Han Hyo-joo, who has just come off her SBS hit drama Brilliant Legacy at a career high, has a new project which takes the rather unique format of an “Internet drama.” Called Soul Special [쏘울 스페셜], it co-stars actor Kim Dong-wook (Partner) as her love interest.
(Hm, another web series. And this comes so soon after the other one, SETI, was announced starring Seo Hyo-rim and Kim Kyu-jong.)
Parts 1 and 2 were released this past week, which you can watch below.
Han Hyo-joo plays a free-spirited singer-songwriter, while Kim Dong-wook is a doctor, although you don’t see that in the first clip. Lee Chae-young and singer K.Will also appear as a couple. The drama rather prominently features the Kia (ad money, no doubt), but the series has a very cute vibe.
Here’s Part 1: “One Day, Something Special For You…”
Here, Han Hyo-joo returns to Korea from studying abroad, stumbles across Kim Dong-wook in the airport parking lot, and wonders jokingly, “Are you my welcome-home present?” She gets into the Kia (arranged by her unni) and checks into a hotel (arranged by a friend).
Her last line is: “Will you marry me?”
Next is Part 2: “Solo Woman, Find Loneliness”
The web series is 1 hour long in total, divided into 12 episodes at 5 minutes each. Its first two episodes were released this past week, and will continue to release two episodes per week (every Tuesday and Thursday) online. Afterward, it will be released to cable television and as mobile content.

Lee Chae-young does well as an emcee on Star Golden Bell but here she seems to suffer from the overacting bug.
can’t wait for her to grow her hair long again it’s so much better like that imo! imagine her with that hair style now just longer, so much better than in shining inheritance/brilliant legacy

I liked seeing Han Hyo Joo walking out of that airport with that whole look like “I’m a bad-ass yet happy-go-lucky woman” lol…the whole little clip gives this cute, quirky but happy vibe….
plus, for a non-korean speaker like me, the little dialogue is perfect, I just understand everything without scratching my head cause they barely talk (well the first one atleast, the second one..I’ll needs subs)….

I just don’t get the storyline.
I like it (once you get pass the blatant Kia car commercial). i find it hilarious that she basically kidnaps the guy from the parking lot and nobody questions why she’s wheeling him around. Unless this is a common occurrence that i’m not aware of, I would be very suspicious if i saw this. I can’t wait to see the rest…

She’s been kinda promoted as a “pure girl” since By Land and Sky, but her real impulse is in playing loner, misfit, my-so-called-life types. You see it more when she does movies. In fact, if you’ve seen Ride Away, her character is like an angrier, more confused version of the character she ended up playing in Shining Inheritance.
Glad her hair’s like normal again. Let’s never speak of that cut ever again.

Just finished watching this series. Really cute, mostly because of Kim Dong Wook, but Han Hyo Joo is sooo super pretty as well. Love the music too.
