Well, Ricky Kim is unattractive to me. Highly so. Daniel Henney has soo much more on him, not to mention I think Dan looks 100% Asian, if not 75%.

ARGH.. just looking at him in the pics conjures up images of his scenes in On Air.. the halting speech.. the exaggerated demeanor.. which makes me feel like reaching through the tube (this is the evil hyde in me) & giving him a good hard b*#&% slap upside the head.. what.. am i mean? someone has to knock some sense into this dude.. as if there weren't droves of ppl w/o those generic looks & more acting talent in their little fingers just waiting to be discovered in korea.. this guy's a genuine piece of new york cheesecake if i ever saw one..

maybe i shouldn't talk bc i've never had to say anything in front of a tv camera before.. but it's almost like a political conviction for me that this ricky kim guy shouldn't be acting.. i mean every time he opens his mouth to say his lines it sounds so terribly awkward.. his timing is just never on... i get uncomfortable shifting in my seat & start thinking about how bad actors could actually be an affront to society.. it's almost like an artistic injustice.. so On Air isn't hamlet or a midsummer night's dream.. it's still a drama & it would be nice to maintain some semblance of quality for viewers.. i thought daniel henney was awful in samsooni & seducing mr. perfect.. but now he's starting to look debonair in comparison.. :(

@bebo: I didn't mean to say that you were wrong at all. American football is really only popular in America lol. I was just saying that because he got MVP and went back to Korea to do his philanthropic activities people know him.

@sf: I think I sounded really defensive but I didn't mean to lol. But I still mostly disagree.

@Illdielaughing
Oi, you're right if you refer to lifelong achievements outside of sports . I was talking more about the line, " Michelle Wie has done nothing in her career whereas Hines Ward has been in the Pro Bowl many time." Because I feel career wise, Wie has done pretty cool stuff for being just 18 that's all. it'd be definitely interesting to see how the writers for On Air will use 2 mixed Koreans. Hopefully, there will be lots of interesting social commentary (though I doubt it).

I still kind of stand by the idea that football is not sport that Asians excel in though >_> Honestly, wrestling and b-boying have more of a precision/technique emphasis. And if you look at the sports Asians 'generally' excel (I use this term loosely) in/tend to enjoy recreationally - it is in sports with an emphasis on precision - table tennis, archery, golf, tae kwon do, judo, baseball, soccer....

Football has more of a "slambam" brute force aspect to it then most sports - but this is not to say that football doesn't have its own modicum of precision and technique ^^;;.... Perhaps the term "physical strength" was too much of a vague term. But whatever 'type' of physical strength football requires, I don't think Asians have an overwhelming amount of it; its not really worse or better thing >_> Huh, but I won't say more since I worry I'll be err into making (more) enormous generalizations. But that's just my thought on Asians and sports.

LiarLiar & Illdielaughing...you guys misunderstood my post. i wasn't trying to compare hines and michelle or say that he didn't deserve a cameo...quite the opposite, actually. i'm a HUGE football fan so i know a thing or two about this man....especially since i had him on my fantasy football team a few seasons ago! it doesn't seem so random to me now that i know he's been active in korea as a philanthropist. but i still question whether korea even knows or understands that they have such an awesome athlete in their presence since i don't know if they follow american football.

Hines Ward is famous for being an American Football MVP (The only Korean American ever) and because of his extensive work in Korea concerning mixed-raced kids and equality. A mixture of those is why he's famous. The cameo is deserved and it makes sense that Ricky gets a scene with him because they're both mixed race, know what I mean?
And sf, I wouldn't generalize and say that Koreans aren't good at sports that require physical strength.
Have you seen the wrestling team? Do you know that Korean B-boys are some of the best in the world?. That's all physical strength. It's just a different kind.
