Ji Hwan! <3
Such good acting, especially at Gil Dong's father's poisoning scene. It was a long moment of silence but with endless and heartbreaking emotion from him. T.T
I agree Dramabeans, I prefer this episode to episode 19. I didn't even know about the big surprises that were going to happen last episode, but I do like this one better. It struck me more, and it wasn't even as dramatic and full on as the last one.
Gil Dong and Enok -- gahh! The drama! But I do feel sorry for Chang Whe too. He's just always there, talking to himself about how Enok doesn't see anyone but Gil Dong. He's always a bystander at Gil Dong and Enok's 'moments', bless him.

He burnt the pouch! NOOOO.

i seriously cried when i realized one of the reasons why the interior minister had been blindly loyal to the current king. during his last flashback, the king promised to become a good one where all the illegitimate people like him would have equal rights as the legitimate. after everything that's been said and done, the interior minister might just have wanted to have gil dong be recognized as his son, also.

i agree with you, javabeans. this episode is really better than the the latter. thank you for the recaps and additional thoughts!

“He must not be her Prince Charming because she doesn’t stir from her sleep.”

ouch

"but on the other hand, when Gil Dong stole a kiss in Enok’s sleep not too long ago, she didn’t stir either. He must not be her Prince Charming either."

double ouch

Argh. This drama is too long now. So many unnecessary details. One I could think of right away (and got very upset by it when I saw Minister Hong died by drinking poison): Why do we have to see him taking heart medicines? Huh! So many useless info all throughout. Now I'm contemplating in just reading your recaps to finish off this series. I got so tired of it. I love Kang Ji Hwan but this is too much!!

1. for some reason chang whe's stolen kiss creeped me out. i DON'T like him. DONT' DON'T DON'T

2. i was wondering like some other people why they haven't used a flashback to grandpa heo's "you're a good person enok" speech... but i guess it doesn't fit anymore since she's transformed into ryu enok.
have you ever read "a julia de burgos" by julia de burgos? that poem reminds me of enok's situation PERFECTLY ... basically julia de burgos is addressing her two selves, the "you" and the "me."

english:
You in yourself have no say; everyone governs you;
your husband, your parents, your family,
the priest, the dressmaker, the theatre, the dance hall,
the auto, the fine furnishings, the feast, champagne,
heaven and hell, and the social, "what will they say."

Not in me, in me only my heart governs,
only my thought; who governs in me is me.
You, flower of aristocracy; and me, flower of the people.
You in you have everything and you owe it to everyone,
while me, my nothing I owe to nobody.
...
When the multitudes run rioting
leaving behind ashes of burned injustices,
and with the torch of the seven virtues,
the multitudes run after the seven sins,
against you and against everything unjust and inhuman,
I will be in their midst with the torch in my hand.
