All Joo Ji-hoon events canceled

The names aren’t out yet, but we do get a few initials and hints as police look into the circle of acquaintance of the celebrities booked in the drug scandal:

  • Joo Ji-hoon‘s two Japan fanmeetings have been canceled. Tickets will be refunded.
  • His film The Naked Kitchen (co-starring Shin Mina and Kim Tae-woo) was scheduled for a May 30 release in Japan, but is canceled postponed indefinitely.
  • Will Joo Ji-hoon be held responsible for Tokyo Tower‘s problems? He has already been dropped from the cast, but things get complicated because the production received several billion won from Japanese investors who had put up the funds with the stipulation that Joo Ji-hoon be cast in the drama, banking on his name value. Now that he is no longer involved, the entire production is endangered. One source with the production hinted that Joo bears some responsibility for this.
  • One industry rep said, “Before the drug case, Joo Ji-hoon was deemed an actor with enough name value to bring in investments. The atmosphere has completely reversed now.”

Meanwhile, things get worse for smuggler Yoon Seol-hee and her backer Yeh Hak-young:

  • Over March and April 2008, Yoon and Yeh are said to have inhaled meth twice, at a Tokyo hotel and at Yeh’s home.
  • Starting in 2007, both regularly called friends over and did ecstasy and ketamine at home and at four clubs in Kangnam and Hongdae, approximately ten times in all.
  • A certain Mr./Ms. Park, Kim, and Jeon also supplied Yoon with funds and requested that Yoon buy them drugs in Japan about a dozen times.
  • Actor “I” recently appeared in a drama and is being investigated.
  • Police are looking into Joo Ji-hoon’s entertainer friends with whom he regularly attended Kangnam clubs. They are also investigating a certain Kangnam area club for marijuana and ecstasy use among models and entertainers.
  • Police have found a certain music cable channel’s “A” in possession of four ecstasy pills.
  • Police are investigating a model “Kim” for allegedly smoking marijuana in front of a Cheongdamdong club.
  • Kim denied these claims, saying, “People think I take drugs because my image seems like I go to clubs often, but I’ve never taken any. My going to clubs has nothing to do with drugs, I just went to have fun.”

I think we've established that drugs is wrong, not to mention illegal in most cases and should not be condoned. With that said, JJH made a bad decision and is now facing the consequences of that decision.

However, I am also with Min and Melica. Where is the compassion and empathy for a human being? Before an actor or celebrity, he is after all a human being like you and me.

Looking back into some of the foolish things I've done - some of them wrong depending on who is judging it - I feel remorse. I am grateful to have the opportunity to move on and away from them. And even more grateful for second and third chances.

As human beings, none of us are perfect, none are without fault or blemish and unfortunately, sometimes we make bad decisions or fall into temptations - JJH included. Him confessing to what he did is a step towards fixing the problem. What he needs now is to learn from it and move on to hopefully better decisions in the future.

Looking at the bigger picture, whether or not his career will recover from this is immaterial. What is more important is that he is able to overcome this point in his life and rise above it all a better person - as so many of us were too given the chance. This is, after all the hope we have for ourselves, isn't it not?

Yes, these people are first of all human being, actually this is the time they need our support than rejection. Not saying they should do drugs, but once a mistake is made, you need support not being rejected!!! It is to sad to see young people destroying their lives, meth is very dangereous, and all other drugs, but could we give them a chance and tell them, you did wrong but wake up and we will be there for you! Life is complicted, falling is very easy, with no support you are finished. I hope JJH will make a better decision and all the others.

I think JJH should start being a Christian or a Catholic, talking to a Priest or a Pastor is a good healing process. The society you are in right now is rather cruel. They do not believe in second chances or redemption...

What. A. Moron. Joo Ji-Hoon is. He went from hero to zero acting like a pampered celeb who had it too good. Tsk tsk tsk. Even the very talented ones find it hard to bounce back after a scandal like this. I agree that he should consider priesthood. Good career change for him.

all i can say is: :(
i haven't been as in to dramas as i used to be (purely functional, i get too in to them and need to graduate!) but have definately been a strong JJH fan. this just makes me sad (and definately shocked at the news)...the closest thing i can compare this too is the chris brown/rihanna scandal. i know that the circumstances are completely different but the shock is still the same. i don't want to be quick to jump to conclusions and ride the media bandwagon but...

:(, what more can be said?

like someone else mentioned hope JJH can work through this (and NO suicides or anything else of that nature!)

JJH did it when he was drunk and of course once is enough but he did it twice...however....he did not after.. and he did mention that he fear it and that is why he stop after that the 2 occassions..... thus he knew he can't do it anymore.................which he did not..............so why is he being penalised for mistake made in the past year and he did not do it again..........no sign of him taking recently before he was booked, right? how can he be put to jail but maybe community work, yes for getting involve in illegal activity (it's more understandable).......did not think that JJH is right but since he admitted and repented....JJH should be given a second chance......JJH is not a saint....he is just a human......and human makes mistakes like you and me...........

all the best to you JJH and all will be over soon.........be strong to face the consequences that you will be facing as all your fans will support you.......and your coming back to the limelight for sure!!! :)

aw thats sad, i was waiting for some huge thing from him like yoon eun hye from goong

@samsooki and whoever else involved in the debate
anyway aside from all the laws talk, if you're talking about drugs in korea, its really the culture thing, the media will paint a glittering red streak across your name and no one will hire you, even if you have fans supporting you, at least for some time anyway, and you have to show you are really really sorry.

unlike in the US where they actually give huge awards to people like amy winehouse even though shes publically using drugs in a massive way, (which is like saying, even if you take drugs, destroy your body, your performances, your relationships with people, because you make good music, i will give you a respected award in front of many many people who will support you. god i love her music so much, but that was really disgusting..) in asian culture, in terms of the media at least, its a huge booboo to use drugs because the whole image thing for alot of these prettyboyprettygirl celebrities is very important and protected, no one will endorse a drug user in asian countries because they will get hunted down by not just the law but also the fans
