    OMG YOO AH-IN!!!!!!

    That is all. :D

Okay, that’s not all. I think JGS is a case of being talented without knowing how to channel it. I don’t really get the sense that he takes acting very seriously (which is an impression enhanced by behind the scenes looks and interviews) which is a damned shame. He’s like the polar opposite of JIW, who I still contend may not have as much natural talent but oh man does he work hard to make up for it. Which will go farther in his career, intense hard work or raw talent? My money’s on hard work.

    Yoo Ah-in is wonderful.

And to jump in belatedly on the HGD talk, it’s weird how I enjoyed it, but it’s not a drama I can recommend openly. It comes with a lot of caveats. And while in most cases recapping enhances my appreciation for a drama, I actually think in HGD’s case it was the opposite, sadly.

The problem with Jang Geon Suk is that some point in his career, he wanted/ had to be a Man. Could be his adolescence, could be management, could be the demands of his awesome hair, but at some point being a Man was more important than being Jang Geon Suk.

He was a wonderful child actor. And his resemblance to Jo In Sung probably set him off in similar career direction. When he smiles and doesn’t attempt anything resembling gravity, you get a more authentic JGS performance.

    @ belleza

    Being a Man? or being a guyliner/dead animal-wearing, cross-dressing fairy? ;)

    @ JB

I get that same impression with JGS. He seems to be coasting with his talent…and while he may still garner plenty of [idol-type] success, I can’t see him winning critical accolades, unless he starts taking his acting seriously.

Another child actor I’m curious to see how he turns out is Baek Sung Hyun.
His acting was okay in That Fool (liked his character & chemistry with Hwang Jung Min, but he’s still got a long way to go). We’ll see how he does in Like The Moon Escaping From The Clouds.

    “Being a Man? or being a guyliner/dead animal-wearing, cross-dressing fairy?”

If he did more of the latter, he’d be further along. :D

In his adult roles, he’s emphasized playing morose, weighty, moody, and so on. He’s trying to be a Man when he’s really at his best being a goofy, crying weirdo who likes fake fur and magic wands . . .

God this show is going to be GREAT. Mommy can I have my unicorn now? :D

“but at some point being a Man was more important than being Jang Geon Suk” and “And his resemblance to Jo In Sung probably set him off in similar career direction”

So, then pairing was Ha Ji Won and Jang Geon-soek in Hwangjini must have been a meta-goldmine following the come hell or more hell love affair of HJW and Jo In Sung in WHIB. HJW turns into a gisaeng with a heart of gold and seduces a baby JIS in JGS, awesome!

I though JGS was taking acting seriously, what with his turn in Beethovan Virus and learning from the master himself? It’s not their fault that BV turned into…..what it turned into (I blame Lee Jia – but I tend to blame Lee Jia for everything and anything – so I’m totally biased and should stop now on this subject).

I wonder what would have happened has he taken the role of Gu Jun-pyo instead of angling for Ji-hoo in BBF. Probably a career high for him, instead this random slickness he’s going for instead.

Does anything think Jo In Sung is like a baby version of Jung Woo Sung (totally random – but after watching a Moment to Remember, I was struck by their physical resemblance and demeanor – but of course JSW is da man, JIS is yet to arrive at da man status in my eyes).

    @ JB

I agree, hard work trumps sheer talent in the long run. That’s why its a shame when sheer talent doesn’t put in the hard work, because hard work sure can’t materialize sheer talent on will power alone. So sheer talent already has an unfair advantage, and to not capitalize, well, that’s just criminal in my book.

JIS was regularly cast opposite older women (even Nonstop), and so he became a favorite “noona boy.” After Hwang Ji-ni, same thing kinda happened to JGS . Originally Jo Jae Hyun was going to play the would-be prince in Hong Gil Dong. He’s kinda gotten into a track of playing just about every character as moody and sullen. Which is the opposite of his BTS and when he performs live, then he turns into a goofball and it’s really disarming.

JIS left an impression on me during his short appearance on Four Women. I thought, “wow, this character’s really vulnerable and confused in this scene.” He was disarming and sweet in Hwang Ji-ni. (But then again, he was also really happy to be kissing Ha Ji Won. Oppa. Pout. Wiggle. :D )

See, what is a k-drama, but food?

