Heading to the Ground’s press conference day

Lee Yoon-ji, Jung Yun-ho, Go Ara, Lee Sang-yoon

Heading to the Ground is nearing its air date, and held its production press conference on the afternoon of September 2 at Seoul’s Hyatt Hotel. The MBC series stars U-Know Yunho (aka Jung Yun-ho) in his acting debut, along with Go Ara, Lee Yoon-ji, and Lee Sang-yoon.

Man, these dramas premiere and end in such quick succession that it’s hard keeping track of the latest, isn’t it? The horror series Hon is about to hand off its Wednesday-Thursday timeslot to the new soccer drama, after it finishes with its tenth episode this week.

As the drama’s main character, not only does U-Know Yunho carry much of the drama’s burden of expectations, there’s also heightened scrutiny as this is his debut role. The pop singer recently expressed his feelings on his debut, and while I approach the acting debuts of singers with wariness, they’re not always uniformly negative experiences. (People may disagree, but I thought Min Hyo-rin aquitted herself quite well in Triple; she wasn’t perfect, but good enough that it wasn’t readily apparent that she’d never acted before. Im Joo-eun, the ingĂ©nue lead actress of Hon, is another example of a newbie making good, though she didn’t come from the pop world.) So we’ll have to wait to see how Yun-ho handles himself.

Heading airs its first episode on September 9.

Not really liking Go Ara’s outfit there. The leggings don’t really match her dress. One’s edgy and rocky with creases, while the latter is smooth satin.

Anyway, besides from the fashion, I’m looking forward to this drama. It will be interesting to see how Yunho takes up the challenge to transition from being a pop star to an actor. I agree about Min Hyo Rin. Even though she was quite new, she played her part as Haru pretty convincingly. I loved it when she and Hwal had their moments. They’re awkward but so I-want-you-to-get-together-but-I-know-you-can’t sort of moments.

wow, was go ara always that tall? even with those heels i thought she’d be a lot shorter than the guys!

i hate that ‘hwaiting’ pose they always make them do at press conferences LOL. it’s always so awkward

edit: all the leads are looking really great here! though i’m particularly drawn to yunho :3

  3. chajjye

i love lee yoonji new look. ah, i don’t want to watch this, but lee yoon ji is in it. how…

  4. JO

Lee Sang Yoon is by himself. How sad.

  5. han cougar

be watching this series as soon as it is broadcast. I am sure the lead actor will
do an excellent acting job given the chance. The lead actor/actress makes
nice well matched couple. Fighting HTTG!

How I wish Lee Yoon-ji was the leading female v.v I really liked her in Pure19 ^^

  7. Andrea

    My Yoonji’s looking good!

  8. Yoo Jin

I’m just watching this because of Lee Yoon-ji lol XD I honestly have no interest in Yunho…i think the other guy is cuter >.< *gets bricked by DBSK fans*
Go Ara is a good actress but can be stiff sometimes.

Lee Yoon-ji looks gorgeous here though, she looks best in short hair =]

Finally, a drama I could actually ignore. This is the stuff of nightmares for me, giving an inexperienced idol a role in a drama, no wait, giving an inexperienced idol the LEAD in a drama! Memories of Kangta in Loveholic and Kim Hyun Joong in BOF are still fresh in my mind, ughhh!!! And Go Ara to me is nothing but a pretty face. She’s sooo boring. Killed Nuguseyo for me. Sveta is right, they should have given Lee Yoon Ji the lead. Come to think of it, they should have also given the male lead to the other guy, Lee Sang Yoon.

It’s about time that fangirls(and some fanboys) realise that their idols are not infallible little demigods. At least I know what I’ll be doing, avoiding this drama like the plague. Mind you, with the quality of the other dramas currently running on the same timeslot, we can tell where this drama will be heading(oh yes, pun absolutely intended!).

hanjanman@ agree im not looking forward to this drama but if java caps ill read only because we have similar taste in drama. Although something tells me this is gonna be another brilliant legacy east of eden drama with bunch of pretty faces with no acting ability.

I wish Lee Yoon Ji is the leading female bcoz i think it will suit the role more than Ara
if i have enough time to waste may be i’ll watch this drama

  15. 15 sittie

    i try to watch….

  16. 16 changmaz

i saw the teasers and all i can see is over the top acting. Yunho is overacting on this one. I’m not sure what to expect, i like yunho but i saw his acting before in banjun and their cfs and mvs, yunho can sometimes overdo it and his facial expression irritates me to the extent.

  17. 17 meirav

can’t wait lee sang yoon is my faroite actor

  18. 18 goh

lol hanjanman, you sure did write a lot for a drama you said you want to ignore. interesting ^^. also, not all fangirls think their idols are infallible. i certainly don’t.

anyway, i’m looking forward to this. :) thanks, javabeans, for the pics!

kang hei bin aka GO ARA is always good looking, she is so cute….

admittedly, the story is actually interesting. reminded me of the story of Captain Tsubasa manga. so, it is very odd when I know the film is less popular since South Korea is one of the host country of the world cup 2002. (I think, this country also love football, I was wrong ^ ^). screening of the drama in Indonesia has a very precise moment, because it welcomes the 2010 World Cup, I think it is the biggest problem you guys, but for me no problem, very fun to watch it twice
