Legend to be remade for movie audiences

Kind of. The “Yonsama”-led (Bae Yong-joon) 2007 drama Legend [태왕사신기] will be getting a newly edited version to be released in Japanese cinemas.
This “New Edition” will be cut into four movie-length parts and given a theatrical run. If each movie is approximately two hours long, the total eight hours will yield a condensed version of the drama’s 24 original episodes. The new edition will be arranged into the following four themes (and possible titles): Thousand-year Love, Crossed Fates, Omens of Farewell, and Impossible Love. The first will be released next spring, and tickets will begin to go on sale this fall (this fall?!).
As we know, the Japanese love Yonsama, and the fusion historical-fantasy Legend did well both in Korea and in Japan, so perhaps there’s still interest in this kind of project. I think it’s a great idea in theory, and perhaps it’s more commercially viable than I’m thinking. Legend has actually been screened in theaters before, back in 2007, and the 12 two-hour segments showed all 24 of the drama’s episodes. It was reportedly fairly popular.
A New Edition may actually turn out something quite interesting, because editing is a powerful tool and I’d be keen on watching a version of Legend with a tighter story and shorter running time.

This. . .is interesting.
it was a wonderful production and really did feel like it was a big-budget movie when I was watching it! i would be totally excited to see the props and action and fantastical scenes on the big screen!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (But a question..are they using the same cast? Please , don’t change )
And so.. only japan?
interesting, I don’t know if I’d watch it again…but The Legend was an awesome drama….the visual effects were really good and the story line also interesting..
I wonder why he has been out of the limelight for so long. He hasn’t been in a drama or movie in a while. And now they are reconstituting his old stuff. What gives?
if only they could re-do the ending.
wooowww… can’t wait to see this movies:) I just finished watching these dramas, it was amazing:)
Oh, come on. They really overdo.
That drama was quite good but not that awesome. There are better dramas. BYJ should give them a new drama/movie instead of constantly recyling old stuff.
I really enjoyed this drama, up until episodes 23 and 24, I thought the ending was poorly done
But its cool that they’re making this into movies.
yonsama!!!!! *swoon*
He really got me in this series….
the series itself…. I enjoyed “most” of it…as what is usual for historical drama, it has quite a number of episodes (am not really good with long, long dramas)…and tends to get “blah” and “urg! yeah, yeah, yeah..cmon” now and then ^-^…. but overall, I like this series….
“A New Edition may actually turn out something quite interesting, because editing is a powerful tool and I’d be keen on watching a version of Legend with a tighter story and shorter running time.” – I AGREE JAVAB… I WOULD LOVE TO WATCH THIS AGAIN..WITH ITS NEW VERSION (AND ESPECIALLY WITH A SHORTER RUNNING TIME!!!)
i liked the series a lot, but 24 episodes definitely felt long, so maybe a tighter story line will help.
I could see a tighter story by cutting out scenes of peripheral characters but certainly none of BYJs. And keep in all the fighting. I enjoyed the fights.
BYJ really milks all his projects for all they’re worth, doesn’t he? He’s been riding on Winter Sonata’s fame for almost an entire decade and made so many projects branching from that one drama. I know he’s a top earner in the K-ent industry but I wish he’d be more of an artist and less a businessman. I used to like him but now, not so much.
Geee…this BYJ appears to have tried using every opportunity available to exploit every bit of cash from his Japanese fans!!
BYJ is strictly a business man and moneymaker. He is not an actor in the true sense of the word. I very much doubt he is confident in himself as an actor ,and he is too stiff and unable to make a fool of himself in public, even in a drama or movie. Too conscious of self and position.
He is an excellent organiser when it comes to making lots of money and business connections. He can control that world very well.
the only role that he played well was that of Frank Shin in ‘Hotelier’
that was it.