There are a lot of different kinds of food. Some food nourishes, and tastes good. Some food tastes good, but bad for you. Some food tastes bad, is bad for you, and should be eaten only as punishment. You get the picture. Sometimes, I think that k-drama watching peepz can be a bit on the foodie side of things.

Isn’t the bottom line, just about taste?

To me, Sung Yuri is like salt-water taffy. Who doesn’t like salt-water taffy? Sure, it is candy, but that don’t make it wrong. People can’t have meat and potatoes all the time. There is a time and place for everything, and salt-water taffy rocks.

    :)

But you know, I’m just a simple k-drama watching lawyer. I am not familiar with Belleza’s encyclopaedic knowledge of all things drama / dorama. She scares me. When I watch a drama, sometimes I wonder how they make the people so small as to fit onto my television? I don’t know. It’s because I’m just a simple k-drama watching lawyer – that’s the way I think.

But here’s what I do know. Sung Yuri, Eugene and Yoon Eun Hye all rock and we should all be grateful they aren’t still manu-k-popping.

    Thank you.

  8. 208 hjkomo

    @ ockoala

JGS in BV was exactly, as belleza put it, him trying to be a Man by playing morose, weighty, moody, etc. The result was him looking like a whiny, self-obsessed adolescent. You’d think he would’ve learned something from Kim Myung Min. Go figure.

“I watched The Good, The Bad, The Weird last night again, this time with hubby…”

Hey, maybe I should try that…..all I get is hubby joining a band and threatening to buy a ridiculously expensive saxophone…and comments like – You just wanna look at hot Korean men & wish you married one of them, don’t you? Lol. :P

Edit: HGD was originally supposed to star Jo Hyun Jae and Joo Ji Hoon. O_O

  9. 209 ockoala

    @ Samsooki

“Sung Yuri, Eugene and Yoon Eun Hye all rock and we should all be grateful they aren’t still manu-k-popping”

Amen, that’s my personal feelings on these three lovely ladies as well, having watched the majority of their works, good and bad alike. They may not be the bestest actresses of all time, but I just enjoy watching them on screen, one glows (YEH), one purrs (SYR), and one brightens (Eugene).

    @ belleza

JGS – “He was disarming and sweet in Hwang Ji-ni. (But then again, he was also really happy to be kissing Ha Ji Won. Oppa. Pout. Wiggle. )”

I read that JGS admitted to a crush on HJW during Hwangjini. Likewise, I heard JIS “dated” Our Mishil after Spring Days? Regardless of any truth to these dishy rumors, it appears that JIS and JGS take the noona killer/lover mantle quite seriously.

I think so far, JGS has always played against older women, the youngest looking probably being SYR in HGD. Lee Jia and HJW are definitely noonas. So I’m mildy intrigued by him playing his age, playing against his age-appropriate counterpart in You’re Beautiful. Epic breakout or epic fail? Probably neither – I still think You’re Beautiful rides on the plot and direction of the Hong Sisters team ultimately.

As for 1000 Years of Love – I……have no words to describe the experience of watching that “drama”, and I only watched up to the 6th episode (but got to hear the entrails dialogue from SYR, yay!). Love to hear a more complete review, if you are up to it. It was like a bizarro version of anything resembling k-drama – made me wonder if I had fallen into a alternate universe along with these actors.

  10. 210 belleza

    @samsooki,

“To me, Sung Yuri is like salt-water taffy. Who doesn’t like salt-water taffy? Sure, it is candy, but that don’t make it wrong.”

At the end of the day, I root for Sung Yu Ri because she took her lumps with class and she kept on working at her craft. Just like I root for Song Seung Heon because . . . okay well, he’s Song Seung Heon. He has one or two facial expressions, but they are facial expressions chiselled by a god. :D

Anyway, I wrote this about Sung Yu Ri at D-addicts . . . <To me, she's kinda like the female Song Seung Hun or Yamapi. She's kinda like a puppy, a really lovable puppy. She barks; she whimpers; she looks really cute with a choker. In One Fine Day, she just wants to find a home. In Snow Queen, she snarls. And so on.

“Likewise, I heard JIS “dated” Our Mishil after Spring Days?”

