Yikes! And I thought that now that each main cast member of Boys Before Flowers has an accident to his or her name, we’d be clear of any more misfortunes, but it’s car collision number two for 19-year-old Kim Bum.
The accident occurred on the morning of February 9. He was heading to work, riding passenger in a car that hit the guardrail of the road. He was admitted to a Kangnam hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
According to one source at the hospital, the accident wasn’t severe, but part of his leg was injured and the skin was torn. Although it is considered a minor injury, as this is his second accident in recent days (his first occurred on February 1), he was told to get medical attention and rest. He has already undergone MRI tests and received some treatment, but this is not expected to affect filming schedule. (Which, as we know, is tight enough as it is.)

The injury has been identified as to his right foot; his big toe required stitches.
Following a shoot at the Yangpyeong English Village the day before that extended all night, he was on his way back to Seoul at 7am when the accident occurred. His manager was exhausted and dozed briefly while driving and hit the guardrail. The vehicle was pretty damaged, but Kim Bum was sitting in the rear seat and was not much hurt, apart from the stitched-up toe.
Kim Bum was admitted to the hospital but plans to check out the same day. He is not scheduled to film on the 9th or 10th, so will rest at home, and should be fine for all further shoots. Looks like the tollgate injury was merely the first accident, at which time he experienced slight hip pains, for which he was treated.

These car accidents are beyond ridiculous! And if anyone thinks that these are minor incidents, they are mistaken. These injuries–whiplash, broken legs, etc.–will stay with them forever, and if they are doing all right now, fine, but complications will arise as they get older. I know of people in rehab for chronic pain from car accidents they had 30 years ago! Seriously, I wish the parents or managers of these actors would demand safer transportation.
@#1 Even if they did get safer transportation, it seems that the danger is still out there since it was _another_ car that hit them.
You’re always hearing news left and right of such and such celeb getting into a traffic accident, and having taken transportation in Korea myself I can say that being in a car is a bit scary. I just hope nothing else happens to the cast and crew.
as much as i enjoy BOF (because of kim bum and kim so eun), i truly hope kim bum gets the proper medical treatment and the rest he needs in order to recover fully from both accidents.

anyway, i added an update to the post when more news was released. looks like his tired manager dozed at the wheel. GEEZ, i suppose we should be glad that the accident wasn’t more severe, given that circumstance.
His manager was totally at fault for dozing off while driving.
If he was tired & sleepy, pull over and get some rest rather than putting himself & his passenger in danger. It could had been much worst than just hitting the guard rail. They were very lucky!

The poor sleep deprived things. The BOF crew should hire people dedicated in the role of drivers for their cast (and managers) so that accidents would be minimalized. Sooner or later (knock on wood) it’ll get much worse.

Again?!? Jeez! Poor guy! Granted, it was a minor injury (I currently have stitches too so while yes, they’re a pain in the neck, they’re not super-painful), but dammit, give the guy a break. Filming with such a tight-schedule is nerve-wrecking as it is, imho, so adding the extra-stress of an injury can’t do him any good. I can only sympathize. Aja aja fighting, Kim Bum!

is there another assistant who can attend to the actor/actress while the manager gets some shuteye *-* or why can’t there just be another person whose main job is to drive the actors to and from location? :/

imo, if u are not that popular, my guess is that you start off alone, or with a manager. i mean, yeah, kim bum is VERY popular now, but he is not bae yong joon. but of course, some celebs like to just have one trusted person at their side, like a PA or something along that line. besides, it’s the manager’s job to make sure that his/her client goes to shoot on time, get back to rest on time, etc…i mean, if u are a celeb urself, would u want a whole team of ppl following u around?
besides, i think the asst would be more worn out than the manager. assts in the industry never get rest. it’s always a long day filming, and sooner or later, the sleep deprivationwill get to u.
but yes, sleeping while driving is one of the most dangerous thing. people have died because of it. Thank God he only sustained minor injuries.
talking bout that, sorry that my comments seemed to be rounding around star’s lover, just watched the latest, and boy oh boy, it’s the same scenario.
Driving while sleepy is incredibly dangerous and irresponsible, the fact the driver was a star’s manager is irrelevant, regardless of who you are, if you are driving and you are dozing off, pull over! When I was in college, three students died in almost the same type of accident, the driver drozed off and hit the guardrail on the highway. Kim Bum is lucky he did not sustain more serious injury. I hope all parties are taught a lesson: safety comes first, even if it means production has to be delayed, hiring taxi/chauffeur, etc.

I saw the video clip with KimBum in accident (firefighters are required to record what happend to the scene since their rescue might disturb the evidences and stuff. and it was released for news) Two ambulance staffs were helping him to get out of the car and it looked like he was having trouble walking and standing up so They carried him into the ambulance…. gosh, I am so glad that his injury wasn’t serious

I agree with you guys, KBS needs to hire drivers for these BOF actors/actresses. Right now, they are ‘gems’ to the broadcasting company. Treat them very well! If it’s necessary, make the KBS’s President to chauffer them around.

It probably happens because actors are so busy and always rushing around everywhere. But to tell you honestly there are more actors in car accidents in Korea then anywhere else around the world!
