Executioners screenplay turned into novel
by | October 24, 2009 | 18 Comments

Korea’s first capital-punishment-themed film Executioners [집행자], which stars Yoon Kye-sang and Jo Jae-hyun as prison guards, has also turned its screenplay (lauded as taut and solidly written) into a novel, which was just released on October 23. The publication precedes the film’s release next month, and to commemorate the occasion, the film’s lead actors appeared at a fan-signing event on the 24th.

The novel takes the same title as the film, which will premiere on November 5.

This preview totally made me cry. I’m sorry it’s not subbed, but perhaps the intent comes through anyway, from the woman relative of a victim who asks for the killer not to be executed (“Because if I kill you, I become like you”), to the older prison guard who wonders why they have to kill people in this way, to the way an elderly inmate asks that that guard be the one to kill him (“We’re friends, right?”).

does anybody else have this problem? Whenver videos are posted on websites, I only see a blank space where there’s supposed to be a video and at the top left, there’s a small box with geometric figures in it, I used to be able to watch videos on anywhere, but since a few days ago, i can only watch videos on youtube, or other video hosting sites, not blogs or sites that post videos…it’s really anooying me..pleas helP!

Fudge! I’m torn whether to watch this movie or not, it looks so great but if it’s really great I know I will feel sad watching it. I hate feeling sad even over fictional characters :(

이나영 and 강동원’s “우리들의 행복한 시간” also touched upon the topic of capital punishment.

    This film looks good!