So, the thing with This Mishil (aka Ko Hyung Jung, but we’re gonna keep calling her This Mishil) is that, post-comeback, she became the Uber-Noona of K-drama. First role back, she’s cast opposite Jo In Sung, who is 10 years her juinior. Second role, she’s cast opposite Chun Jung Myung, who’s 9 years her junior. Third role, she’s cast opposite Ha Jung Woo, who’s 8 years her junior. In Queen Seon Duk, This Mishil’s probably in her 50s-60s. But she does she grey hair? No. This Mishil consults the Heavens, but defies the Heavens. Aging? There is no Heaven’s Will!! There is only Mishil’s Will!!! And Mishil’s Will states that she plays trendies against younger men pretty much for the rest of her career!!

I heard the rumours too, but This Mishil has always been popular with the guy actors and is kind of a mommy around Jo In Sung. Before Memories of Bali, Jo In Sung was considered of the worst actors in Korea (kinda like, well, the male Sung Yu Ri.) Then he went on to win the Baeksang and within 3 years was now considered one of the most promising actors of his generation. JIS is to me Korea’s John Travolta, that is the Travolta of Welcome Back Kotter, Saturday Night Fever, and Grease.

“(but got to hear the entrails dialogue from SYR, yay!).”

Oh oh I found the 2nd greatest line in the history of K-drama!!

Princess Sung Yu Ri: “There are some people whom I won’t be satisfied with, even if I took out their LIVERS and chewed them! ” <– Take THAT Kingdom of Shilla!!

"Love to hear a more complete review, if you are up to it."

Yeah, this is what I told Kobe over at d-addicts . . .

See, my hunch is that if you survive the first two episodes of Thousand Year of Love (which is godawful — it’s like a homage to 80s wuxia made by broke college film grads for Youtube!!), you might actually like this show.

I’m almost halfway through — this show isn’t actually good, but the humor is genuinely . . . wrong. Big Smile
Essentially a typical scene goes like this . . .

Stranger 1: This bitch is crazy!
Stranger 2: This bitch is an idiot!
Sung Yuri: *pouts* *cries a little*
Stranger 1: Yeah, but she’s really adorable.
    Stranger 2: Bitch *is* cute
    Sung Yuri: *brightens up*
    Stranger 1/2: Ahhhhhhh

This is played over and over again, and yeah the misogyny is definitely there. (There’s one scene where our hapless princess is a go-go dancer . . .) Seriously, this is maybe the first Korean romance show I’ve seen that was marketed for girls, but written for men. I mean, I should be really offended with this show, but it’s really funny when you watch it this way.

So, the thing is, if you watch 1000 Years of Love, THEN you watch Memories of Bali. You actually do see that connection with the writer.

@langdon813 I FINALLY finished Return of Iljimae. I was crying nonstop from epi 22 on. This is ONE OF MY FAVORITE! I normally do not watch period kdrama(except POTW, Dai Jang Geum, and HGD), but I think this kdrama was perfectly directed and acted. Poor JIW- his talent is really wasted in MFL. Sometimes, I think his role there is really insignificant. JlW acted so well in ROI that I can feel all his angers, sadness, and frustrations just through his eyes.( I think I will try to find his earlier work, High Kick, and see how much JIW has improved) vs in MFL, poor JIW “just pops in once a while and acts out of jealousy”.
Now that I’m emotionally drained from ROI, I think I can finally get my luggages and go to the island(Tamra Island, that is) and join the Team Park Kyu( I don’t even know what the drama is about -yet)

***personal update*** Our whole family has rallied together and doing our best to help my poor cousin. I even looked up some of my old friends to find any new treatment plans for her. I contacted my cousin-in-law,who is an oncologist in the Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and get his opinions/expertise on the matter( She is from my father’s side while he married my Mom’s niece). Anyway, as I told my Mom, time like this, it’s good to have a large family. There bounds to have someone who can help in such time of needs.Again, I want to thank you all -my newly found “friends and family” here in OT-for the caring thoughts and prayers.

***Most important***My sincere best wishes and prayers for all who is suffering in the Phillippines and Indonesia. I hope you all are doing well, and that the proper assistances have either arrived or on the way.

It happened in Bali was my introduction to the addictive nature of K drama, back before I started watching. It was one of the dramas that the library divided into 20 individual parts, either out of fairness to the fans or a desire to get 20 circulation statistics instead of just one for the set. My branch had had something more than the first half of the set on the shelf, and a patron who had seen the first 13 came to the desk to ask about number 14. It was checked out, but she needed it NOW. I explained that I could place a hold, but it would be a while before it came in. NO, NO, NO — NOW please. We reached an impasse, and she came back in a while with her daughter or daughter-in-law, to explain to me how really, really necessary it was to get episode 14 today. The story did not have a happy ending, because there was simply no way to get episode 14 any faster.

