Oh my gosh, this was one of the worst finales I’ve ever seen. I’ve been leaving room for the drama to upswing at the eleventh hour, but now that it’s over I can say with certainty that this is a gross disappointment. I can’t say it’s the worst last episode EVER (because there are many dramas I have never seen finale episodes for, of course), but certainly one of the most disjointed, nonsensical, pointless finales I’ve actually watched. It’s as bad as Witch Amusement for weirdness — but maybe even worse because at least Witch Amusement‘s finale was amusing to watch.

EPISODE 16 RECAP (FINAL) (thank goodness)

Grandpa Kang comes home from the hospital, and Hae-na devotes herself to caring for him. Life returns to normalcy, as Hae-na admits in a letter that she writes to Dong-chan, “Nothing has changed. Except for you, everything is the same.”

She says she’s doing well and wonders how he is. She writes, “When I miss you, I imagine that you’re with me.” As she goes about her daily business, she imagines that Dong-chan is still around, nagging her and acting as her butler. “I miss you. I can’t help missing you.”

However, she doesn’t actually mail the letter, because the housekeeper later finds it crumpled and discarded.

Dong-chan, meanwhile, is back at the flower shop. Eui-joo gives him the news that the chairman left the hospital. Although he is relieved that this is a sign of improvement, Eui-joo says it’s more that he’s given up on treatment.

The directors all know the end is near, as they hint in a meeting held at the mansion. Hae-na has taken reins of the company temporarily, and counters their insinuations of the chairman’s failing health by saying that he’s well. (They all know the truth, but there’s an usavory eagerness to see him kick the bucket and vacate his spot.)

Tomorrow is Hae-na’s birthday, and Hae-na goes out for a walk along a bamboo-lined trail with her grandfather. As she steps aside to retrieve drinks, Dong-chan arrives. He has been directed here by Woo-sung, who wants to “repay his debt” by bringing him to Hae-na.

The meeting is awkward, and Grandpa’s demeanor stern. Dong-chan says that he didn’t plan this meeting, but now that he’s here, he has something he’d like to say: “Please live a long time. If only for agasshi’s sake, you must live a long time.” (Uh…? I don’t see the point in this dialogue — or this scene — since he ain’t telling Grandpa anything he doesn’t already know.)

He turns to go, just as Hae-na returns with drinks. The shock of seeing each other renders both mute for a prolonged moment, until he bows his head to her and continues on his way.

Hae-na watches him go sadly, until her grandfather calls her back to attention. He doesn’t know how Dong-chan came to be here, and writes this off as “a strange coincidence.”

Later, both indulge in their own pity parties, thinking of each other. Dong-chan rewatches his video clip of Hae-na telling him “I love you,” then wishes her a happy birthday.

In the morning, the staff surprises her with a birthday song and cake. She’s moved to tears.

(Hae-na’s birthday is a random thing that doesn’t serve much of a purpose. I wonder if they decided to shoehorn it in here because Yoon Eun-hye just celebrated her 25th birthday on set last week.)

Eui-joo calls Tae-yoon out to lunch again. She knows he finds her annoying, but she has a reason for this meeting. She sees how sad Dong-chan is, and is convinced that the couple are still pining for each other. Therefore, she thinks it would be a good birthday gift to Hae-na to bring the two back together, and enlists Tae-yoon’s help.

Eui-joo is rather proud of her scheme, and therefore put out when Tae-yoon responds unenthusiastically. She reminds him that they’re partners, and presses her point.

She lays out her plan — all he has to do is call Hae-na out. She’ll take care of getting Dong-chan.

Her suggested meeting point is a tourist ferry that travels along the river. Tae-yoon laughs at her, teasing her for thinking of such a corny activity. Who’d want to do something so lame? Eui-joo answers grumpily that she’s never ridden one before but thinks it would be romantic.

Grandpa asks his butler and housekeeper to keep taking care of Hae-na, as they have done a good job all these years. But the housekeeper speaks up hesitantly to say they’re not the ones Hae-na needs — the person she really needs is Dong-chan. She hands him Hae-na’s discarded letter to prove her point.

(Geez Louise! You’d think Hae-na were a child, the way they are carrying on about her, or at least a minor. She is a 24-year-old ADULT, and a supremely rich one, at that. She’ll be FINE.)

