Lee Junki’s Thai welcome, five thousand strong

Now, this is what I call a warm welcome:

As you may recall, actor Lee Junki was set to open his official Thai fan club, and received a royal invitation to participate in the annual Christmas light festival and the king’s birthday celebration while he was in the country.

He’s currently in Thailand now, first in Bangkok for the official fan club opening — with an initial, immediate roster of 5,000 Thai fans — then heading to Chiang Mai.

SONG OF THE DAY

Gina – “Beautiful Dayz.” It’s kinda pop, kinda R&B, kinda neo-soul (ha, I almost wrote neo-Seoul there). [ zShare download ]

With the chief of the Bureau of Tourism

Afterward, Lee Junki plans to head to Taiwan on the 7th, then to Shanghai, before heading back home.

Wow, that's a lot of people. He must be really famous. Is he related to a korean singer/dancer (a girl, but I forgot her name) that's also with the last name Lee? Or they just happen to have the same last name? Just curious.

Green, in korea, the last name Lee is reeeeeally common. in korea, they have less of a variety of last names than we do, most of them being names like Lee, Park, or Kim. even though they have the same last names, they are in different "clans."

You can not like him, but you shouldn't go so far as to make such rude comments.

I personally LOVE HIM. *fangirl* I would join the fanclub, except I'm not Thai and live in the US. XD so lol. I like his longer hair (in My Girl) a lot more, but he looks cute either way. There should've been more close up pics.

But speaking of which, he actually looks more manly with short hair, so maybe that's a good thing. My god, look at all those people! ~__~ They love him in Thailand, don't they?

yeah, he is famous. His film the King and The Clown was the HIGHEST GROSSING FILM IN KOREA in 2005, until it was taken over by another film in 2006. But it' still the highest grossing film if you don't count after 2005.......Plus, let's see, 2 hugely successful Hallyu series: My Girl (as the supporting guy that doesn't get the girl) and The Time Between the Dog and the Wolf (as the lead.) But I think his popularity in Thailand might actually be as big, if not more, than in Korea.....

I've always had a soft spot for Lee Jun Ki... He's the one that introduced me to the kdrama world! My friend and I ran across King and the Clown one day and watched it... And then we watched My Girl just because he was in it... and everything just spiraled off from there.
Seeing this kind of thing... like this huge welcome from Thai friends.. makes me feel so proud! =D
