    Dear Javabeans,

Merry X’mas & Happy New Year! Thanks for producing a blog which has been a wonderful companion the last few months since I’ve discovered it. Your blog has piqued my interest in K-drama, but I read it more because of the good writing, rich observations (on dramas), and many accompanying songs. Love the format too!

    Happy New Year everyone!
Lets hope 2009 brings some good dramas to watch.

Happy New Year all! I’m totally ready for the new year as 2008′s been a sluggish year in terms of entertainment and my life.

My Christmas was ok. How about yours?

Have you guys decided what you’re going to do on New Year’s Eve? I’m totally clueless. :( (

OT: I’m baking a cake for my sister’s ex bf who’s going to have a post-Christmas dinner with us tomorrow. I totally thought they were going to get married. In my mind, he’ll always be my brother-in-law.

Eh, my x-mas was full of sleeping in and running outside because the weather was perfect. Hope you had a great one!

I am looking forward to your drama recaps for 2008!!
I think 2009 will be a good year for dramas. Any thoughts about potentially subbing Triple or HYD (korean)?

Hi, my christmas was quite right, i came with my mother brother and sisters to my auntie’s house and i talked all night with my cousins, after 12 am we ate some “pan de jamon” = it can be translated as ham’s bread and “hallaca” = [it's like a corn bread and you can put inside raisins and meat and olives and so on]. And “pernil” = Ham .Ohh and christmas cake, it was so delicious!!! . Excuse my english (it is not that good).

My christmas was very good, but one part of me was a little sad because my parents get divorced this year so my father was alone in christmas…well Merry Christmas for you all! and Happy new Year…:-D

The best part of this years Christmas was spending time with my nephew on his first bday and seeing my family open the gifts I got them….and watching this!

Christmas was GREAT!! Got to spend it with a small group of people I really, really love!! Other than spending it with my family, this is all I could have wished for. Hope yours was lovely, Javabeans!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work this year – I had a great time reading your funny, insightfull and incredibly well written posts and recaps. Your blog has become a daily reference to me, and I “blame” half of my korean drama (and Kang Ji Hwan) addiction on you and your writing!! :P

Oh, and I can hardly wait for your year review! And the other girls’s reviews, too, of course!!

    God bless you!

PS: Have a great New Year, everyone!!

Had my first soju on Christmas, also my second, third etc – it was a good day! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

A thought just struck, has it been only 2 years since javabeans/dramabeans has been running? Boy, this is such a fixture in my life! May 2009 be just as successful, and here’s to more series that resonate with you – 2008 was dry, no offence to anyone, but I only really liked Last Scandal and Who Are You?

happy holidays! you and i always have the same tastes in music. i love love love iron & wine.

  13. 13 Philippa

    Merry Christmas!

  14. 14 JiHwan

Christmas is just like any other day for me. Except, I have an excuse to not have to go to work. I’m ready for the new years. Maybe 2009 will be a better year than 2008 has been. I have to agree with PILK. 2008 has been a year full of disappointments. Of course, there were SOME good dramas but the majority have been disappointing. BTW, dramabeans, this song is very soothing and enjoyable.

well, if you’re already mentioning Hanukka … we are not done yet :-) the holiday lasts 8 days (but I am still reading your blog every day , javabeans) :-) So in the meanwhile I hope everyone had a great Christmas and now you all wait breathless for the New Year eve, right? :-)

Hello Javabeans & all here — Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! My Christmas was quiet but it was ok — my companion of course was Kdramas & the cute/gorgeous K-actors & I was contented! New Year is another story so we’ll see & just hope we have a greater New Year although 2008 wasn’t so bad for me at least, but it could have been better! Happy New Year also to our Kdrama actors/tresses out in South Korea! Mwahh & Aja! God bless!

  17. 17 Javafiend

    Javabeans,
Belated Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day to you! Unlike years past, so ready to kiss 2008 goodbye and welcome in the New Year – and I doubt that I’m the only one. Thank you for maintaining your blog so faithfully and wholeheartedly, especially during such a ridiculous year. Like a far-away friend who’s always reachable, it was a dependable escape and revival of the soul whenever real life threatened to dampen the spirits.

May you (and all of us) be blessed with calmer days, personal accomplishments and of course, better Kdramas in the New Year ;-)

(and rocketfuel: thx for the link. completely new to me and enjoyed seeing continued growth in Asian musicians. But “double the pleasure, double the fun”??? Immediately thought of old ads for Doublemint gum – no offense but any chance that part could be reworked? Otherwise, loved the piece and various voices.)

    javafiend,

actually….those were the original lyrics by Chris Brown and it was used for the double mint gum commercial.

However, the lyrics relate to what the those singers will be doing….so if you live in LA and want to see what Asians in America are doing……go see the show. ;)