Now here’s where the plot logic starts getting fuzzy for me. I’m not sure if it is as sloppy as it seems or if I’m just missing something. Dong-chan goes to the Han River, where he recalls the last time he’d been here with Hae-na (they’d lit a cake and she’d asked him to stay with her). Hae-na also happens to arrive here and sees Dong-chan sitting along the bank. (I am assuming that she was heading to meet Tae-yoon at the ferry and saw Dong-chan coincidentally.)

When he looks up and they make eye contact, she hurriedly walks away. He catches up to her and they have a short, strained conversation wherein they trade pleasantries. When she gets up to go, Dong-chan grabs her hand and tells her to wait. Presenting her with her birthday coupon, he wants to claim it now: “Spend today with me.”

So they walk holding hands, happily play games at the arcade, feed each other ice cream, and what the heck is going on…? (They’re somber, then giddy, then playful, then somber again? Oh, whatever.)

They catch up on what’s going on in their lives; Hae-na tells Dong-chan that she’s been working hard, and even wrote him letters that she didn’t send. He says he’s been keeping busy and doing okay, although he has missed her too. When he says (lies?) that he hasn’t been struggling too much, she confesses that she has. She lays her head against his shoulder, “Just for a moment.”

All this while, Eui-joo and Tae-yoon wait at the boat for Hae-na and Dong-chan to join them there. At the same time, they both receive text messages, which tell them that the two others will not be meeting them. Realizing that their attempt failed, they try to get off the boat, only to find that it’s already pulling away from the dock. They’re stuck onboard.

Unfortunately, Tae-yoon gets a bad case of motion sickness and rushes to the bathroom to barf. He admits this is his first time on a boat, and feels embarrassed to always show his weaknesses around Eui-joo. She waves it off, saying that it’s not like they’re dating, so there’s no need to keep up appearances.

Grandpa reads Hae-na’s letters, perturbed at the contents since it shows that her love for Dong-chan remains undimmed. The next day, he tells Hae-na that he’s quite happy, and asks if she’s happy too. She answers, “If you’re with me, I’m happy.”

Grandpa says he has a birthday present to give her: “Live the way you want. That’s the best happiness. Whether that’s being the successor, or Seo Dong-chan, seek what you want. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

Hae-na sort of understands, although I would contend that she doesn’t because she doesn’t rush off to reconcile with Dong-chan even though there’s nothing stopping her now.

She heads inside to fetch Grandpa a blanket, and when she returns, he’s asleep. Or so she thinks.

After a moment, Hae-na realizes that Grandpa is dead, and cries.

(The music is exceedingly tragic and the tone jarringly solemn. I literally asked my screen, frustrated, “What the hell kind of drama do you think you are?”)

After the funeral, Dong-chan finds Hae-na in the bamboo forest. She tells him she could feel him around her as she prepared the funeral, and assures him weakly that she’s okay: “But truthfully, I’m scared.” She’s all alone now. “How do I live on my own?”

He comforts her.

Su-min wins a child modeling contest and WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON NOW? (I know this is just to give us a cute montage of Wang Seok-hyun, but it makes no sense. It’s so random and out of context. Eh, whatever.)

Hae-na calls a handful of directors, including Uncle Chul-gu, to the house for a meeting. She has made a decision: “I’m will decline the successor’s position at this time. However, this does not mean I am giving it up.” She’s going to go study abroad, to learn and gain more experience. So she will leave the company in the hands of management experts.

After the directors leave, she asks Chul-gu to keep good watch over the company until she comes back, and not ruin it. He’s surprised, but agrees. I’m surprised, because WTF? He’s been an immoral and ludicrously over-the-top villain all series long, and suddenly he’s competent?

Hae-na extends a hand, and they shake on it.

Next, Hae-na cooks a meal for her servants as she announces, “I’m going to leave tomorrow. I don’t know when I’ll return. But when I come back, I’ll come back as a grown-up, mature Kang Hae-na.”

The servants are stunned and saddened, but also touched at her sincerity in cooking for them. She says that the food is “a bribe to ask you not to leave here and wait for me.”

(Personal aside: Last-minute studying abroad is a cliche I HATE because it makes no sense. You can’t just go overnight to study abroad! What about finding a school and a program and making arrangements? It’s a lame way to get someone on a plane — or under the threat of getting on a plane — and it’s about time dramas either give more thought to it, or figured out a better story to elicit that conflict.)

