But actually, British modern rock is like how people describe bands similarly with the term Britpop - aka Coldplay, Keane, Travis (like you listed) and could be considered a genre by the word "British", since they're distinctly different sounding from any other modern rock band from say the US or Canada, for example. Because "British" differentiates the sound from say other modern rock bands in the US that sound nothing like British rock, which do collectively have a similarity that ties it together as a genre. Cool news.
