Another Sol Pharmacy son gains endorsement power
by | September 16, 2009 | 21 Comments

KBS’s warm family drama Sons of Sol Pharmacy is doing 40% ratings and has given its cast heightened profiles. For known actors like Lee Pil-mo (Dae-pung) and Han Sang-jin (Sun-pung), this means an increase in popularity and more endorsement deals. For a newbie like 22-year-old Ji Chang-wook (youngest brother Mi-pung), it means a sudden shot to stardom out of obscurity.

Now Ji Chang-wook has scored his own advertising deal, and will appear alongside Gu Hye-sun as the new brand model for Shinhan Financial Group. They recently shot a CF together playing boyfriend and girlfriend, which shows an image shift for Ji. While he currently plays the sweet, timid (and “sissy”) Mi-pung in Sol Pharmacy, his new CF image portrays him as “wolfish” and assertive.

His drama role has also led to multiple offers for follow-up projects, as well as potential CF advertising deals. Ji Chang-wook made his debut in the 2006 film Days… [데이즈] and had a role in the 2008 drama I Like You [난 네게 반했어]

  7. Z

    He looks really good here! He does nothing for me on the show because he plays the sissy role a little too well; but (girly purple sweater aside) he cleans up well.

  8. LTK

    He’s adorable! I love him in SOS (just so sweet) and like him even more now that I know he’s over the age of majority! :P

    @ iwasing

    It improves a lot later… and the story is a lot more interesting once you get down to the “meat” of the show when the main plots unravel i.e. after the first 10 or so episodes..

    I am obsessed with show and its characters.. but am getting tired of the hype.. I think the hype has created a less good show for the recent episodes… That doesn’t stop me from obsessing over it..
    I think I might even rewatch it! =P

    awww, so cute! his role is the least of the 4 bros (so far to ep 30), so I’m glad to see he wasn’t overlooked.

    @whoa — yeah, much better w/ longer hair. ^^;;;

    @icarusfalls
    I SO AGREE.

    this show is so good (because i really dislike daily dramas but this is one good exception) i will definitely put it on the list of dramas to rewatch. (another 50 episodes?? no problem!!)

    Ay, I stopped watching Sol quite sometime ago, and the last time I checked Mi-pung wasn’t this cute!

    Gotta check out that CF when it comes out ^^

  19. 19 otk

    what if he ended up in Playful Kiss ?…you never know….

  20. 20 chajjye

    @otk: nah. he can’t. can he? that would be quite a range for his acting, no? from sissy sweet to cold smart. ooh. that’d be cool.

    XD

    sol (from kbs world) have got a little melo during the breakup scenes, but the writers never forget to insert humor along the way. i think it’s a bit draggy, but i love how they balanced the whole thing without being too melo. this, i have to thank song dae pung, his dad, his grandfather, sunpung and the parents-in-law. XD

    i love jin pung’s story though. it’s so bittersweet. he has to oblige as the eldest son while his heart pines for another. sigh. kdrama cliche but done so well. GREAT ACTING! XD

    I think they realized he was being too girly, so they made him more manly/boyish since the time he visits his friend in the military with Hana’s mom… What is Hana’s mom’s name again.. lol.. she will forever be Hana’s mom in my books which is sad.. Just like Mari’s Aunt (Kumo)..
    But I wish he could stop studying for college and go into fashion school or designer school or something.. he has some mean talent in sewing.. his mom should let me use it..
    @ chajjye -I love the acting as well.. and I LOVE THE DAD!! He is awesome!!! =D