When I was in the midst of Full House and had to wait 4 days for the next part to come in, I suddenly knew exactly how she felt. It wasn’t even very good, but I wanted to see the rest of it NOW!!! I think of her whenever I see random discs of It Happened in Bali on the shelf.

@lovenyc52 I hope you didn’t miss this week’s NCIS. I was both laughing and awwwing during the DiNozzo/Ziva men’s room scene. I was lol’ing how DiNozzo was singing the little Jewish(?) nursery rhymn (that Abby and McGee sang last episode), but awwing when Ziva and he had that intense/almost gonna kiss moment. I actually felt, for the first time, the love Ziva is feeling toward DiNozza while she was looking at him( so sweet). Geez, CBS know how to lure me back for the next episode…

  14. 214 langdon813

Hey cingdoc, I wondered how you were coming along with ROI…it really is wonderful, isn’t it? I cried buckets over that one too! Between that and Tamra it was a tough weekend, but worth every tear. You’re so right about JIW; he could have been wearing a mask throughout the entire drama and we still would have known his every emotion and thought just by looking at his eyes.

    Speaking of eye-acting…So Ji-sub. WOW!!! I was told…but now I believe! :-D

Glutton for punishment that I am, I started I’m Sorry, I Love You / MiSa a couple of days ago and am up to Ep 14. I’ll probably save my thoughts on that for this Friday’s OT.

Tonight I’m going to spend a couple of hours with my little baby Kim Bum and finish Dream. :-)

Continued prayers go out to you and your cousin…miracles happen every day!

  15. 215 belleza

Watching the Chinese 60th Anniversary Parade.

You know, fascism is kinda awesome. ;) Anybody know where I can maybe get a HD version of the parade?

    @langdon813,

“Glutton for punishment that I am, I started I’m Sorry, I Love You / MiSa a couple of days ago and am up to Ep 14.”

    Sarangae. Sarangae!!! SARANAGAE!!!!! *blubbers incoherently*

Get ready for The Ramen Scene ;)

    @ cingdoc

I pray for your cousin and her ongoing battle, may she find comfort in having the best medical care and the love of her family and friends.

    @ langdon-unni

MiSa and So Ji Sub, it’s like you can’t mention one without the other. Perhaps I will recommend you check out WHIB someday, it might just help you ease off the void left by SJS after MiSa.

I can’t believe you have so many ongoing dramas on your plate – I tend to do one at a time, unless it’s a currently airing drama.

I’m waiting to buy Tamra DVD, hence my not getting on the boat just yet. I’m not even sweating the wait, cuz I found a new outlet and it’s oh so charming, manly, tall, of very few words but says it all with a gesture and a head nod.

Can you guess who? I’ve watched 2 of his movies in the last 3 days, and I picked winners all right, both were very good, though not nearly as sad and weepy and people make it out to be. Probably cuz I’m not quick to cry anymore.

I’ll give you a quick guess – he almost stole a movie from my LBH, a hairsbreadth, but I conclude the two men were equally mesmerizing and awesome. On equal footing, to say the least.

I also had a equally bad taste encounter last night – I should have watched another of my mystery eye candy’s movies – but I instead opted to read Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol. One word review – atrocious. End of review.

  17. 217 belleza

“Perhaps I will recommend you check out WHIB someday, it might just help you ease off the void left by SJS after MiSa.”

WHIB’s pretty brutal though. I’d probably go with “We Are Dating Now.” The first half of the show plays like Friends (i.e. Chae Rim = Rachel, SJS = Ross) Or the Greatest Saguek In The History of K-Drama, “1000 Years of Love.” He dies in the first episode, and then he’s fine for the rest of the show! ;)

  18. 218 langdon813

    @216 ockoala-dongsaeng

Hmm…it’s early morning and Samsooki hasn’t lent me his thinking cap this week, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess (MINE) Jung Woo-sung? A Moment to Remember and Sad Movie, maybe?

