Ooo. Good episode.

Was that disdain on the king's face as he looked at the opium pipe? I love how he tight ropes along with his own messed up morals but knowing what good ones are.

I think BOF made me numb to cheesy power ballads played at key moments in drams ;)

For a moment, because of how the camera was showing Eunok, I thought the prince was rushing to save her, but he pretty clearly is saving Gil Dong.

And! I loved that he smiled when Gil Dong made the cracker joke. He may not know it yet, but his humanity isn't totally dependent on her anymore. He's slowly growing beyond his need for her.

And Lady Noh I think is stumbling a bit into Papa Hong and King territory in that she is holding onto something so tightly that she is loosing sight of what it is. Clearly, the Prince doesn't want his allies and friends being shot. She is obviously ignoring that.

Somehow i cannot resist falling in love with Eun Hye. I feel she is the only one who acts like human in this whole series. She feels jealousy, but she's aware of evil too and she has access to her heart. Unlike Gil Dong who burdens himself for Enok's safety, or unless the stupid girl Enok who realizes what love is when she feels for Gil Dong but cannot figure out Chan We's feeling for her. Ha! And that makes another reason for me not being able to adore Sung Yu Ri no matter what!!!
And i hate Gil Dong for being cold to Eun Hye. He might be sad about what she did to him on that night, or maybe his heart is filled with Enok, but still when there is an admirer of yours, even though you may not give that person your heart, atleast care and support could ease their pain? Oh! Well i guess that's something that will never happen in kdramas. Second leads and one sided love has to end tragically, no matter whatever sacrifice you make. That's the first rule of korean dramas. Yet, i can't stop loving it!
Thanks for the recap!

Hi Javabeans =)

Thanks for all the recaps.
Hm, could you please enlighten me, as to why CH prefers to give hints abt his feelings for Yi Nok instead of a direct declaration? (when he knows that she is a clueless person)

(Chang Whe tells himself again that he can manage fine without her — and I might feel more for him if it weren’t for that horrible ballad that always serves as Chang Whe’s mopey-sad-times anthem. It’s that one by Park Wan Kyu on the OST — the one that’s as poignant as a power ballad by a ’80s glam-rock hair band — and is just so emo that I crack up whenever it’s played.)

I have to say I completely disagree with you on this. I love that song, consider it Chang Whe's theme song. Heres' whats funny I fell in love with it when they played it in ep 5 as he was thinking of killing Enoke in the warehouse and have since been hooked.

I like it much better that the Gil Dong/Enoke theme song. For some reason it comes off as too sappy and whiny to convene their relationship.

As far as this goes- he sets the drugs on fire (hm, is that completely safe? Isn’t opium smoked?)

I was wondering the same thing. hmmm..

hello, javabeans! Thanks for the great recap you've been giving us. i wonder what i'll do without them.. he he he... YEY! thank you for giving that wonderful comment to my idol, Chang Whe.. i really love this guy esp. when he tries to control his deep love for Enok. Yiiii, so great! only one thing though, he knows very well how clueless Enok could be and yet he doesn't totally express in words his feelings for her... or probably because he knew that its a battle lost even before he gets himself into it.. SAD...SAD...

When I read this: "Chang Whe tells himself again that he can manage fine without her — and I might feel more for him if it weren’t for that horrible ballad that always serves as Chang Whe’s mopey-sad-times anthem. That is the PERFECT description. Whenever that song comes on, I'm always thinking WTF, seriously?! And now, I can't watch any scene with that song without busting out laughing.
