Overseas love for Kang Ji Hwan, and not just from me
I love Kang Ji Hwan. Not merely because he’s both adorable and sexy-hot (not necessarily a combination easy to come across), but because he’s the type of actor who stands out no matter what he’s doing — whether it’s period romance (Capital Scandal), fluff romantic comedy (Exhibition of Fireworks), or tragic tearjerker melodrama (90 Days’ Time to Love).
It’s not just his charisma or acting talent, but some unnameable combination of both.
And so, I will find any excuse to post hot pictures of him, using the flimsiest of reasons to do so. (This image, btw, is used in one of my headers.)
According to the article posted below, Kang Ji Hwan is currently in Japan doing promotional activities for several of his series — his prior dramas Be Strong Geum Soon and Exhibition of Fireworks earned him popularity with Japanese audiences (read: ajummas), and two more of his recent series, 90 Days’ Time to Love and Capital Scandal, will soon be airing there. There’s also some interest in the upcoming fusion sageuk drama Hong Gil Dong, which he’ll be starring in with actors Sung Yuri and Jang Geun Seok.

And, just for added warm fuzzies, the article points out that Kang Ji Hwan has received a lot of praise for his loyal devotion to taking care of his parents as the family’s youngest child. His mother’s also famous for sending homemade kimchee to the people at his management company in a warm display of thanks and affection.

강지환은 24일 일본 도쿄를 방문해 현지 잡지사와 인터뷰를 진행할 예정이다. 특히 인터뷰 이후에는 현지에서 개설을 앞두고 있는 자신의 홈페이지의 막바지 점검도 할 예정이다.
강지환은 ‘굳세어라 금순아’, ‘불꽃놀이’가 일본에 방송되며 큰 인기를 끌고 있다. 특히 ‘90일 사랑할 시간’과 ‘경성스캔들’까지 곧 일본에서 방송될 예정이다. 또한 강지환이 주인공 홍길동을 맡은 ‘홍길동’ 역시 일본에 선판매가 논의되고 있다.
강지환은 추석연휴를 가족과 함께 보내지 못해 아쉬움이 크다. 강지환은 1남 1녀의 막내로 평소 부모를 극진히 모시는 효자로 주위에서 많은 칭찬을 받아왔다. 강지환의 어머니 역시 해외로 장기 출장을 떠나는 강지환 소속사 직원들에게 직접 김치를 담가, 챙겨주는 등 정이 많은 화목한 가정으로 유명하다.

Me too!! I especially like him in 90 days and of course Capital Scandal which I watched purely because of the KJH and the cool Gisaeng (can’t remember her name!). The drama itself..oh well whatever ^^ (Don’t hate me, just that it has too many whatever moments ^^)
Neways, If I haven’t said it enough, I’ll say it again. KJH is one fine actor. And he’s really good in crying sene. His tears and emotions were amazingly real. The way he did it makes me want to be there and hold him LOL!

Javabeans, it’s always healthy to indulge in superficial fangirling over a good looking man - as long as you don’t loose sleep over him (… or have you?). It’s that killer smile and boyish charm, yeah? Seriously, i do like Mr. Kang Ji Hwan. He’s quite a versatile actor. I agree with you that he does have substance beneath his poster boy and wallpaper/banner-potential image. Hey, here’s one instance where i don’t feel so pervy for liking an actor cause he’s actually someone who’s around my age bracket. I did not watch any of his other works besides Capital Scandal, but seems like he’s quite a prolific actor in the last few years. My first impression: good character actor.

..lol actually i first noticed him when he come out as that doctor in Dances with me which mostly people only rem Ji sung and Eugene but not that doctor whom eungene like in the intial esp . but i did ^^and as i see more of his performance in other dramas [ Be strong guem soon , 90 Days Capital Scandal ] ..i can only say this actor put his passion into acting ..at times he almost explode with such raw emotions ! .but so enjoyable watching him . he has that irrestiable appeal .! i am happy he is being recognised more and more ! and of course shall wait for Hong Gil Dong.!

^ shirley, me remembers last i heard it was pushed back to early next year so that it wont conflict with all those saeguks showing now. it wont be squished in with all of them and the ratings wont be too bad. im excited about that too.
i wish i could see his musicals! im sure he was great in them. he’s very charismatic especially on stage id think.
back to Mr Kang Ji Hwan, ahhhh i cant say enough about him. i really really love him. after seeing him early them watching Geum Soon (csubbed) but yes he is superb.. after CS i loved him even more for his acting. his goofy smile, his cute actions, humor, dancing(?), singing(?) and acting. 90 days was such a tearjerker is was hard to watch KJH but yes he was way hot there also. he is so versatile and so appealing i wouldnt be suprised.
after hearing, he is such a good son and such. im even more glad to know that he is more than his image. i know from the interviews he is humble already and a good friend and actor.

Because I watched KJH first in Capital Scandal, I didn’t like him as much in Be Strong Geum Soon. What’s his best work? And is 90 Days worth watching? I heard it’s a weepie; apparently the crying starts from the first episode and never ends.
Where is luckione? LOL! I first saw KJH in CS and fell in love with the show because of him. So adorable! Shirley, now I gotta go back and check out Save the Last Dance because I remember the doctor character, but had no idea that was KJH! Very funny! KJH almost makes me want to watch 90 Days. I too think it sounds too sad. I dld it because I am a Kim Ha Neul fan, but then deleted it without watching. One of these days maybe I will get around to watching it. He was superb as Wannie in Capital Scandal..his expressions, be it funny or sad or serious are very convincing..can’t say any better than what you’ve said.

thundie, hm… good question! i actually don’t have that many. there are a lot I can appreciate for acting talent (kim myung min, uhm tae woong), and some for their pretty faces (and bodies, hehe; hyun bin, lee dong wook), but there aren’t that many i’m fangirly about. in fact, you might’ve just listed the three — lee jung jae, jae hee, and kang ji hwan. the men in my headers are, sorry to be superficial, chosen purely on the artistic merit of their photos! lol. (i’m actually not a daniel henney fan — really, really not — but the man takes some gorgeous photos.)

At first watching Capital Scandal I thought he was a bit dorky, but as his character(Wan) matured and how he was able to bring out Wan’s emotions, it changed my opinion of him. His facial expressions and his way of being Wan is just so adorable. I am looking forward to see him in future series….
I don’t know anything about this actor but after reading all your comments I decided to watch Capital Scandal and see for myself if he is indeed a good actor.I hope I won’t be disappointed.

Kang Ji Hwan has got to be the next great korean actor. He can act, is very charismatic and makes you weak at the knees. What more do you need in an actor?
