@sonam-Depends upon whether or not the father is a good father. CJS apparently was hit by her husband. Domestic violence is a crime I do not forgive, no matter whether or not the offender is the father. No father is better than a violent one.

Coincidentally, as I'm replying to this, your banner is one from Scandal. *sighs* I miss CJS. She used to have such a huge smiles on her face.

I don't really know how someone who has been identified as a wife beater among all sorts of stuff could show his face in public after that. I guess this is what they call thick skinned.

this is a bit off topic, but I've wondered something for a while and this reminds me. i've seen some fansubs that i think are taken from chinese subs, and does "thick skinned" mean something different when translated in chinese? because the usage above isn't actually what it means in american english. just curious, thanks!

I still don't understand how can he legally transfer guardianship when he gave up his rights. Why is there such a law in the first place?

Interesting because I always thought "thick-skinned" was a mis-translation. I know it to mean you're not that sensitive to criticism (like, she's thick-skinned so insults don't bother her). But thick skinned doesn't mean someone's being shamelessly bold, or at least that seems wrong to me.

Yay! I'm glad that he did this..good for you, Jo Sung Min! it seems like the best thing to do for the kids, at least for right now. Because he gave up his claim this nicely, Choi's family will be more likely to listen to him in the future...maybe after some time has passed he can see his kids regularly and be a part of their life. But if the kids had gone into his custody right now, that would have been too much to deal with, since they haven't even had time yet to grieve for their mom probably.

@huh-I think it means both. I don't know Chinese, but even in English, there are two meanings. A positive, and a negative one. Either you aren't easily offended or hurt, or you're shameless. I've seen it used both ways.

Positive:
"The rumors must be hurting her."
"No, she's thick-skinned. She can take it."

Negative:
"Oh my gosh! I can't believe she's showing up with the boyfriend she stole from her best friend! How thick-skinned is that?"

I do not condone what JSM did to CJS, but I think the Korean netizens can be way too one-sided and too aggressive. We never know what happened in a marriage and no one should pass any judgments, whether good or bad. Although may seem like JSM is only after CJS's money, we never know what his true intentions are. Maybe he sincerely wants to be a part of his children's future. Give the guy a chance maybe? (although they say he was never there for the kids when they were born).. It may be difficult to grasp for the time being, but who knows it may benefit the kids in the long.