I’m up to Ep 15 of MiSa now. It’s tough! But I can do this…I know I can do this. I lived through Snow Queen, after all. But DAMN…every time that little snippet of piano music starts to play, I die a little inside. :-(

  19. 219 ockoala

    @ langdon-unni

“gonna go out on a limb and guess (MINE) Jung Woo-sung”

Ha ha ha, right and wrong, dear sister of my drama loving heart. Right – yes, my last few happy nights were spent with Jung Woo-sung, and wrong – claiming he’s yours, we’ll see about that, I know a few other ladies who will politely disagree with you. ;-) However, let’s just share him to prevent any bloodshed, m’kay?

I watched A Moment to Remember and Daisy. Son Ye-jin, she continues to reaffirm all my love for her screen presence and natural emotive ability, AMTR was a lovely, lovely pairing of the two. I’m not enamored of Jeon Ji-hyun, I also enjoyed Daisy much.

I’m planning to watch The Restless tonight…..and I hate to seem like an anti or belabor the point, but the few snippets I’ve seen of KTH is pretty awkward, sigh. Will still watch it with an open mind and try not to compare too much to the standard HK wuxia-fantasy fare I’ve grown up on.

    @ belleza

I’ll check out We Are Dating Now to see what it’s about. As for 1000 Years of Love, I’ m plumb out of crazy juice and can’t possibility appreciate the sheer entertainment value of that drama, so thanks for the awesome capsule review.

  20. 220 langdon813

    @219 ockoala-dongsaeng

Daisy was my 3rd guess! That’s the first movie I ever saw JWS in, so it has a special place in my heart. AMTR…is just magical. I know Belleza thinks that MiSa is the best portrait of a man falling in love (and it is wonderful), but for me, JWS as Son Ye-jin’s reluctant (yet powerless to resist) lover is the stuff of dreams.

As for The Restless, if you go in strictly to appreciate The Mane of Glory (and really, is there a better reason?), you can’t go wrong. I still need to finish it myself.

  21. 221 epyc

    @ ockoala

I also watched Daisy and A Moment to Remember back to back simply for the sake of JWS! I started with Daisy and discovered the awesome JWS for the first time. Needless to say, it was an OMG discovery – how can a man be so manly and lovely at the same time?! I immediately dug out the AMTR which I bought for sometime. I like AMTR much better although I’m not into weepie movies but it’s so worth it for both JWS and SYJ, they are simply a devine pairing. I adopted your ‘Goong strategy’ whenever I rewatch AMTR: the second half or the last third of the movie doesn’t exist to me! You should go watch Sad Movie which as langdon and others said at a previous OT is a bit like Love Actually, an ensemble piece which I really like. I am now looking forward to seeing his new movie with GYY in which, I read somewhere, both will talk to each other in English only.

    @ We are Dating Now

This is a comfy drama, with Chae Rim and SJS in roles similar to Rachel and Ross as described by Belleza. SJS is so dorky there! For the hell of my life, I wouldn’t try 1000 years of love either.

I just finished two dramas back to back: The Man Who Can’t Get Married and Spotlight. To my big surprise, I really enjoy Spotlight, much more than TMWCGM. As I’m not into Sageuk, I have never watched Jewel of Palace in full. The only other JJH’s work that I’ve watched is the movie Perhaps Love, in which he plays a supporting role. So this is my first serious watch of JJH. His pairing with SYJ is plesant to watch (and hey, SYJ will make any pairing good, won’t she?) Luckily, I know in advance that there is no romance in this drama or else, I would be as disappointed as those who watched it live to expect something between the two. The drama is focussed on journalism integrity and very gripping. I wish the finale could be more convincingly constructed, and any hint of a blossoming romance between JJH and SYJ would be even better. The supporting cast is great and I love the camaraderie shown among them.

  22. 222 ockoala

    @ langdon-unni

“JWS as Son Ye-jin’s reluctant (yet powerless to resist) lover is the stuff of dreams.”

Yes, yes, a million times yes – sometimes its the actor that sells the character (see LBH as ice prince turned uber-lover Min-chul in Beautiful Days – most anyone else, the character would have been an epic dud), and sometimes, the character overwhelms the actor (see Jang Geun-soek as Prince Kang-whe in HGD – I adore sweet faced JGS, but he was no manly prince capable of going mano-a-mano with Kang Ji-hwan).

In AMTR – it was like alchemy, both actor and the character he was portraying was a perfect fit, and together, we’re left with the indelible memory of a more perfect man there could not possibly exist.

