The Stills – “Gender Bombs.” I’m kind of ambivalent on The Stills — I like some shoegazer-y, Manchester-style dream-pop stuff but it’s not really my favorite genre. Not sure if I pick up “Madchester” in the Stills, but I liked the dance-punk meets Echo and the Bunnymen vibe of their first record. Very smooth. And they’re from Quebec so they must be cool!!!
Speaking of mad bands, I’m really looking forward to / crazy terrified of the upcoming Verve album. Their new single kinda sounds like . . . Depeche Mode?

belleza, yeah I liked their first album, but was thoroughly disappointed by their second. which is why i can’t get fully onboard with them although i do dig (some of) their sound. Montreal’s got some pretty cool bands, eh?
Verve’s another iffy one with me… withholding judgment till I hear the new stuff. I can’t say I was a big Depeche Mode fan (not big with the new wave).
Yup, Montreal is full of extremely cool people (half of them belong to Broken Social Scene!) Not like Hongcouvah. Everybody there is just extremely rich .
I think for a lot of the nu-post punk acts, I end up loving the debut album and the 2nd and 3rd efforts are just kinda . . . meh. Strokes, Interpol, Walkmen, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, etc. BTW, am I the only one who doesn’t like MIA? At all. At. All. Yeah I must be the only one.

At some point, Mad Richard has to got to realize he’s not Marvin Gaye. He’s not even Jim Morrison with a big shnauzer.
Sports Talk: The Machine may be returned to Europe?!? Bleh. We need to resign Sasha Vujacic or I’m going to go crazy.
I’m really digging Karen O’s Native Korean Rock. Wish she and Tegan would team up.
