Round two: Magazine Allo vs. Style
Allo’s Han Chae-young, Lee Jia and Style Oh, I want Magazine Allo and Style to fight forever and ever, and keep the lulz flowing! Their back-and-forth sniping is sorta going to meta levels, isn’t it? After all, would you really expect less of two summer dramas starring glamour queens and set in the backstabby world... More »

Drinking interview with Kang Ji-hwan (Part 1)
I told ya I’d have some goodies coming up, didn’t I? IS Plus is one of those lighter entertainment news/gossip sources, but one thing I like is their series of “drinking interviews,” which are pretty much exactly like they sound: The reporter goes out to eat and drink with a star for a long interview.... Artists and entertainers: Where do they work?
Here’s something a little different. Cine 21 has an eleven-part profile of the workspaces of various entertainers, artists, and creative-arts professionals, which caught my eye because I am obsessed with workspaces. Well, maybe not obsessed, but very, very, very interested. I constantly fiddle with mine, think of ways to rearrange it, and dream of theoretical... More »

The Sons of Sol Pharmacy: Episodes 9-12
Cuuuute. This show is so sweet, but not saccharine. I find romance is best done sprinkled liberally with humor to undercut the sappiness, and so far The Sons of Sol Pharmacy achieves a good balance on that score. For instance: In the above screencap, the boys sing to Mama Song for Mother’s Day, which brings... More »

Open Thread #86
What’s up, folks? I’m actually (probably) on a plane as this Open Thread posts — I’ll be on a trip for the weekend so posting will be a little lighter, but be sure to check back ’cause I’ve got some goodies planned! Hehe. Gotta love delayed blog-posting functionality. Er, I mean supa-sonic time travel,... More »

Story of a Man: Episode 16
Ooh, more goodness abounds! I’m actually sad this drama’s ending next week. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a series on so many levels — for the acting, writing, directing, music, suspense, and perhaps most importantly, for the pure fun factor. (I know there are lots of criteria for judging a drama or... More »

Jang Geun-seok cast as murder suspect
Actors Jung Jin-young and Jang Geun-seok worked together in the 2007 Lee Jun-ik film Happy Life, and are re-teaming for a new film, Itaewon Murder Case [이태원 살인사건]. The story unfolds after a university student is found dead from a violent stabbing in the restroom of a fast-food restaurant in Itaewon, a shopping district in... More »

Strike Love wraps up two weeks early
Aw, this is too bad. MBC’s baseball drama Strike Love has been underperforming in its weekend time slot, and is now reducing its episode order. Rather than the planned 20, the drama will now end with Episode 16. MBC says that their agreement with the production company allows for anywhere from 16 to 20 episodes... More »

Brilliant Legacy gets extended
A drama that performs well right out of the gate is a drama the broadcast station wants to hold on to, so it’s no surprise that SBS’s Brilliant Legacy has confirmed a two-episode extension. Currently halfway through its run, the series is closing in on 30% ratings. Furthermore, a source from the production team said... More »
