A.N.JELL’s music is a hit
SBS’s idol drama You’re Beautiful may only be second in its timeslot (after IRIS on KBS), but its soundtrack is a big hit. Now only a week after its release, it has already sold about 20,000 albums; the day it came out, it was a top seller on all the various online sites (Melon, Dosirak, Mnet).
To give you a sense of what that number means, it is unusual for OST albums to sell more than 10,000 units. The drama’s ratings are modest at best, but the strong sales of the soundtrack point to its status as a solid mania hit. The album was written and produced by Han Sung-ho, who also worked on the dramas Lovers, On Air, and Brilliant Legacy.
With the actors all showing musical talent (two are from idol bands and the other two also sing in the series), some are even wondering whether the idol-group-within-the-drama will pursue activities for real; according to a source with the production’s marketing team, “The viewers want A.N.JELL to perform for real and the members are in accord, so they are currently discussing it. At the moment, their schedules are packed tight so it’s difficult to make a decision. When the drama nears its close, they’ll be able to solidify plans for possible activities.”

I personally love the music from the show and would be really pleased if A.N.JELL did perform a concert together =) That would be hella exciting!!!!
wow… the series is addicting. and so is the soundtrack. i’ve been listening to promise, still (AN Jell and hong ki’s versions) and lovely day for days now. i would listen to them for two hours straight hoping that maybe my addiction would lessen somehow but alas, it’s not working. even though i totally don’t understand the lyrics i love it…
I’m not surprised because they all sing really well.
I actually like the idea of them being in a band together but I know two of them, Hongki and YW, are actually already in their own bands. 
I’m glad that even though the ratings for this wonderful series is low, the music is recognized at least. 
I wish we could by it here in Israel ?????

I would never have thought that the same guy who did this album would have done the music for Shining Inheritance! The music in Inheritance was annoyingly overdramatic – but the music in YB is perfect. xD
Here is an example: I don’t listen to K-pop at all. Even with all the hype, except for SS501’s I’m Stupid, I have never even been able to listen to a single K-song to its finish (even Rain’s — even though I adore him).
On the other hand, “I’ll Promise You” is pretty much on non-stop rotation in my home. I love every single one of the songs featured in the series, and I listen to them over and over again. I get shivery with a tight knot in my throat every time JGS’s voice comes on and dewy-eyed with Jeremy’s. Don’t get me started on Shin Woo (and his tight pants).
Thank you so much for posting this story. I had been wondering if I was the only one going this batty over the OST. There is not a single song I don’t love — and because every song brings up memories from the show, I have a happy smile plastered on my face as I listen.
I wish I knew where to buy this OST — legally and with cash monies going back to my hot boys.
I love JGS’s voice!
I wouldn’t really call Jung Yong Hwa’s band an idol group, and Uee’s actually from an idol group and she surprisingly doesn’t contribute to the soundtrack at all, even if she’s not part of A.N.Jell.
If A.N.Jell actually became a group post-airing, let’s just hope it’s very temporary and for promotions sake only.
This album is full of power ballads and power pop. I’ve been playing the album like CRAZY the past week. This is easily my favorite collection of favorite K-OST tunes (i.e. non-instrumental score) since Coffee Prince.
The music is a little like the soundtrack for Shining Inheritance. But what makes it unique is that almost everything are power ballads and power pop.
What great news to the drama production team. I think the ratinig has not done any justice to this drama at all!
Music wise, it is a quite pleasant OST. I love the scenes in the series when A.N.JELL performed together on stage.

Yes!!! I am so excited with this news! This drama deserves this recognition by fans. I agree that its current ratings are nothing to brag about, “modest” is the best word to describe it as javabeans had put it. I have been counting the days until it would be Wednesday and Thursday again.

So far my favorite music in the soundtrack is 말도 없이 (without words) by 9th Street and of course A.N. JELL’s version of the title track 여전히 (Still/As Ever).
I love the episode where the band performed in the Asian Music Festival. JGS totally gave a freakin hot performance!! I was so convinced he is actually an idol pop star!!!

There’s two versions of three songs, so it’s fun listening and comparing. I kinda go back and forth which versions are my favorite. Yong Hwa’s version of Without Words is my favorite right now.
CN Blue is a proper rawk act, and Yong Hwa sings in English. They’re a little bit like Trax, a little bit like the Weather Report.