As she heads to the airport, Hae-na gives Dong-chan a call, but because he’s at work, he misses it. Eui-joo rushes in to tell him that Hae-na is leaving for the States, urging him to find her to say his goodbyes. Dong-chan is tempted to, but decides against the urge. However, when he checks his phone, Hae-na’s voicemail message gives him second thoughts:

Hae-na: “It’s me. I’m calling because I thought I should at least say my goodbyes. I’m about to leave for far away. How happy can I be in a place without you? And how happy can you be here, without me? What is real happiness? Grandfather gave me the freedom to be happy as his last present. The happiness I don’t want to lose is you, but I know how difficult I made things for you by being Kang Hae-na. So I’m going to leave now. When will I be able to return? I don’t know exactly when, but I will definitely return. At that time, if your happiness is still me, and mine is still you, then let’s love again and start over.”

(I AM SO FRUSTRATED.)

Spurred into action by her words, Dong-chan changes his mind and sprints out of the shop, grabs a cab, and heads straight to the airport. Once there, he scours the terminal looking for a sign of Hae-na, who has just arrived and is saying her goodbyes to her butler trio.

Spotting her in the crowd, walking to her gate, Dong-chan heads straight for her, their steps echoing the scene from Episode 1. Now he speaks to her in casual speech, startling her with his assertiveness: “Hey, you! Where do you think you’re going, without my consent?”

Hae-na looks up at him, perplexed, as he insists (oddly, with a pretty unemotional delivery), “Don’t go! I’ve been thinking, and I can’t let you go like this. I don’t think I can be happy in a place without you. So don’t go.”

But maybe the lack of emotion is the whole point of this scene; to play the big reunion without the big drama. Or whatever. Hae-na starts to catch on, and she retorts, “Hey! Do you think I’m the kind of woman who will come and go when you tell me to?”

By now it’s like they’re so relieved to be back together (again) that they revert back to their familiar script of bickering, where they fight but don’t really mean what they’re saying. He taunts her to try to leave, and she taunts back, “You think I won’t?”

Dong-chan blocks her path and says, “I can’t ever let you go. And I won’t let you go in the future.” She looks at him, holding back a smile, and reminds him that this is his cue to carry her out.

So he does, just as he did in Episode 1, and scoops her up over his shoulder. As the crowd watches, he shouts laughingly, “She’s my woman!”

And now for a truly choppy, random epilogue:

Su-min shoots an ad or photo spread of some sort, while his family brags that he’s one of them. The PD practically rolls his eyes at the silly Kangs.

Tae-yoon takes on a case representing Dong-chan’s debt collectors, who are now in jail and blame their misfortune on Seo Dong-chan.

Eui-joo complains that Su-ah has stolen her shoe designs and pleads with Tae-yoon (whom she’s been calling “Mr. Lawyer” all this time) to help her. He turns her down, which upsets her, until he leans toward her flirtatiously and says, “I’ll help you if you call me Tae-yoon.”

The butler trio go on a group blind date… only to find that it’s with the maid trio. All are disappointed.

Butler Mr. Jang and housekeeper Ms. Jo have some flirty vibes going on.

And finally, Hae-na and Dong-chan are fighting once again over some insignificant thing, and Hae-na shuts him up with a kiss. Dong-chan says jokingly, “That has lost its effect,” which prompts her to kiss him repeatedly.

The end. Or whatever.

COMMENTS

What an awful finale. It felt like a school play and I cringed throughout. Honest-to-goodness, I think that everyone — even the writer and director — gave up in this last episode and simply ran out of steam. I am relieved this drama is over. The best thing about this episode was the IRIS trailer at the end of it.

I think the thing that rankles most of us still watching at this point is that this drama should have been better. The scenery, lighting, and wardrobe were all gorgeous. The music was badly overused but not bad on its own merits. The cast was certainly easy on the eyes. And aside from Yoon Eun-hye’s slow start as snooty Hae-na, the acting was never the problem. I think she was the only one actually trying to act in this last episode, actually, and was impressed she could still wring out some tears when we’ve all lost the ability to connect with the story or these people.

Heck, the only reason I stuck with this drama for so long was because there were bits and pieces scattered throughout that hinted at a better drama. I kept hoping that the story would swing back upward and return to its high moments, but instead it kept crawling downward in a steady decline. I feel duped.

I think it would take days to nitpick all the little things that went wrong, so I’ll skip that exercise. But there were some huge threads left hanging, as most of you have already pointed out before, such as Hae-na’s first love. Seriously, what was the point? It would have been more fun to make Hae-na a bitch just for fun, rather than giving her a big emotional backstory and then never addressing it.

