Where there is limelight, there stars will flock

A group of B-listers poses with Jin Jong-oh, new winner of the 50m pistol shooting Olympic gold medal, following his win on Tuesday, August 12.

Here the medalist finds himself surrounded by TV host Kang Byung-kyu, ex-Misuda panelist Eva, pop singer Chae Yeon, R&B singer Wangbae, and ballad singer SIC. Apparently the celebs had been eating dinner in a Korean restaurant in Beijing and ran into Jin, also there for dinner. (You’re in China for a festive two-week Olympic trip and you eat Korean?)

  1. “(You’re in China for a festive two-week Olympic trip and you eat Korean?)”

Hell yeah. Unless you chowhunt, the Chinese food in Beijing is surprisingly mediocre. And crowded. I’m sure General Tsao is doing great business with the Yanks.

    Re: National Anthem

Too many words. Too hard to sing. Stolen from a pub singalong for crissakes!! Barack Obama should petition to replace it with “This Land is Your Land” or “Louie Louie.”

  2. Nice…..

  3. Koreans go on tours of all sorts of countries like China, Japan, the US, Canada, etc. and go eat at ONLY Korean restaurants. Now, more importantly, did eva get surgery? I swear her eyes look bigger and her lips look fuller. This may be my Korean filter on, but you can’t trust these Korean celebs!!! Someone confirm or deny my crazy, kthnx <3

  4. Oh yes, I know — i’ve been on countless trips through Europe with the ‘rents whose FIRST order of business is always searching out a local Korean restaurant, no matter how bad the food. But i still think it’s silly. When it was bad, they even preferred packaged ramyun to a multi-course French meal, which was like pain to this soul (and I’m not even a foodie). Come on, horizons won’t broaden themselves, yo!

  5. “and go eat at ONLY Korean restaurants.”

Or if they tour Southern California, they eat at our local crab shack. The Korea tourists come all the way down to the pier, eat the crab, and leave. Uhh, why? Does it make wrinkles go away? Does it?

  6. Oh, don’t knock that crab place! That crab place is awesome.

  7. I don’t get it myself. I get eating only Korean food in Korea because omg there is so much everywhere I can’t stop, but I love eating food from all over the place. The palates of Koreans tho leave something to be desired. I am a foodie and I don’t get it. Food in FRANCE? You turn down French food for ramen? Or Italy? OMG, I am gaining weight just thinking about their food.

Luckily, my parents will eat food that is not Korean. In fact, my mom sometimes cooks non-Korean food for us. And we keep the kimchi IN the fridge. I know, it’s shocking, please, no one faint on me now ^_~

I actually live pretty near that crab shack (aka “That Place Where Ajummas Flock on Friday Night?!!??”) How is the spicy seafood soup there?

“Food in FRANCE? You turn down French food for ramen? Or Italy? ”

I’m glad my mom was the opposite of that in Paris and Toulouse. We just eat off my brother’s business account card. Foie gras. Cheese plates. More foie gras. Then again, my cousins and aunt/uncle has eaten at the French Laundry. Multiple. Times.

Go to Michael Chang’s wedding AND have butter-poached lobster tail? I hate Stanford people. All of you.

Do you mean the maewoontang? It’s pretty good — we get it every time and it’s got a nice, clean bite to it.

  10. That’s the one Sarah!! I swear, nothing goes better with grape drink than maewoontang!

  11. javabeans attends stanford? if so, absolutely not surprised. this is by far the most interesting drama blog i’ve found. I love the blogger’s writing style its so refreshing to read. and i agree with javabeans on broadening one’s horizon’s when dining in different countries, i mean you only have one life to live so you should at least try everything once in your life time before giving up on it.

  12. Eva is adorable!

  13. I so agreed with comment on Korean foods. Whenever Korean artists came to Malaysia. Among the request is Korean food for dinner or lunch every day. And not to forget ramen noodle. Other than that is Western dishes. Korean food/restaurant kinda expensive in KL and they don’t bother to try local foods at all. Duh… It apply to all artists that I’ve been stalked so far. Either they don’t want local foods or it is all under management control.