I’m glad the OST is doing so well! Personally, I love the songs. It’s not JGS’ first time singing, I kinda knew he could hold a tune, but am very surprised @ PSH’s voice. She’s very good for an actress. I love “Lovely Day”.

Good thing that “Promise” isn’t overplayed throughout the drama so far. I remember reading your comment about how the song itself is catchy but might turn out to be annoying like BOF’s “paradise” which was so overplayed and overused..etc.
I like the AN Jell version of “As If” due to JGS and PSH harmonizing together. It’s really nice.
I’d like to see another set of music, but it’s probably unrealistic given their time constraints.
I assume AN Jell will be performing at the SBS Drama Awards. So at least that one. Can’t see them on MBC Music Core or anything like that. Conflict of interest there.

I think it is more plausible for A.N. Jell to sing at the SBS Drama awards, if ever they are performing outside of the drama
i LOVE the soundtrack, at least the songs that i’ve heard from it.
but because the drama uses only around 3 or 4 songs, but different versions of them, the melodies are going to get really old soon. they should switch it up. i’d love to hear more of a.n.jell’s music!

also, i agree with #6 completely. i usually can’t stand listening to k-pop, but still (as ever) by a.n.jell is amazingly addicting.

I think I’d be tempted to fly to Korea if AN Jell has a concert! I was just thinking wistfully that it’s ironic that someone like me who’s never been into bands all my life (okay, except the Beatles… I guess, never been into current bands) has finally found one whose music I enjoy and of course- it’s not a real band!
It makes it all the more precious since I know they’ll at most do it for laughs and promotion of the series- my dream for the concert:
1) They do Still with the usual AN Jell configuration, JGS and PSH duet, PSH keyboard, Hong ki drums and HY guitar
2) They do another version of Still with Hong Ki singing, PSH on the drums, JGS guitar, HY keyboard
3) Promise with HY singing lead, Hong ki on guitar, JGS on drums, PSH on keyboad again
4) Without words with all four of them taking turns singing
Oh yes, and they do an encore which is a parody of an After School dance and have the real After school (including UEE) there doing it side-by-side with them!
(The parody would be way down on my wish list… right now I’m so unenthused about UEE’s character I can’t find it in myself to want to see her on stage with JGS… ha! What an irrational species us serial fans are!

So I just YT’d CN Blue and I didn’t realise they were that Eptee Island-like group debuting in Japan!! And they are GOOD, I could seriously get into a group like that.
You’re Beautiful ratings aren’t great, but that was kinda to be expected. Pretty much everybody’s watching this online.
You might see a ratings spike toward the end of the show. That’s usually a sign of its mania popularity.
This will be a monster Hallyu hit. Easily the best Korean idol drama in the past 2 years.

I really do love the OST for this show, but I don’t know how activities would work after the show is over. I mean, Hong Ki and Young Hwa already have their own groups so wouldn’t it kind of be inconvenient? Still, sounds interesting, so I guess we’ll just wait and see what happens when the drama ends.

i absolutely love the soundtrack and the drama is so much fun =] kinda expected the okay ratings since it is an idol drama and has major competition with IRIS (though i don’t really have much interest in it now but may give it a chance later on in the future). I really love Park Shin Hye’s voice, it’s so sweet =]
I like the OST as well, I’ve been playing it on my drive to school for the past two weeks. I’m actually surprised how well PSH sings and I knew that JGS could sing (I remember liking his Toucholic/Haptic songs for Samsung). To be honest, I like JGS singing “Still” more than Hongki’s and am not sure why….maybe b/c JGS’s voice is deeper? I don’t know…

Yeah, this is going to be a serious Hallyu hit…And it’s going to raise all of their profiles, especially JGS’s. JGS is going to be like the new Lee Junki in terms of the popularity, especially in Japan I think. I mean they both sing, both are very “pretty”, kind of idolish figures, and both are pretty good actors.

I am soo in love with this soundtrack!! Wish they’d perform these live just once. I love their voices and am addicted to the drama too. Even though there are a lot of kdrama cliches, it still manages to be interesting. PSY’s acting is superb too. Not annoying at all. I think she has a lot of potential and hope to see more of her in the future! I am anxiously waiting for wednesday to know what happens next.

