Press day for the Good, Bad, and Weird

Although the “kimchi Western” The Good, the Bad, the Weird already had its international screening at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year (to general praise), its official Korean release doesn’t come until later this month. The cast was on hand at the press conference for the film on July 7 in Seoul: Jung Woo-sung (the good), Lee Byung-heon (the bad), and Song Kang-ho (the weird).

The film is helmed by acclaimed director Kim Jee-woon, who showed his talent for creating riveting drama and beautiful, atmospheric cinematography in prior films A Tale of Two Sisters and A Bittersweet Life, and is set in 1930s Manchuria.

The Good, the Bad, the Weird opens in Korean theaters on July 17; take a look at the preview below:

"kimchi western" ? What's up with trying to add food to international western genres? I know of a bollywood movie that has been described as a "curry western".

I'm anticipating the release of this film because I saw the Clint Eastwood film, "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly." I'm not sure what to think of this film's production, as I don't think it can beat Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach. It's interesting nonetheless, and I wonder what South Korea will do to make this rendition different and should I say... better? Thanks for this update!

Thanks. :)
