I was shocked by reading this: 4.5GB of outgoing transfer in one hour!
Perhaps they're not hackers, and I don't think they were trying to harm the wonderful blog, for they like the songs you post, too. But they should be ashamed for doing this too.In my opinion,it is something of stealing.
Maybe you haven't heard this.In China people tend to use a download tool/software called Thunder to download files, which can automaticly search for the files by "hacking" into other website and continously attempt to connect to the stealed links.Just as hucm90 said many websites in China have taken measures to forbid this.To use Zshare OR Sendspaceis a good choice.
Thank you for your good job again，and Good Luck~~

Hi
I don't think you should put the songs back up. It will just create more problems for you. If you still want to post songs, then you should continue using other sites, such as sendspace.

I don't like it when those people try to hack into other servers to steal links. They should know not to do that. I worked with other websites and we had the same problems of people from Asia (mainly China) trying to direct link to our files. It's become such a pain!

Even if they do not understand English, it is still no excuse for them trying to hack into your files and steal your links. They should know that is WRONG.

I love your website!!! Thank you for sharing so much with us.

Anyone who gets video and music files online knows enough english to know what they are or are not doing. Even if you had 'no hotlinking' in big bold letters, they would understand, but one person not caring will just spread the links anyway. So I'd rely on freehost sites, so your server doesn't get overloaded.
Your site is very thorough and well-made, so don't make it more stressful than it needs to be. ^_^

Javabeans, I was doing some reading the other day and found out that the Chinese government likes to monitor everyone's internet usage and sites people visit. In order to do this, they place large amounts of users behind a blanket IP (this is how they were able to block or filter entire sites, like www.livejournal.com). Maybe the masses of people from the same IP is due to that reason? Then again, maybe the hackers are from the same region.
Anyway, I hope your problem gets solved soon.

Dear javabeans, your blog is very popular in China, and even your Coffee Prince novel is being translated into chinese.

I am Chinese, and you may have another sight afer reading my opinion.

First, i don't think any chinese want to do harm to your site, the just be used of do things like these. In China, run a site is not easy(because of the legal problem and the money problems), most of sites are run by companies. And, most servers can easily overcomes the IPs floods as you face now (even we use some simple hacking tools). In another aspect, the IPs floods may be a good data for its shareholders. So, most chinese didn't realize posting urls of files from a site will lead to a problem.

Second, any good resources will be spread quicky in China, especially K-drama resources. It is not hard to find 10 or 20 forums discusing the k-dramas. As one get the url of your blog's BGM, he will post the url in a forum (i have done things like this before, but it is a daum blog), and the url will be posted in 10 or 20 other forums quickly. Totally, thousands of people will down it. Moreover, some people will set the url as he own blog's BGM (as many blog in china didn't support uploading BGM). If the url is from a big site (myspace, daum, naver, ect) , the results of it may not be serious. But once the url is from your site, your will face a big problem.

i propose my suggestion here:
1. Creat a blog in a big site.
2. Upload songs into that blog, may be some forum will be ok too.
3. Get the url of songs.
4. Set the url as BGM in this blog.

Afer these steps, anyone try to download BGMs will visit other site, your site will stood away from download attempts. and this is what we do in some blog in China.

thank u for puting up with my poor writing skills.
