In response to all those Boys Before Flowers parody videos, reader saharial volunteered to put up an OST prize for our own contest for best fan-made parody video.
I thought that sounded like a lot of fun, so I’m matching her offer and putting up another OST prize. Why let Korean netizens have all the fun with their Simpsons spoofs and fake “Requiem” movie trailers?
The top two entries will win a free CD of the soundtrack.
First place will win an additional drama poster. (The OST comes with 7 photo cards and a red F4 card. The poster looks like this.)
RULES
In making your parody video:
- All clips must be from Boys Before Flowers.
- You may use any music you wish except from the drama OST.
(Sorry — if I hear almost paaaaaaradiiiiise any more than I must, I may have to hurt something.) - Submissions must be no more than 4 minutes long.
Multiple submissions okay.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Three judges — saharial, Sevenses, and myself — will determine the winner based on the following.
Each category is worth up to 10 points:
- Suitability and choice of music
- Suitability of clips used
- Overall impression
- Originality
- Editing skills
DEADLINE
Send submissions to info@dramabeans.com by Friday, February 20, at 9 p.m. PST.
(That’s midnight EST. Or, Saturday at 5 a.m. in London; or 1 p.m. in Manila; or 2 p.m. in Seoul; or 4 p.m. in Sydney — and you get the point.)
Winners will be announced the following Monday, February 23.

I thought it’d be interesting if JP was the nobody in the relationship and JD is the one with the responsibilities. This movie is actually a soccer movie, it’s not that well known but I though I’d give it a try. So basically JD wants to be the youngest girl to join the national swimming team. She’s pressured by many people, but once she meets JP she questions whether swimming is really everything to her.
I really hope even if not every can have the main prize that there will still be acknowledgements for 2nd or 3rd ranking trailers or honorable mentions. That would be really cool, too – just for the fame/glory bit of it. :p
I just updated the synopsis on my youtube parody entry. Omg – tomorrow’s going to be so cool! I can’t wait to see the end results – no matter what happens. This whole contest and the video-editing journey itself has been uber-cool and a fantastic experience to walk away with.
