Ahem. I decided to try, purely as a writing exercise, posting up an Air City summary that was (gasp!) completely devoid of negative comments. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I could do it, and having seen Episode 11, I think I picked a tough one to do, but hey, it’s a challenge.

As a totally unrelated aside, I found out what the phrase “bore you to tears” means. It’s kind of obvious, but I’d never thought about it — but it’s all those tears you get from yawning so much because you’re so bored.

Like I said, completely unrelated.

Although we’re presented with Gi Chan’s “fiancee” — the woman long-designated to marry Gi Chan by both sets of parents since they were young — Episode 7 is really not much about her, which I appreciate because I like that Bad Couple has thus far strayed away from cliched love triangles.

Thankfully, things lightened up a bit this week! As much as I’m enjoying Flowers For My Life, last week was starting to bum me out because it was starting to get sad. At least we have a lot of sweet moments between Ho Sang and Hana here, and I think I’ve figured out a way (in my head, that is) that this series can end logically but satisfactorily.

Woot woot! I marked my 100,000th hit (well, I was lazy so it got pushed to 150,000) with some House Rulez. Speaking of whom, have you checked them out yet? They’re awesome. I still have them on heavy daily rotation.

Now this blog has seen 500,000 hits (I can’t even really wrap my head around that number; I feel like I’m blogging for about thirty people, lol) — and what better way to mark the event than with lots and lots of songs? Thanks everyone for reading along! It’s all thanks to you guys that I got sucked so readily into blogging. It’s an addiction, I tell you.

Whoever says Korean music is worse these days than it used to be isn’t looking hard enough. Sure, mainstream pop acts might be as trite and uninspired as expected, but I think Korean music is undergoing rapid diversification these days, splintering off into many previously unexplored genres and subgenres. It’s an exciting time to be experimental, I think. So here are some artists who are a little left of center —

Oh, and this episode tells me her name is actually Lan, not Ran (the Korean letter used doubles for both “l” and “r” and I don’t know Vietnamese to have guessed Lan). But I’ll stick to Ran for now to stay consistent.

If I hadn’t committed to recapping this series, I’d have jumped off the train and stopped watching, if not by Episode 6, then definitely this weekend. I still love Lee Jung Jae to bits, and find his acting is still top-notch in a sea of mere adequacy, but it’s not like I can’t appreciate his hotness in pictures and screencaps, rather than video. Plus I’ve got all those episodes of Feelings (Neukkim) to catch up on, and he’s barely aged in all these years anyway. I’d stop giving myself these self-inflicted headaches, and just read someone else’s recaps instead. Ah, irony.

Eye candy is what Air City has going for it, and in many scenes, I’d find myself zoning out and musing, “He has great cheekbones” (agent Min Wook), “Nice profile” (Lee Jung Jae), or “I like that hairstyle better than the one he had last week” (Min Wook again, and Ha Joon).

Does anyone still watching think this series is good? I’m not being sarcastic (for once), I really want to know.
