Lee and Igawa promote tourism, not romance
As always, netizens are always the first to jump to premature conclusions, aren’t they? Lee Dong-gun and Japanese star Igawa Haruka got bloggers and netizens worked up when images and video clips of the two stars appeared online, suggesting they were dating (she’s married). They’d been spotted together in areas like Insadong, Myungdong, and Cheongdamdong,... More »

Gourmet: Episode 21
Oh, Bong-joo. You’ve made quite a swift decline over onto the dark side, haven’t you? And to think, at the beginning of the series I thought there was hope for you and your thick-headed, belligerent ways. Also, the romance takes two steps forward (and one step back). But hey, that’s better than one step forward... More »

Super Junior members Heechul and Kangin are taking the lead roles in the camp musical classic Xanadu (“We are in Xanaduuu~!”) in their musical-theater debuts. They put on a performance at the press rehearsal (i.e., dress rehearsal open to press) on September 8 with the rest of their castmates. However, audiences won’t be seeing both... More »

A black press day for Tazza
Tazza actors and crew (Jang Hyuk, Han Ye-seul, Kim Min-joon, Kang Sung-yeon) came out on the afternoon of September 8 for the drama’s production press conference, all decked out in black to observe the death of Ahn Jae-hwan, which they’d received word of just earlier that day. Apparently the actors put on a bright face... More »

Kingdom of Wind aims young with some idol faces
I’ll admit I haven’t paid much mind to KBS’s upcoming sageuk (and manhwa adaptation) Kingdom of Wind because, well, I never cottoned on to Jumong and felt no particular thrill to see Song Il-kook back in his old-fashioned threads playing Jumong’s grandson. But I will say I’m a little surprised at the casting of two... More »

Looking at the world through star-colored lenses
Note: What they’re talking about in this article is a step up from the ubiquitous “sel-ca” photos, or “self-taken” photographs, that we see online everywhere. A lot of the photos in question do feature the celebs themselves, but this is referring more to the trend of stars becoming amateur photographers, publishing books and putting their... More »

The next Chaser-like thriller fills out its cast
Remember the new Chaser-like stocks-’n'-bonds thriller that was announced starring Park Yong-ha? (Title: 작전, or Jakjeon, or Scam — as in, a stock scam.) The third leg of the main trio has been announced; starring alongside Park Yong-ha and actress Kim Min-jung (New Heart) will be Park Hee-soon (Seven Days, pictured above). Park Hee-soon has... More »

What is the sound of one foot cycling?
Is it an imminent pratfall? Let’s just say I hope her other foot found the pedal, and quickly. Singer Bada participates in the Seoul Rally bike race. September 7, Seoul. (No helmets or protective gear, Bada? Reckless or just really, really confident?) Tags: Bada... More »

tvN’s World Special “LOVE”
Actors Shin Hyun-joon and Bae Doo-na were sent earlier this summer to do some charity work abroad via cable channel tvN’s world special “LOVE” (their phrasing) documentary program. I’d mentioned this before Bae Doo-na set off for Nepal, but now that she’s gone there and back, we can see for ourselves what the trip entailed.... More »