I’m quoting another reviewer of AMTR about JWS:

“Jung Woo-Sung may look like a hunky Asian version of Peter Brady, but he’s a likable manly lunk whose biggest detriment is that he comes from fantasyland. Ladies, get this straight: guys like Choi Chol-Soo DO NOT exist in real life. You’d have a better chance of finding Bigfoot than a sensitive, loving, and yet utterly righteous dude like Choi Chol-Soo. Give Jung Woo-Sung credit; he sells the character, and manages to carry A Moment to Remember’s maudlin extremes. If this is a good movie, then the stars are half of it.”

Sigh, I didn’t want to wax rapsodic about JWS without first saying something about his leading ladies, cuz I can go on and on and on about JWS in AMTR and Daisy – he’s luckily got the leading man physique, and paired with his sly but grounded acting skills, he’s 100% hunk with a heart.

    @ epyc

I’ll check out Sad Movie after I finish The Restless. Langdon mentioned something about the “Mane of Glory” If it’s anything like the current rage “Pama of Chaebol princelings” I’m all in. I like to spend time with hair pieces.

  23. 223 langdon813

Forgot to say…Dream has ended and I’ll finish MiSa by tonight, so that’s two cleared off the plate!

I’m planning to dive into Hong Gil Dong in earnest this weekend, but I’m not quite ready to get off the SJS Love Train, so I might check out We Are Dating Now. OR maybe 1000 Years of Love…there’s just been too much snark about it for me not to at least check it out!

    Has anyone seen Rough Cut?

  24. 224 langdon813

Another thing I meant to ask…is anyone going to the San Diego Asian Film Festival in a couple of weeks? I really wanted to, but there was no way I could make it this year. I’m going to try to go next year for sure.

  25. 225 belleza

“OR maybe 1000 Years of Love…”

The first 15 minutes of 1000 Years of Love is glorious, GLORIOUS I say!! Watching our Paekche Princess “jump” into a “waterfall” (with clear bluescreen artifacts in tact!!) Why it left me in tears, Tears I say!!

Rough Cut is pretty gritty stuff. Kim Ki Duk’s scripts often set up a climax is resolved by extreme physical and/or emotional violence. Rough Cut isn’t all that different. Kang Ji Hwan plays an actor in search of an authentic “something”, and in the film, he basically gets “educated by pain.” So Ji Sup plays a gangster who essentially functions as a dispassionate, sometimes disgusting counterpoint to KJH’s actor character. The movie searches for even handed coverage of both characters, perhaps to provide a smooth dialectical nanrrative to the themes of the movie (i.e. “fact vs. fiction”, “authentic masculinity”, viewer’s tastes for violence and general suffering, etc.) But, I thought the movie would have flowed better had it not focused on So Ji Sup’s character so much. We’re already well acquainted with gangsters who think about giving up the life. It’s not necessary to regurgitate that.

Film is good though. There’s one scene with an actress that’s . . . but, otherwise it’s a good showcase for both actors. Kang Ji Hwan’s good at playing hotheads and he’s good here. So Ji Sup’s strength as an actor isn’t so much about intensity, but that he’s exceptional at interpreting irony. The key to his performance in MiSa is that he plays most of the sad, dark bits as if it were comedy, and the lovey-dovey bits as if it were tragedy. It’s rarely a straight performance. He plays the gangster as such here; he finds most of their grim situations rather entertaining, and it gives him a creepy, enigmatic vibe.

BTW, if the MiSa ending kinda puts you on a downer, you can get a quickie So Ji Sup pick-me-up by Youtubing for his 20 minute short “U-Turn” (the one with Lee Yeon Hee) It’s basically a glorified commercial, but he’s sweet in an angry sort of way in it.

  26. 226 langdon813

Oh my God. I was FINE until the ramen scene. FINE!!! Not one tear shed…not one!

    SCARRED. FOR. LIFE.

    @langdon813,

Yeah, The Ramen Scene haunted my brother’s wife for like a month. Having to accept the circumstances seems so, so cruel.

So Ji Sup wasn’t sure whether he could do The Ramen Scene. But, he said that it just came out, when he thought his own mom.

