I know So Ji-sub is something of an iconoclast who does his own thing. But just because he’s talented doesn’t mean he doesn’t cultivate his image just as carefully as his more conventional peers, and I’ll go on record as disliking — nay, hating — his purposely aggro, cornrow-sporting, woman-choking image as of late.

I TOTALLY AGREE!! I used to love himmmmm, but I’m so sick of his dirty hobo look of late. It just looks too stylized and fake, making him look like a retard… wish he’d just dress the way he used to.
I actually don’t mind it, though he should have bootcut jeans which would be a little better. It beats the cornrow look hands down for me but I’ve always enjoyed an uptown rocker look. What I’m concerned about is that he seems to be carrying a man-clutch… I draw the line at over-the-shoulder man bags.
He looks like he’s been stealing from Kid Rock’s wardrobe.

If you cut the picture into sections, he’d look like a woman – the sunglasses with the hat, the ballet-neck tee, and the entire section from the quads down. Aigoo, SJS, what were you thinking?? O.O
As a longtime fan, I have to say that this is not a new look for him. He’s been into cornrows, rapper outfits, etc, since day one. You should see some of his early outfits, when he first entered the entertainment industry! Apparently, he tends to go for a hiphop style on his days off, when he’s out of the spotlight. It’s just that, recently, he’s been bringing it more to general public attention.
…Can’t say that I love this outfit, though. Or the woman-choking. *sigh*
I like that he doesn’t care about what others think of him. He’s just being himself and that’s sexy because I rather him being true than trying to blend in with the rest.
I do like his edgy style but this look is not working. It makes him look like a ‘wannabe’ instead of a style icon. A kid could have put together that outfit. A kid going to a costume party dressed up as a gangster. But I am still mad about this guy. Beneath the edgy quirky sexy kinky image he likes to project I sense a sweet sensitive shy kid who’s still trying to find himself. I don’t know much about him so I could be wrong. Am I?

I’m a fan, Make me thinking of Joe Odagiri styles. I didnt like the styles but its better for an actor who really can act but the stylist didnt know what suits him rather than a man who knows how to wear himself but know zero of acting.

Speaking of Johnny Depp, personally I think Choi Soo Jong better resembles him (appearance wise, esp the eyes) than So Ji Sup, and I got that impression from The Emperor of the Sea (aka Sea God).
I really like So Ji Sup, but I gasped+giggled when I read up to hjkomo’s “AIGOO” comment.
I really like you, So Ji Sup, and it’d be so much better if you just come with white shirt, blue jeans with a black jacket, than this scarecrow look.
