Bae Yong-joon sings for The Face Shop
Get ready to hear Bae Yong-joon croon for cosmetics. He unleashes his singing and guitar-playing skills for the first time on TV in a special CF for makeup company The Face Shop.
The CF commemorates the brand’s five-year anniversary, and will start airing on November 8. Bae traveled to Gangwondo last month to shoot the CF on a ranch to highlight the “natural, fresh” image the brand promotes.
Bae said of the experience, “I worried that I would look awkward singing, but the atmosphere was so nice, I was able to sing comfortably and enjoy myself.”
Oh, Korea. Only you would make a big deal about the shooting of a commercial for a cosmetic company which is celebrating its own anniversary. You’d make a CF of just about anything, won’t you?

The irony is that there is nothing fresh and natural about BYJ’s face. Not only does he look somewhat surgeried (his nose at least) he is also known to visit the beauty salon at least 3-4 days weekly and has been for around a year. It’s even changed the composition of his face and not with positive results. When I think of natural I don’t think of BYJ. Plus, these photos are terrible. I look forward to his singing and strumming in the CF, though.
I’ve never understood the appeal…….

I like that looks more like a guy. What’s the point of having guys who try to look prettier than girls for cosmetics when mainly girls buy cosmetics? It’s weird how girls are attracted to feminine guys. I get scared when a guy is too pretty. Let the “be pretty” up to the girl. Let guys remain mainly like how it had always been.

Am I excited? Not a bit. Despite KSW status (married), he’s better representing Face Shop. He looks like a man. If they don’t like him anymore, then what about the likes of Ha Suk Jin, or the cute guy from Powerful Opponents – playing the son of the President, or even better So Ji Sub for goodness sake! Just somebody who looks like a man, please, would do. BYJ is too…. extreme. Weird, girly but not really (he looks more of a grandma to be representing a cosmetics company. No offense intended).
I would not dare step in in a Face Shop store anywhere in any Asian country if I see his face there. Just too weird, too out of place.

omg omg! So this is why my local franchisee asked me and my guy friends if we knew “Bae Yong Joon” hahas. I was being a typical girl the other day, spending my hours around at the faceshop and one of the guys i dragged along happen to notice kwon sang woo on a poster but I was like “what’s his name again? Song Seung Hyun? No.. Kwon something? Ah, i dunno. He was in Stairway to heaven! I heard he was the guy that did an advertisement for this shop” then the franchisee goes “Do you know Bae Yong Joon?” and we were all just like “huh?” hahas well at least next time I go there I can tell her I managed to find out who he was xD lols!