MiSa’s plot can be broken down into Favorite Scenes . . . OF PAIN!! :D

    1) The Ramen Scene
    2) The Sarangae Scene
    3) The Promise Scene
    4) The Argument in the Car Scene <– my all-time favorite scene in K-drama; first time I watched it, I actually wondered whether So Ji Sup invented a new kind of K-drama acting there!
    5) The Drunk Kiss Scene

Here you go. A MV dedicated the Greatest Couple in the History of K-drama Sitcom — So Ji Sup and Kim Sun Ah (okay, not really, I don’t think they got together in Joa-Joa)

And the Greatest Korean Sitcom Episode of All Time (Kim Sun Ah + Chae Rim + WON BIN!!!!)

    @ belleza

I will remember your recitation of the MiSa scenes when I am finishing it. Makes me salivate to watch it now.

As for the SJS-KSA MV, thank you, thank you!

Like I said in many OTs ago, Kin Suh Ah has kissed/acted with collectively the best kissers in k-drama that I have seen – Cha Seung Won, So Ji Sub, Hyun Bin, Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Gun. She is such a chameleon on screen.

    @ langdon-unni

I like to think I’m not fickle and terribly inconstant, but after watching a series of Jung Woo-sung movies, that man has made me do something I have yet to do, even with LBH, shell out dough to buy official releases of his movies. It’s so worth owning, and watching on the big screen.

    See y’all tomorrow!

Oops…I lied. When I thought back, I did shed a few tears when he deleted the pics she had taken of him sleeping. Holy * * * * ! Moo Hyuk, that was harsh! But the ramen scene? Full on sobbing for pretty much the rest of the show.

But I am nothing if not resilient…Won Bin (with long hair! Me likey!) helped my recovery tremendously. For now, anyway. I suspect Moo Hyuk will stay with me for a long time. Sigh…now I’m sad again. :-(

Happy Birthday Kim Sun-ah! Hope Cha Seung-won came to your party and planted a big wet kiss (or two) right on your adorable face.

Believe me, I understand. JWS can be QUITE persuasive…well worth parting with large sums of money for! :-D

@all you Tamra Islanders: I have finally begun the series-on epi # 3 …kinda slow now…You know I still have images of Park Kyu as the Hyung in BOF. I think my favorite character so far is Beon Jin’s Mom( she acts tough, but she’s so sweet with her husband)….oh, I loooove Beon Jin’s little sis, too( I remember her from Power Opponents). I will see you guys on Fri’s OT, after work (my work shift is every weekend Fri-Sun- this way I can take care of the 2 mini cingdoc’s).

    @ockoala,

“Kin Suh Ah has kissed/acted with collectively the best kissers in k-drama that I have seen ”

Come to think of it, I think she also made most of the best kissers in k-drama her cabana boy. Sam Soon FTW. :D

    OMG Belleza! That’s soooooooooooo funny!

CHAE RIM LOOKS SO CUTE! LIKE A BABY!

I want hair like Won Bin…. sigh.

  36. 236 Samsooki

    Haha…

    0:50
    Ya! Kim Sun Ah!

    0;53
    Oh! Ya! Won Bin!

    0:57
    Yaaaaaaaaaaa!

    1:00
    (to Won Bin)
Oh, so happy to see you!
    Oh, you look so cool!

    1:02
    (chae-rim baby)
    Oh? That’s Sun-Ah unni!

    1:03
Omona, glad to see you! (omo / omona is a phrase of exclamation that cool women use to over-act and express surprise at the same time)

    1:08
    (chae-rim baby)
    Oh… that crazy lady…

    1:10
KSA: Oh, so happy to see you, so glad…! (getting major wonbin hugs in, methinks, a little too many)

    1:13
    (chae-rim baby)
omg, she’s interested in men? (literally, “omg, she’s a woman,” but the meaning is closer to, “she’s hetero…”)

    chae-rim baby flash back….

    1:16
KSA: Ohhhh! that kind of date… I mean… I have no interest in men. None!

    1:21
Now I am done with men! I hate men now! I like you (Chae Rim) way more than men!

    ***

What a way to start a Friday! hehe!

    :)

  37. 237 Samsooki

    oh… wait,

    see, that’s what’s hard about translation…

I think I screwed up the subs. LOL.

    1:13
    (chae-rim baby)
omg, she’s interested in men? (literally, “omg, she’s a woman,” but the meaning is closer to, “she’s hetero…”)

I still think chae-rim is saying, “omg, she’s a woman” BUT, she isn’t referring to KSA, she is referring to WON BIN, meaning, that chae-rim thinks that KSA is a lesbian…

    OK, NOW it makes sense.

    :)
