haha! So you read about Sawajiri's and Nagasawa's infamous rivalry eh? I wonder how much of it is true, though it does seem entirely plausible. Sawajiri especially is notorious for her bad behaviour and arrogance towards other stars (even her senpei's, *tsk tsk*! ) and she deserves the backlash from the media for her petulance on stage promoting her recent movie. Nagasawa on the other hand, looks like sweet person. Can't imagine her being all bitchy and ring-leader of a bunch of starlets, but who knows....anyway, if these two really detest each other, then Sawajiri would find satisfaction in seeing Ryo slap/kick Nagasawa..... :D

Talking about cross cultural collaboration...wouldn't it be fun if Ruka came to Korea and hooked up with Eun Chan? Han Kyul has no chance against the charmingly kakooii Ruka!

@Felicity,

And in fact, it's actually unprecedented nowadays to see 2 top female starlets (i.e. different agencies) cast in the same J-drama. But Nagasawa and Juri (and you can tell she's totally alpha from her interviews) seem to get along FAMOUSLY offset too. (Haha, poor Sawajiri. I guess her "kai" has revolted full stop!)

Anyway, Last Friends -- give or take Ryo's Frankenstein-ish (though otherwise very brave choice and admirable for a JE idol to do this) domestic abuser -- is absolutely fab.

Kdramas are boring these days. I can't find the enthusiasm to watch any of them lately....*stiffles a yawn*

On the other hand, the Japanese doramas this spring season rocks. Change, Osen, Zettai Kareshi, Last Friends.....all very entertaining in their own way. Damn it, I've developed a girl crush on Ueno Juri! Lol, talking about intense, Juri is known for being intense on the set and speaking her mind to directors too. (sorry Javabeans, I can't stop babbling about Japanese dramas/actors/idols lately. Gomen ne? :))

La...kers? Is it basketball season already?

If I never hear the words "sex," "and," "the," and "city" in that order ever again, it will be too soon. SATC makes me feel the way I do when I leaf through beauty mags, i.e. unhappy with my looks, my clothes, my belongings, and dissatisfied with self. Which is why I avoid both.

I can't watch Choi Jiwoo anymore. I think I've developed a tic; eyes roll and jaw clenches of their own accord whenever she (1) wails, (2) cries, (3) whines. Which is, like, always. She's pretty though.

Choi Ji Woo and RSW had done a popular show before Beautiful Days. So this was viewed as a "reunion", when they were cast together.

Oh, that Crowe comparison had more to do with LBH's difficult/intense reputation onset. He's somewhat known for fighting producers, writers, and being very intense with his female leads. If you work with LBH, you bring your game. He has an extremely high IQ, and he graduated first in his class from the KBS Acting School.

He's one of my idols, and I'm not sure how I feel about him being in GI Joe. The Actor who did JSA and Memories of My Harmonium (very good opposite Jeon Do Yeon!) . . . as a Korean ninja?!?

Thanks for the info about the 'guns and roses' and 'heaven' triologies but I normally keep myself away from tear rivers. That's why I still haven't seen the Autumn Tale or Stairway to Heaven despite how famous they are.

I am sort of aware of the BD script change but honestly, who will go for RSW when there is a LBH (I know, I know, there are such people ....) Oh, and please don't compare LBH to Russel Crowe although I'm from Australia. RC is no match to LBH's understated enigma. I tend to think LBH is a cross between Chow Yun Fat (in his hey day) and Leslie Cheung, underpinned by a strong masculinity.

Lucky, I don't have to make the choice between Beautiful Days and Hotelier, a tough call indeed.

@epyc,

Yeah All In is part of the "Guns and Roses" trilogy of K-drama: All In, Green Rose, Time of Dog and Wolf. Because in Korea, when love dies, it dies hard with a vengeance!!!

Beautiful Days was the first installment of the Heaven Trilogy. If you like it, you may want to check out its unofficial sequel, Stairway to Heaven, where Choi Ji Woo literally irrigates the show with her tears.

Beautiful Days is a great, great example of live shoot. Originally, it was conceived as a kind of revenge drama, where CJW's character was to choose Ryu Shi Won's character (rare melodrama where the first boy/childhood friend ISN'T one), spurning Lee Byung Hung to strike back. And in fact, RSW had signed onto the role with that presumption. The LBH/CJW couple scored so high (that or LBH, aka the Russell Crowe of K-drama, hijacked the project) that the writers hosed RSW, who himself was rather pissed at this new development. If you watch the show with that knowledge, you'll notice where they tried to glue the cracks in the story.

Also I believe Beautiful Days and Hotelier were competing with each other during their respective runs. Rather ironic.
