It was quite a while since I’ve seen the movie, and I thought I don’t rem much, but there were scenes that r exact replica. I bet that’s what the PD is going after, the nostalgia. Though it’s just couple minutes, but I must say HB’s Dong Soo is not what I rem fr JDG’s version. And I wonder if this is by design that DS may not be exactly the same fr the movie (or binnie’s fault…) I’ve to see more of KMJ.

I’m rewatching only scenes of these 2 fr Ireland. I watched Ireland as a BL drama just to keep myself going. I do agree with nycgirl, the plot/pace is very ‘trying’.

and me fangirling: ALL the guys (ok except one or 2 oddballs) r so super hot down to the unknowns. And they r going to be fighting and I saw binnie naked…boxing…um…

This drama is a mini-series remake of a 2001 movie called “Friend.” I think it is going to be 20 episodes.

What is interesting about this particular remake is that they filmed all the material in advance, and may have very little room to maneuver once it starts to air. If ratings go up or down or if people like certain aspects but not others, they may not have much ability to change the direction of the story lines or the characters.

The movie, and the drama, is about 4 friends from the industrial port city of Busan (B-4? LOL). The four friends names are:

lead – Dong-Soo (my Binnie)
lead – Joon-seok (Kim Min Joon)
Sang-Taek (Suh Do Young)
Joong Ho (Lee Si Un)

Binnie and Min Joon are the two main characters, and the early part of the series revolves around their high school years in the 1970′s, and then what happens after they graduate, and the downward arcs of the two leads as they struggle and fight to live their lives in the 1980′s.

if you want to know more about the series, you can find and watch the 2001 movie; however, I would anticipate that there will be very important structural and storyline differences between the movie and the series, obviously, so it won’t likely be a one-for-one importation.
