Singing stars Jang Yoon-ju and Lee Hana

Now, this is something I’ll be looking out for: Actress Lee Hana and top model Jang Yoon-ju will be displaying their musical skills in an upcoming cable program called Jang Yoon-ju’s 29 on Mnet.

Lee appeared on Jang Yoon-ju’s 29 to converse with the model about acting, music, and marriage. They also had an impromptu duet, with Lee showing off a song she wrote and Jang performing one from her upcoming album, followed by songs by Keren Ann (“Right Now & Right Here”) and Cardigans (“Carnival”).

Lee Hana, the daughter of a songwriter, is by now well-known for her singing ability. Jang Yoon-ju, one of Korea’s most successful models and one of three model-judges of the reality show I Am A Model, is prepping her own solo album and featured her vocals on a song by musician Jung Jae-hyung, which you can listen to here.

The show airs on September 16.

Apparently in university, she used to do modeling gigs in order to pay for her guitars. Even going back to 2005, her candids were often with her guitars. I think on Sang Sang Plus, it said that she originally wanted to be a bossa nova artist, but that didn't work out.

Dramabeans + anyone else,

Do you know of any young talented up-and-coming Asian American artists/singers living on the West Coast looking for a chance to perform in front of 6,000 people? Let me know!

Her voice is lovely. I've been a fan of her acting since Alone in Love.

I'm looking forward to this duet. I've been a fan of Lee Hana's singing, as well as acting, since I first saw her on Sang Sang Plus a while back singing Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me," and Bob Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door." Her voice is really soothing to listen to, and so it didn't come as a surprise to learn of her musical roots (father and major in college). I haven't heard Jang Yoon Joo singing before, so that'd also be interesting to hear. All I knew about her was that she was one of the judges on I Am Model and that she's a pretty well-known model in Korea. Thanks for the info dramabeans.

Rocketfuel: I, personally, would recommend Lydia Paek from the dance team Quest. I don't know her 411 but I'm assuming you can get in contact with her through the contact person from Quest: Steve Terrada - turtledope@yahoo.com.

This is Lydia singing Turn Your Lights Down Low:

this is Quest's myspace website:

or you should also try:

Amanda Lee, who is another upcoming Asian American singer from the DC area.

ladolcevitaaaaa,

I've seen Lydia Paek at ISA concert.....and we've already had Quest perform for us twice....but I can't say we'll be using them a 3rd time. I'm not too high on either of them as dancers though, but the kids love them.

Amanda Lee is dope...too bad she's in DC. I have a soft spot for people who rely on their own abilities in writing and performing music...

If you know more, let me know!
