    Enjoying Who Are You?, my tax refunds, and the warm weather …

    Looking forward to the end of May, a new job, and the Hana Yori Dango movie …

    Angry at Gokusen 3 for being the same hackneyed formula as the first two. Even my love for Ms Nakama Yukie (which is considerable) can’t save it this time around.

    I know! the week does fly by when you’re having k-drama fun :)
    I’m trying to figure out how expensive it really will be to live in Hong Kong…’cause I’m going for a year! And busy being excited about that….
    You’re on twitter? I just noticed that. You like it? And no, you’re not old because you like oatmeal! I think thats everyone’s secret shame in their 20s and 30s ;)
    So glad I’ll finally be watching Last Scandal!
    And I’m reading Stiff by Mary Roach, which is probably the most interesting, entertaining and also the most weird book I have EVER read. Its all about what happens to cadavers and organ donors and how they help save our world in all kinds of ways. And Mary Roach is a very funny author, but its amazing how despite that the book always seems respectful and admiring towards this body of dead heroes. I recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have a weak stomach for images of dead insides and gruesome operations and medicine from the 17th century.
    (I just realized how ironic to read this while watching a different kind of dead in WAY. Ha)

    I finally read your “highlights” for episode 15 for Who Are you? I am really getting sad because there are only 2 more episodes and I have to wait another week before I know the ending.
    This weekend here in Southern California we are having a couple of days of warm weather and I am under the weather - bad sinus infection. Well have a great weekend everyone.

    It’s Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No classes, no work except for the pile of homework waiting for me to get a jumpstart on it.

    This morning I made pancakes, eggs; and just chilled to my music and a magazine. It really was a simple morning, but I have not relaxed like that in a long time.

    College is a fucking bitch:)….takes away all the fun out of my life. At least I only have one year to go.

    i agree, mary roach is funny, docmitasha. i always looked forward to her column on reader’s digest but i haven’t picked up any of her books yet. doesn’t she have a new one about sex? i don’t remember if it’s sex toys or the actual sexual practices.

    docmitasha:
    ah, I loved that book! I have to confess my favorite part was how she described the Texas? facility where they test decay rate/method of cadavers that have been buried, bundled up in trunks, or just left out to rot….and all the bodies lined up in various levels of undress, in a parking lot….

    Who knew dead bodies were being used that way? But I remember thinking that it would be a particularly useful (if a little gruesome) way to have my body used when I died - helping out forensic scientists ^^;;; But yeah, I really did like how the book ended on a remarkably moving, respectful and beautiful note.

    Btw, have you ever read M.Gladwell’s Blink or The Tipping Point? For some reason I feel like you are the type of person that would’ve read those books ^0^.

    @gail:
    I think that’s how I started following her, though I have to say one of the reasons I’m able to spot her works is because of her name (immature reference, yes, but it works ;)). There was an excerpt of Stiff in the digest, so I made a mental note to read it, and it was definitely worth it. I haven’t heard about her new book, but I’ll have to see what its about! Her writing style and humor is definitely worth it, regardless of what the subject is, and as is her wonderful curiosity and inquisitiveness that just pokes its head throughout the book.

    @sf:
    Oh yes! That was one of my favorite parts too! I think one of the most disturbing parts for me was the use-as-medicine part, which I won’t go into detail for obvious reasons ;)! But yes, it is a fantastic book and I was impressed how almost each chapter she ended with a nice finale, and it really flowed well and had a lot of moving bits, as well as humor. Great read.

    And yes, I have read Blink! I thought it was excellent and very interesting. Someone actually recommended it to me, and then I bought Tipping Point for a friend of mine in business, but I haven’t read that myself yet. It’s on my ever-growing list. Did you read both? Gladwell definitely has the talent to write about something that we might not read normally, and keep it entertaining, very interesting, and useful too. I still remember parts of Blink when I’m telling people about first impressions and such!

    Oh, cranky, CRANKY! Just worked a MISERABLE week - got home around 8:30 every evening - and there’s more to come. Have to work on Sunday and on the national holiday next Tuesday as well. I love my job but just too many things not working right and not enough hours in the day to get everything back on track… Sigh… Barely managing 1 Kdrama a week - it’s THAT bad!!!

    belleza Says:

    I was looking forward to seeing Epik High again this year (the crowd’s One singalong would have been da bizness!) at the KMF. They and Fly were the best of the under-40 artists by a wide mile last year.

    One is definitely one of my favorite Epik singles, but I think most fans are really anticipating “Epik Nell” (aka Korea’s Greatest Supergroup Never Recorded) on the next Pieces volume. What if Kanye and Radiohead hooked up to remake The Score? Yup, Pieces 2 is anticipated.

    @dramabeans,
    To answer your question, yes it’s mean to laugh at me when I fall off the treadmill. Again . . .

    I think 우산 (umbrella) feat. Younha is my favorite song.

    Umbrella like “under my umbrella-ella-ellla-eh~~” haha….no.

    Epik Nell would be like sick. I would pay millions for that shizzit.

  27. 27
    belleza Says:

    Yeah, Epik High and Nell are mates from way, way back. After their joint gig last year, both sides raved about their high as the sky (Nell), wide as the earth (Epik) chemistry. Here, it’s not one and one makes two; it’s one and one makes One. Epik Nell is the essence of “no genres one music”, new forms and urban hymns for our times. Can I get a witness? :D

    hey! just want to thank you for your prompt reviews on Who Are You?

    I’ve been reading other posts as well, but i’ve never followed a drama review by you so intensely before. Who Are You? is really a very heartwarming and lighthearted drama especially towards the end. i’m also watching On Air, but it is too complicated or rather too much plots for a drama for me and it fails to capture my interest at times (but i will still diligently try to finish every drama)

    when every week begins, i look forward to reading your posts on the show. now, i even watch the raw video and your window will be opened on one side and i can totally understand the whole show w/o the help of subs. i’ve been watching dramas for some time now and i am able to grasp certain conversational sentences :)

    on a lighter note, it’s my first time watching yoon kye sang in a drama. man, this is such a great drama with him for me to begin with! i’m currently downloading crazy in love despite my friend’s negative feedback on the show haha. he is amazingly charismatic in this drama.

    you have become my “must-visit” site daily. hence,

    THANK YOU!

    Was watching Britney’s anime video for Breaking The Ice (which, unfortunately I might actually like) and Noticed right at the begining that the name Hong Chi Woo was written in Korean on a billboard, and then Chi Woo written again on the bomb/timer. I’m thinking he’s the animator or something but I don’t know for sure. Anyone know?

    Love love love epik high’s new album! ;)

    It’s sunday now. I’ve actually been catching up American dramas like ‘Heroes.’ It’s so damn addicting. Already I’m halfway through Season 2 and God help me resist the temptation to finish the last 4 hours of it… I’ve got to finish studying for exams and write my essay on “Native Son.”
    Anyway, the actor who plays Mohinder Suresh is a total hottie. As is Claire Bennet’s (Hayden Panetierre) boyfriend. However, Hiro Nakamuro is my favorite hero EVERR.
