Getting his drink on in Beastie Boys

Frankly, this movie doesn’t look too interesting — it looks pretty, but that’s about it — but it’s some extra eye candy for those of us watching Who Are You? and enjoying Yoon Kye Sang.

Who, apparently, isn’t much of a drinker. (Or is too much of one? Heh.) At a press conference for the movie on the 18th, he admitted that he’d passed out during filming once because the alcohol they drink in the scene is real. (When are they going to do it Hollywood-style and film using substitutes like cream soda for beer, and such as?)

He explained, “While filming the drinking scene, instead of props, it was real liquor. Sip after sip turned into a whole bottle of liquor, and I passed out like that.”

Beastie Boys centers around Yoon Kye Sang’s “ace host” character and fellow hosts in a ritzy part of Seoul who entertain female clientele and live stylish lives. It co-stars Ha Jung Woo, is directed by Yoon Jong Bin in his first feature, and opens April 30.

SONG OF THE DAY

G.O.D. – “사랑?사랑!” (Love? Love!) I know Yoon Kye Sang’s trying to distance himself from his G.O.D. image and reinvent himself as solely an actor… but oh well. [ Download ]

  1. Ahhh Kyesangie looks so hot….@_@ Seems like this is his year! The movie with Kim Hanuel – “6 Year Love” or something like that, “Who are you?”, and this. By the way I am thoroughly enjoying “Who are you?” Thanks for posting about Beastie Boys and for the screen caps!

  2. the screen caps are delicious…
they are smoking all over the place are they?
… haven’t seen “who are you yet”, but i’ll get to it….
i might sound like a silly fangirl but, “OMG! HE is soooo HAWT!!”
    LOL…well he IS!

  3. What! How on earth could they act properly with all that alcohol in them? I am surprised to hear they didn’t use substitutes. I really don’t see any merit whatsoever in using the real stuff.

  4. he looks so HOT! *lowers her head in embarrassment**

i really liked his acting ever since i saw him in that movie with lee jun ki (forgot the name)… unfortunately the only other drama that i could find with him in it was My Sister in Law is 19, which was so BAD but i made it through mainly because of him…He is absolutely wonderful in Who Are You, and now this? yay! i am looking forward to it and his other film Six Years in Love (?)…

i think i have become a fangirl lol..

  5. his first movie was “flying boys” with Harim from “coffee prince” i think. loved both of their characters in “flying boy” esp. kyesang’s kissing scene~

  6. Oh my!
I really feel like seeing this movie alreadi:)
    Ha jung woo. *heart melts*

  7. Darn you javabeans! Why have you converted me into this mindless YKS fanatic? haha.

Actually, I “coincidentally” ran across shirtless pictures of him today and…..man oh man…what candy? It was puuure chooocolate (ok I’ll stop with my perverted self).

What’s wrong with G.O.D’s image? Does it mean he doesn’t want to be seen as an idol performer?

  8. HELLOOOO SEXY YKS *grins*
ahah thanks for the eye candy Javabeans!

O.o omo..they used real liquor? I always thought they used substitutes LOL..

  9. choram, i think it’s the general tendency for pop singers to have a hard time crossing over into acting. many of them want to be taken seriously as actors, but the lingering pop idol image hinders that (see: Yoon Eun Hye, Sung Yuri)

  10. he’s so hot!!!

  11. Yeah, one of my fellow translated that news into Vietnamese too, and I was amazed with the way they act – drink the real liquor. It seems they drank everyday while filming. Though Korean men are famous for their liquor-holding ability, this is still too much. thanks for nice comment. And YKS looks really hot in the pix.

  12. YKS is very handsome in a boyish way…I’m a bit surprised he’s been acting so much compared to before he did army duty. It’s like you’re never out of work, when you’re with Sidus :P :P

  13. looking hot!

  14. did you see the film?
It was not only the alcohol which was real, the beating, vomitting, the rape and all the extra unpleasent facts were there …

I guess the director wanted to show how gripping violent and real the underworld can be, but was all of that wanted ? he could have cut out some 30 min of the film and still deliver the message right … still, very good acting by most of cast…
