My soporific city, more like

SBS’s drama series My Sweet City held its press conference on May 27, and despite the project being described as a “premium drama,” it’s starting to sound kind of morose.
My Sweet City stars Choi Kang Hee as a 31-year-old everyday working woman whose love interest is played by Lee Seon Kyun in a “normal” and “realistic” story of love and career. Based on the novel by Jung Lee Hyun, the drama is directed by Park Heung Shik (I Wish I Had a Wife) and written by Song Hye Jin. When asked about the atmosphere on set, Choi Kang Hee answered honestly, “We’re not that close.” That took aback reporters, who are used to hearing answers about how well everybody gets along with everyone else; normally a cast of young actors results in lots of chatting and interaction. When a surprised reporter asked Choi Kang Hee if her wording was perhaps misleading, she answered straightforwardly, “No, we’re really not that close… Everyone’s introspective and not that talkative.” That extended to the press conference itself, which is described as being unusually quiet compared to other such events.
Furthermore, work on set is described as having a sort of “natural awkwardness”; reporters asked which cast member sets the mood and lightens the atmosphere on set, to which Lee Seon Kyun answered, “Nobody does.” He explained that it was a good thing — since the cast is composed of quiet personalities, there’s nobody forcing a mood or keeping chatter going: “It’s comfortable and natural, which is why I like it.”
It may be comfortable for the actors, but it sure doesn’t make My Sweet City sound very exciting. We’ll see how that translates in on-screen chemistry when the show premieres on June 6.

wow, just by reading that alone, doesn’t make me want to watch it… i mean, if the cast members aren’t having fun and getting along as they should be, how great of a show could it possibly be?
This actully makes me feel interested in the serie. It looks like the actors are very honest. Also, want to see how well they can act.
i find it interesting. i like Lee Seon Kyun’s previous roles and looking fwd to this one. hope it doesnt tank
They Honestly makes me very interested in the drama too!! There is no “we like each other soo much and became during the time soo close and bla bla” and when the drama starts we see nothing from that closeness on screen. Saying that they are not close doesn’t mean that they don’t like each other it is maybe that they keep the distance and respect each other as actors.
I will defently give it a try!!
hmmm. i’m not sure if i’ll enjoy this one. I’m all for Lee Seon Kyun but I’m a little judgemental towards Choi Kanghee. I feel like she’s a wannabe hippie activist and she changes it up all the time, so shes not consistent with her persona or whatever. but we’ll see. maybe if javabeans shows some interest i could start it up regardless of my dislike for choi kanghee.
Hmm, from the wiki entry, it looks like the actual leads are Choi Kang Hee and Ji Hyun Woo, with LSK playing the rival role. Also, Kim Jung Eun was originally cast for Choi Kang Hee’s part.
This sounds like a troubled production (may be just me, but anything attached to Kim Jung Eun lately . . .), but I guess it promises to be Dal Ja’s Spring, the Prozac Edition. It’s raining rain, not men I guess.
Oh… even though my personality is to be quiet and just listen, oh my gosh… if there were a whole cast of “me”s working together. BORING.
Mmmm…there is nothing boring about Lee Seon Kyun. Sexiest! Voice! Ever! He could read from the phonebook and still make my heart race.
THE VOICE HAS APPEARED!!!
The. Voice.
The tenant in my parents’ apartment has the same voice and every time I hear it… I melt…
So did Lee Seon Kyun hate the atmosphere of CP, or do we assume that was awkward too? Nah, I don’t want to think that!
LOL @tooizzy you beat me to it!
i’m surprised javabeans didn’t mention THE VOICE!
the voice???
yep, THE VOICE
now that someone has mentioned it. i was too shy to admit abt being a fan of THE VOICE earlier… you gals don’t mind sharing him, do you?
now THAT’S HONEST..
@shro,
Yup. LSG is known as The Voice over at Soompi.
Ironically, for such a rich baritone, no musical background at all!
If you saw the director’s work in I Wish I Had a Wife, this mellow atmosphere on set isn’t surprising. He also apprenticed on Christmas In August, so this is their style/idea of romance. I just wonder if it’ll translate into TV rating. It sure worked for Alone In Love. Let’s hope they have their own magic too!
Honesty…that’s kinda refreshing. (: I loved “I Wish I Had a Wife” and “My Mother the Mermaid” (+ The Voice!!!) so I am DEFINITELY looking forward to this.
Hi
Will this drama be subbed?
I’m a fan of the voice too ^_-
cheers
ptn
i watched it and i thought that it was a good drama until Young soo’s little event towards the end. The relationship between eun soo and tae-oh was cute! i wanted them to get together in the end – bummer!!! When they first got together – i was giggling like hell – god tae oh is cute too.