I just can’t stop listening it, I love it but Won Bin’s weird song. I wonder about the possibility to release a second OST, however this is great.
I love Lee Hong Ki’s voice, really I love Jeremy’s character, sometimes reminds me of Jiro Wang @ HanaKimi, so sweet.

just started to watch Iris as i was bored..counting the moments to Wed when the YAB show starts again…sheesh – IRIS is so boring n ireally hate flashbacks..they start off w LBH hurt and then moved on to flashback to when he first started his career…sooooo trite n a real put off! YAB is soooooo much better in terms of plot and clever lines….so why is it 2nd in ratings….DONT UNDERSTAND! YAB is no 1…..n the best drama of the year 2009!

I always love Hongki’s voice, his voice is really special.
But … but… in this OST
I prefer JGS voice, his voice is a bit unprofessional but carries deep emotion that make me connect to the drama I think.
It was just the same in movie Doremifasoltido, I also preferred JGS’s voice although his singing voice was not as good as other OST singers .
I’m happy at least they have OST sell well.

Anyway, I think JGS has potential to be a real singer. He just needs more time to practice and more vocal training lessons so he can cover beautifully high notes. Otherwise, his voice is beautiful and sexy .

Yes, never before I’m so obsessed with K-Drama OST but YAB is truly addictive. Not only the drama is funny, their OST is simply the best, all of it. I can’t find one song that I don’t like. Not enough of hearing Park Shin Hye’s version of ‘Without words’. She got great voice and full of potential. I like 9th Street version too.

i love love love the entire soundtrack of You’re Beautiful as much as I love the series. even the classic ones (moonlight sonata, salute d amour) that were played during few scenes are my favorites. everything about this drama is sooooooo beautiful!

It will be awesome if they did become a real group. However, if it means less activities for Hongki with FT Island, I wouldn’t be as happy. I love FT Island and so I don’t want to see them be not as active.

i always knew the YAB ost would be a hot stuff once it’s going to be marketed..
I fell in love with the ost right on the 1st ep during AN JELL perf ‘Promise’..
Then, when Go Mi Nam walks around AN JELL’s dorm (should i say mansion?.. hehe!), ‘Still’ by Hong Ki captures my heart..
In ep 4, ‘Still’ by AN JELL is a superb perf! i like featuring voice of Tae Kyung (TK) n Go Mi Nam (GMN) in that song.. followed with touchy- feely ‘Without Words’ by 9th Street at the end of the ep when TK comforts GMN.. this song perfectly fits the scene!
in ep 8, ‘Cursing Heart’ touches me when Mi Nam looks at TK’s tux .. ‘Lovely Days’ by Park Shin Hye follows when Aunt says someone is coming to pick her up but then the song halts when she sees Shin Woo (SW) instead.. (these songs have been aired in prev eps, but these scenes with these soundtracks left me with great impact!)
Not to be forgotten, ‘Without Words’ by GMN which shows his exploded emotion.. i burst into tears when i watched this scene *Cry* (see Manager Ma, i explode too!)
Then in ep 12, i feel pity for SW when he sang ‘Because I’m Fool’.. with those sweet voice, nice lyric, romantic-guitar-scene makes me switch my love for him.. (i’ve always been TK+GMN supporter,hehe =D).. so sad GMN cannot even realized it..
in ep 13, fan- meeting part – TK plays ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ feat GMN.. i used to hear the instrumental version of this song.. uhuhu, this part is so swit~!.. i replay this multiple times till my laptop feeling dizzy *Tongue out* # in other words, I LOVE YOU~ #
Hong Ki kudos’s part in magical bus when he sang ‘Good Word’ is a tear- jerk scene.. u cannot hold your tears anymore, it will keep flowing like a river.. truthfully, i didnt see this part coming bcoz Jeremy seems to be not case- sensitive due to his joyful charact.. poor Jeremy~
Finally, the ending of ep 14 will make u shed abundant of tears with ‘Goodbye’ sang by TK aka Jang Geun Seok.. the happy moment for them was like seconds then the obstacle put a dot! # do remember the time we love, even if u find someone else who’ll make u laugh, i am grateful bcoz it is YOU that i love…# ahh, so melancolic saddy =’(
‘Down From Heaven’ by Oh Won Bin and Miss S always enlighten the mood.. together with other pop English soundtrack..
‘What Should I Do’ by Mo Hwa Ran like TK said ’so mournful’ but it narrates a great love story..
I do find a drama or movie interesting and favourable when i fall in love with its ost and YAB- u really shouldnt make me feel like a maniac (since my iTunes keep playing their ost 24-7!) o.O
