Trailer for Su Ae’s historical action film

Su Ae and Jo Seung-woo‘s new epic historical romance has a new trailer and posters out; the film, whose Korean title translates to Like Fireworks, Like a Butterfly [불꽃처럼 나비처럼], also goes by the English title Sword With No Name.

Based on the trailer, it looks like the movie will be as much action as it is romantic melodrama. Jo Seung-woo plays the warrior with whom Su Ae falls in love before she is named Empress Myeongseong, and becomes her bodyguard afterward.

It’s hard to tell based on such a short preview, and I sort of feel like I’ve seen this setup before, but I’d say it looks promising:

It only took one drama (9 End, 2 Outs) for me to become a huge fan of Su Ae; plus, I really love this sort of wuxia-style film, so I can't wait to see this.

I also love her husky voice. I think Su Ae may have ruined me for women in dramas who employ cutesy voices several decibels above their normal speaking range!

I may add this to my "watch" list. (I have many on that list, 50% I forget to watch... so I'm not sure if having a list is helpful......)

I want to see Su Ae dressed up as the Queen :O
Seeing her in a historical period from long ago makes me want to watch Sea God again~ I love that drama so much >.<

And the plot seems interesting... I've only heard the name Empress Myeongseong, but this is the first I'm watching a film about her.. >.>

@langdon813

My opinion exactly, word for word! Though this preview sort of starts off feeling like a tourism ad, but I will be on the lookout.

i enjoy Su Ae's acting and she looks beautiful in that green dress, but I don't think the plot is interesting enough for me to watch it. and the romance is doomed to be tragic and i'm a comedy sort of person.

dramabeans, you said the trailer is very familiar...
the whole thing screams Hero starring Jet Li. from the water battle to one man facing an army, this whole thing is like Hero except with koreans in it...

The trailer looked good to me. . . but I am a sucker for historical dramas, love the outfits and sets.
I will have to wait till it comes out with subs.

I knew it reminded me of something. It is like Hero.

I love Su Ae, she's so beautiful and sexy. This trailer totally reminds me of A Frozen Flower, but substitute a King for a Queen. Of course the plot is going to be different, but the general atmosphere feels very similar, and I guess it can't be helped since both movies deal with the forbidden love (different forbidden issues, of course) between a ruler and his/her bodyguard.

I'm going to watch it! I love epic battles fought by a loan hero. Sure, I've seen the set up before and I'm sure I'll see it again and again. Don't care. Love the fights. Overused plot? Eh, that's what the fast forward button is for.

Even though the plot sounds familiar and the swordplay been done before, I'm definitely watching for Su Ae. She's a brilliant actress, and I loved her in all her roles. She portrays strong yet vulnerable characters very well and she seems to be branching out in roles when she portrayed the offbeat immature character in 9 End 2 Outs. I'm sure I won't be disappointed in her acting.

to be honest I have yet to be completely convinced that any Korean movie is good. Some are okay, but most of the time I find them a complete bore. I dunno if it's just the style of story telling that a lot of Korean directors embrace, if so then I'm probably missing a good chunk of the culture then. I find it strange though that I can be so entertained by dramas, but bored to tears by movies.

However I will say that Korea's got some really good cinematographers. The trailer has some stunning looking scenes. I'd love it if someone posted screen shots at some point once this movie comes out. Also the costumes for the queen look absolutely fabulous, I'd probably go see it just for that. First time I've ever seen a historical drama incorpoarte western fashion.

It looks like something I would love. The music-costumes-colors-cgi- it has all those fantasy things I love. BUT - it looks like they both may die a miserable death at the end, which I just can't do anymore. ~sigh~

Oh, another one about the tragic Empress?

The plot seems similar to the MV of the drama (Empress Myeongseong, 2001)...

Oh, and they used again the Empress's fictional name (Ja-yeong); no accounts exist of her real name (due to the existing state ideal)

i loved the trailer..i 'm suprised you guys saying it's boring lol..it's maybe because you don't like historical movies:)

i actully thought the fighting scene were cool.. didn't felt a bit they were using wires bcz it was smooth.. the drum scene and preparing the queen was cool also..

umm but what is up with the first poster.. is she wearing the European dress??

Soo Ae looks absolutely gorgeous in the outfits!
But is it me or the trailer is just too HD? Not complaining, but I think it does look a lot like a tourism Ad..

I think the movie looks promising as I have yet to see a historical Korean movie. Even if everything does look like it's been done before, I could care less because there's always more than one way to tell the same story- and besides, it's Su Ae!!

You took the words right out of my head.
