Kim Ah Joong’s face honored
200 Pound Beauty actress and rising star Kim Ah Joong was recently awarded Elle Style’s “Hot Face” award. Well, with that much plastic in it, I guess they couldn’t call it a “fresh face” award. The Hot Face award goes to the star who found herself most in the spotlight in 2007 and was decided by fan and judge voting. (Hot face + hot spotlight + plastic beauty = make your own melty-face joke here.)
Past recipients of the award, which started in 1997 and applies to international stars, models and designers, include Madonna, Charlize Theron, Kylie Minogue, Helena Christensen, Marc Jacobs, and Vivian Westwood. This year’s ceremonies were held in Hong Kong and featured many stars from Asia; other Korean candidates included Boa, Lee Junki, and Jeon Ji Hyun, but Kim Ah Joong was the only Korean honored with an award.

Garina Project - “Tell Me Tell Me.” Hm, I didn’t realize when I posted Garina Project below that I’d have a Kim Ah Joong post coming up so soon! Oh well, variety can suck it. This song was apparently used in Kim Ah Joong’s Pantene CF, although I haven’t seen the CF myself. By the way, there are rumors that Kim Ah Joong was first selected to be Eun Chan in Coffee Prince but had to quit because her Pantene contract forbade her to cut her hair. THIS IS FALSE. Coffee Prince’s director Lee Yoon Jung even spoke out to stop the erroneous rumors, saying that Kim Ah Joong hadn’t been selected as the original Eun Chan. She was one of a few actors whose names were considered in very early planning stages, along with Jung Ryeo Won, but neither actress was ever offered the role.

I admit that I did like her when I was watching “200 pounds beauty”, I did find her pretty. However…yeah, the more I watch her, the more plastic she is. It’s just so unnatural, don’t know how much plastic is there but I’ll jump off the window if she’s natural. BTW, ever since her hit movie and couple of CFs, she is pratically doing nothing and keep being under the spotlight. wth !?
And the rumor, I knew it wasn’t true. The writer and director’s taste aren’t that bad, is there anyone would believe Kim Ah Joong was a boy even if she shaved her hair off ? Or the chopstick Jung Ryeo Won could carry Gong Yoo.
Frankly, i don’t think Kim Ah Joong’s face is all that hot. there’s something about it that bothers me..
I don’t know why, but I don’t like Kim Ah Joong. I feel like someone else should have got that award, because I don’t feel like she has the hottest face. Anyways, when I first heard the Coffee Prince rumor with KAJ I thought it was strange because I remember YEH saying she didn’t have to cut her hair, but she wanted to rather than wear a wig… because the character was too charming not to go all the way (lol something to that effect… not those exact words). Anyways, I miss the coffee prince gang. Javabeans, please let us know once GY leaves for the military.
I think she’s alright. Not so much of a fan..didn’t think her performance in 200 pounds was exceptionally good or great..anybody can play that role. Well except for the fact that she had sacrificed for the role..that’s it.

Hate to say this but i’m still waiting for Kim Ah Joong to prove that she’s not a one-hit wonder. 200# was entertaining but was nothing special (i didn’t quite agree with the movie’s conflicting message). I do give her credit for having some natural comedic talents; her singing was ok also. Hot/pretty face (natural or synthetically- enhanced) does not always equate to appealing and charming. BTW, does she have more than one facial expression?

Her acting in 200 Pound Beauty was nothing spectacular, however her I really love her singing voice.
Personally, I don’t care if a star gets plastic surgery. If it’s a major change downward in the middle of their career, I’ll wouldn’t like it. But if it’s before their major career and if it doesn’t look bad, I don’t see why everyone hates it. That’s one thing about Korean culture that I don’t agree with.
Didn’t the Korean press say that she was a natural beauty along with Song Hye Kyo and some other women?? I almost fell off my chair when I read that? How can anyone believe that she had no surgery??? Then, I saw a pic of her when she was in highschool (?) where she’s kinda fat, before surgery and man, she so looked different!!! It looks like she spend at least 100K on plastics. I’m not saying it’s wrong to do plastics, just don’t pretend you didn’t and don’t accept an award for your “beauty” when it’s manmade!

There’s a link to her high school pictures, and pictures of her with a friend. You can judge for yourself. Plus, high school to where she is now is a long time, and people’s faces can change. Makeup does a lot to your face, and changes your eye shape and so on. Makeup can totally change peoples appearance, and in high school photos sometimes you look dreadful (no makeup rule). I know my pictures look horrifying. Don’t assume until you have definite proof =D
hey, i kinda like her too…. i was really shocked when i heard about her plastic surgery….. i liked her very much ever since i watched 200 pounds beauty…. i really dont care much…. anyway at least her voice is real and thats what i like about her… her voice is totally amazing….. i’m not really sure about that rumors on her face… is it really plastic?! did she ever have plastic surgery? i hope not!!!

I think she got plastic surgery just for her nose and teeth which makes her face look fake but the other parts of her face look quite natural. And she has a natural beautiful voice, lucky her.

well plastic or not, i guess elle is considering more of a look of certain character. if it was a beauty pageant then i would say, what the….? you said lee jun ki was one among the chosen celeb… hmmnn… I would have preferred him. I like Jung Ryeo Won too but I think when its an issue of fashionable beauty her’s come out to be too pretty for me to exude such character most fashion expert seek. I remember in one international pageant the one’s with dimples don’t usually make it.
