Everywhere you look right now, everyone’s talking about Lee Min-ho. And for good reason, since the formerly little-known actor has experienced a meteoric rise in visibility — and popularity — since last week, headlining KBS’s newest smash success, Boys Before Flowers.

The newfound attention has turned up pictures that show Lee Min-ho with another rising “flower boy” (i.e., pretty boy), Jung Il-woo. Actually, the pictures aren’t new and the friendship isn’t a secret — the two were high school classmates — but Lee Min-ho just wasn’t famous enough for it to be interesting until now.

The two friends will both be heading dramas simultaneously, too, when Jung Il-woo’s Return of Iljimae starts up next week. (They won’t be battling timeslots though; Lee’s on a Monday-Tuesday series while Jung’s is Wednesday-Thursday.)

Apparently, Lee had also been scheduled to make an appearance on the 2006-07 MBC sitcom Unstoppable High Kick (the show that shot Jung to stardom), but couldn’t after he was in a car accident.

As for Boys Before Flowers, despite some glaring flaws and criticism for overuse of CG, the drama seems (in my opinion) to owe much of its appeal to Lee, who is earning the lion’s share of the positive feedback. Say what you will about its problems, you can’t deny its popularity.

The drama also looks like it may be able to finally topple East of Eden from the top ratings spot, or at least prevent it from reaching 30%. Eden has dominated Mondays and Tuesdays for months, but now its numbers are starting to decrease while Boys‘ numbers are rising. At last count, Eden‘s episode 40 pulled in a 28.4%, while Boys‘ episode 4 scored a 21.4%. Even Boys‘ reruns are producing double-digit ratings — for instance, re-broadcasts of episodes 1 and 2 pulled in a 10.1% and a 15.1%. (For comparison, Eden‘s reruns in the same slot were a 4.6% and a 8.9%.)

Oh gosh he's adorable!! I really like how he poses and acts in his candid photos with friends. Very charismatic. Much like an ex-boyfriend of mine O_O lol.

Ahem. I've only watched 2 episodes of BBF, and I think his acting is the only thing that really does it for me in this drama. He is so talented with his eyes and face, and very commanding with his body language.

It must be too cool to be good-looking and have good-looking friends too. :| I had a model male friend in high school, but how come he never introduced me to good-looking friends of his??

Ah now everyone's talking about the Korean HYD. Now I want to watch too!!

Boys Over Flowers gained popularity so quickly mainly due to the reputation of the taiwan and japanese adaptations to the same story. But i'm so glad to see that the anticipation created was worth it: the drama isn't letting us down.
Lee Min Ho is king.
haha. ;] I think it's the way he smiles. He captures an innocent and angelic(heehee^^) expression, like that of a little kid. But it's so cute because he has this sort of unconditional love for her, and every satisfactory smile we see is just a humongous "AWW!!"

I am liking Lee Min Ho more and more. I think he's the best (and maybe the only) thing in BOF which will keep me watching.
Even with his young age, I think he lets out more confidence and personality than any of the other F4 guys. And hey! That perm hair is not easy to bear. and that mink thing he had! If thoses were on Lee Jun Ki, he'd look like a sissy. But somehow, Lee Min Ho just pull it off so well.
I like how Jun Pyo can switch from being sometime a mean ass****, then a giddy little boy, then that really sad-mad look he had when he saw the pic of Jan Di at hotel, disdain when Min Ji confessed.
Hope his acting will keep growing.

I've actually been away from your blog for a while, Javabeans, but I'm glad I'm back ^_^ In any case, I haven't watched the episodes at all but from reading your synopses (is that even the correct plural spelling? if not...sorry!), is Kim Hyun Joong's acting so bad that it'll be really easy to just say "Well hhhmm...Jun-pyo versus Ji-hoo? Jun-pyo...d'oh!!!"? I know we shouldn't make comparisons to HYD, but part of the fun was the debate between Rui and Domyouji (as in debating with oneself and amongst friends). I mean...for me personally, it's like the question, "Swiss Cheese or Ritter Sport Marzipan chocolate?" (if these references make no sense, then I apologize since I am currently studying abroad in Germany). That's a question that's just impossible to answer!

lol, so i was not the only one who thought lee min ho looked alot like takuya kimura. i actually made that comment earlier underneath an episode recap. but yes, lee min ho is gorgeous, esp. in those classy outfits in the drama! his curls actually suit him very well. and most importantly, his acting is superb, esp. for a quasi-newb! i esp. like how goo jun pyo chuckles. its like he's a little kid, so cute!

Can I just say that the moment I fell in love with Lee Min Ho was when he cowered from the bee?
And then that love was fully cemented when I saw him lounging in the pool in summer clothes and Ray Bans.
He's beautiful, and a surprisingly talented actor to boot.
