Lee Min-ki (Mixed-up Investigative Agency, Dal Ja’s Spring) is finally going to realize his long-held dream of being a singer (rocker, more like) on November 15 at the 2008 Mnet KM Music Festival (MKMF).
Lee Min-ki reportedly fell in love with the guitar ten years ago and has dreamed of playing in a rock band ever since. He’s picked an odd choice of song for his performance — Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” — but will be giving the material his own stylistic spin as he performs with a band made up of friends.
As though that weren’t enough, Lee is going all-out (ya only debut your rocker dreams once?) with dramatic costuming and thick makeup, leading one MKMF rep to promise that we’ll be seeing a “completely different side to the Lee Min-ki we know… He’s already begun training in earnest for the past month, practicing constantly whenever he has spare time.”
MKMF will take place on the 15th at Seoul’s Jamsil Stadium and will be broadcast live from 7pm to 11pm on Mnet, KM, tvN and Olive, also airing simultaneously in Japan and China.

According to the Joy News 24 article, the name of the band formed by Min Ki and his friends is “302호”. Remember, he should be proficient with the guitar, as he’s mentioned his love in magazine interviews in the past.
He’s realizing his “Personal Legend” (Min Ki has read Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist)….now I better understand his taking the role as the lead guitarist of an Indie rock band for the 2009 movie “Oishii Man”
Goodness…even the theme for his 2009 calendar is “You Rock My World”. And Min Ki’s dressed up as Elvis for January.

i hope his singing has improved since the last time I saw him on Heroine 6… even though he sounded better that time than on X-Man, he really wasn’t that great. i really like him though so am rooting for him!

It seems to be general knowledge that Lee Min-Ki got rejected by YEH, except I never heard of this. How did this become publicly known? Can anyone fill me in?

The “rejection” happened on the SBS variety program X-Man (YEH “rejected” Min Ki for Kim Jong Kook)
Anyways, follow-up to the article…how the name of Min Ki and his friends’ band came about, courtesy of purpletiger86 for the translation:
Since they were a band, they thought it would be best to put their heads together and come up with a band name. After careful consideration, the name they chose was “#302″. The reason they named their band #302 was because it was the room number where they practiced singing. Every time a community meeting was held, the loud noise coming from their practice room was such a disturbance to the meetings. So jokingly, Minki and his friends called their band #302.
We should remember that it isn’t ONLY Min Ki who will be on stage peforming…but him and his friends. His friends are also realizing their dreams.
I’m hoping being on stage with his friends will have some calming effect, because Min Ki has a tendency to waver in the beginning verses of a song and is better once he gets the little nervous laugh/chuckle out of the way (this can be seen in the clips of his 1st Korean Fan Meeting and his 1st Japan Fan Meeting as he sings his song from the drama “Really Really Like You”)
I am not sure if he can sign or not but he is talented and I will always be a fan. I think it is great that he is pursuing a dream

Min Ki will be flying to the US on November 25th to film for the movie “Haeundae”. The day before (Nov 24) will be the production briefing session for “Romantic Island” in Korea.
Oh my…there’s a “3rd Coast Mix” of “Power of Love” and the entire song is only of Min Ki!!!
