Jo In-sung enlists

By now, we all know the drill.

Another 28-year-old actor (or, in this case, he’s a few months shy of 28) — who’s been hyping up his army departure for months, with a “last movie” (Frozen Flower), a “last fanmeeting” (in Japan), and a “last photo shoot” (for a clothing ad campaign) — finally heads off to complete his roughly two-year service in the military.

Jo In-sung enlisted on April 6, sent off with the requisite camera crew and crowd of about 200 fans.

Jo had originally received his papers last November and planned to enlist in January, but then pushed the day back in order to complete promo activities for his last film, Frozen Flower.

He debuted in 1998 as a CF model, then rose to fame after roles on the MBC Nonstop campus sitcom, dramas like What Happened in Bali and Spring Days, and movies like A Dirty Carnival.

He’ll serve for 25 months as part of a special performers’ unit (military band) in the air force.

@ Jill, yes, he looks the same as Jae Min!! I posted yesterday that I wondered how he would look like after cut his hair...and he's still gorgeous anyway.

I'll wait for his comeback! ( and please be hotter, like what had happened to Jang Hyuk, Ji Sung, etc. :P )

I really admire Korea's policy of ALL men serving their time in the military. I know that everybody is upset that actors are leaving but I think this type of experience keeps these actors grounded and no matter what stardom may come there way, they know that they are like everybody else...well, with much more gorgeous face, hair and ahem, body. I wish I can say the same about American actors. Some of them really need reality checks...

"By now, we all know the drill."

Yes we do. Male celeb goes through 5 week basic training then gets sent away with the star treatment by getting the plush, easy job.

Bogoshipda JIS -- you'll surely be missed! I kinda like that crewcut hair on him, he looks cute! He may be just smiling on the outside cause he looks upbeat on these photos. I remember seeing Kim Jae Won's departure where he was in tears or teary-eyed in one of the photos but Jo In Sung looks cheerful! We'll be waiting for your return JIS - aja fighting! Kidaril kke!

A lot of my favorite, gorgeous, great K actors are gone like Kim Jae Won, Jae Hee, Jo Hyun Jae and now Jo In sung and soon Kim Rae Won, Lee Dong Gun! Two yrs is quite a long time but we'll be waiting for you all to give us more great projects till then. May God bless you JIS & the others I mentioned while you're serving your duties.
Meanwhile some of our other Korean actors would be here like Song Seung Hyun, So Ji Sub, Soo Do Young and the new wave of young ones like Lee Min Ho, Kim Beum, Kim Jong Hyun (sorry if i'm mispelled your name), Kim Joon and others.

So this explains why there hasn't been any new work! I didn't realize he was serving. I agree with someone upthread that it's really good that all men serve two years (but why not women?). I'm surprised that more of the Dramas don't mention the men serving. I just saw Bottom of the Ninth, Two Outs (terrible title in English--I hope the Korean language version is better) and there's actually a plot point regarding the guy's service. I liked that a lot.

Anyways, he's adorable and he'll be even more handsome in two years.
