Although I do understand people who express their dislike based on sound arguments (after all, everyone is entitled to an opinion, and such criticism is actually constructive), I both dislike and fail to understand the logic of such complaints. So what if it’s merely a publicity stunt or they just want to appear “angelic”? Don’t they realize that they dissuade the stars from doing such acts, only to put them down again when they fail to perform them? Typing hateful comments behind a screen is easy and doesn’t necessitate maturity, but realising that one’s acts online do have consequences in another’s real life needs it. Lots of it.

A country like Korea needs celebrities to promote volunteer work. Yes, it boosts their image but the country needs to raise awareness and charity…So why not take advantage of a celebrity’s public status and put it to good use?

Korean fan are Fanatics in the biggest way and the Anti Fans are just as over the top. Just as some love to love their idols other love to hate them, it us just the other side of the same coin. I know than Jang Nara been doing charity works almost from day one of her raise to ‘stardom’ it is part of her work ethos.
Many stars simply feel very lucky to be where they are and use charity as a kind of evening out of the good karma

that is strange, but i guess celebrities will be criticized for anything and everything, so i guess that ‘you take the good and take the bad’ is true. celebrities should ignore such horrible reactions or at least not take it personally.

Thanks for this article. I really don’t understand why people make such hateful comments upon celebrities who do charitable work. I could care less if it is for attention or whatever, the matter of the fact is that something is being done and for a good cause. Some people just have nothing else to do but criticize, so I hope that these celebrities just ignore them and continue doing what they are doing. Happy new year everyone!

I really don’t get these netizens or antis, whatever they are called. I mean, shouldn’t they be supporting the talent in their own country. I understand that there are some really annoying celebrities out there and sometimes I myself want to just slap them silly, but to go as far as a non-stop attack… it’s just too much. People have died because of them! I wish they would just find better things to do, so what if celebrities donate? At least the money is not coming out of their pockets.

Btw, today is my first day here… can’t believe I hadn’t found you. Thanks for blogging Javabeans, I think you’ll see me around more often

If you want a taste of what American antis would be like, check out jpopmusic. You have to look around, but you can smell the hate there.

Popseoul’s okay, but it used to be much better when the writers decided they weren’t *just* going to hate on the same 5-10 targets. And the barbs aren’t as good as they used to be.

I could care less if those celebrities did it for publicity or not, at least they are doing something good and someone is benefiting from it. What are these “netizens” to moan, complain and criticize their charity work, have they done any better? They should have something better to do with their lives rather than sit in front of a computer or television and scrutinize someone else’s life.

ouch… true, celebrities benefit from their charitable deeds in the long run… let’s not be naive here… i don’t doubt the possibility that there is calculation behind these highly visible acts of kindness… but at least they’re contributing to good causes… what antis think they have to gain from being cynical and vicious about these things is beyond me… they must be jealous, bitter souls…
