song. i have been trying to find it like crazy.
sorry to bother you with petty requests. hope you don’t mind.
thanks!
One thing I really love about this show is how you can see the characters evolving – Eun Soo especially. Unlike Lily (#37, who commented… 2 and a half years ago >.>) I enjoy seeing Eun Soo change. It’s true she’s no longer the naive country bumpkin she was in the beginning. Can you imagine the Eun Soo of Episode 7 wearing the same clothes she was in Episode 1? Definitely not.
There’s another thing I love about QSS: the characters actually SHOWER. Ya know how every kdrama has at least one shower scene? The character, usually the male lead, closes his eyes and sensuously runs his fingers through his wet hair? But in QSS, Kang Tae Joo actually SHOWERS.