Furthermore, her transformation was so excessive that it feels like Hae-na grew a new personality entirely. I wish we’d gotten to see traces of the old Hae-na lingering in the new one, because otherwise it feels like one of those daytime soaps like All My Children where actors leave and new people are brought in to replace them and it’s just treated like it’s normal. What I liked about Fantasy Couple, for instance, is that Anna softened her hard edges and became more sympathetic, but she was the same person at the end that she was at the beginning. It’s like Hae-na started out similar to Anna and then turned into Eun-chan from Coffee Prince.

It speaks well of Moon Chae-won that she had people both liking and disliking her so strongly, because I just realized that Eui-joo is a completely blank character. What do we know about her? What personality traits is she given? What character quirks? All we know is that she speaks her mind and wants to design shoes. What a complete failure of the writer to create a character — but Moon Chae-won somehow made Eui-joo a real person. (Jung Il-woo fell flatter in that regard, because I think he was thinking too hard about analyzing his character instead of just, I dunno, being it.)

I like Yoon Sang-hyun and I thought he did as well with Dong-chan as could be expected. Unfortunately, the Dong-chan dance (butler, not-butler, butler, not-butler) got repetitive about eight episodes ago, after which we were essentially seeing the same story repeating itself over and over again. And that made his storyline, and therefore character, tiresome. His relationship with Hae-na suffered the same lack of imagination with same conflict playing out in episode after episode. It’s sixteen episodes of Groundhog Day. Urgh.

I think we can all agree that the actors deserved better, and that they all have brighter futures ahead of them. Let’s wipe the slate clean and move on, shall we? (If I didn’t leave this drama behind me, I’d be too bummed about the time I spent on it.)

I can't bring myself to watch the last two episodes. I feel like I'll just get mad. I'll watch them eventually, sometime this weekend, hopefully. But I'm going to have to watch a lot of something really good first. It was seriously painful to read these last two recaps. Such a disappointment. I was never super into this show but... come on.

i enjoyed this series!
I was also curious how all it will end. With all the criticisms it has been getting from this blog, I wondered...Will it really be that bad?

The recaps were out faster than the videos. So I read them first before watching the videos with English subtitle...

I really liked the recap you did on Ep 9. But the recaps and your comments of the last few episodes sounded like you were so disappointed and that the series turned out to be bad to worst.

But when I watched the last episodes, "I'm lovin' it" I liked the ending..it gave us a glimpse of what has happened to each character..

No need to have an in-depth analysis of the plot,characters and all...
accept it as it is...Light, fun, sad, a little bit of excitement, a little bit of reality...
For me, it's a Feel-Good series...

ahhhh sooooooooooooooooo sad that MFL END .....NOW I DONT KNOW WARE I CAN FIND SUCH A CUTE AND SWEET COUPLE AS DC AND HEYNA.....EVEN COFFEE PRINCE CANT BIT THE SWEETNESS OF THIS DRAMA....A LOT OF FLOW BUT THIS IS THE ONLY DRAMA THAT I LOVE NO MATTER HOW BAD THE STORY....SEEING THE CAST MAKE ME SMILE AND CONTENT TO WATCH THE WHOLE EPISODE....SO SAD TO JB YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH THE ENDING...BUT THANKS FOR THE RECAP AT LIST YOU GOT YOUR FIRST WORST RECAP OF THE YEAR....IF ONLY YOU FEEL WHAT WE FEEL AFTER YOUR WHOLEHEARTED FEEDBACK WAS WRITTEN IN YOUR BLOG....BUT THEN ANYWAY THIS IS MY LAST POST IN THIS BLOG SO THANKS AGAIN.....MFL FIGHTING!!!

After all are said and done i must say i really admire the composure of JB and the actors of MFL (if they ever read this blog). At least the actors got huge paycheck and possible better projects lined up, but what will JB get? Thanks JB for whatever it is worth to you.

It's nice to interact with insightful and sharp bloggers like Kgrl and of course JB if not for some "line crossing comments here and there (she is human after all she needs to express her frustrations). Otherwise, this has been a good ride for everyone judging from the comments in every episode of MFL. Though I am not sure now where they are coming from- the MFL drama per se; actors performance; bad and unimaginative script; poor directing; or the critical comments of JB)?

YEH fans has JB to thank for not just for the brilliant summary but because her opinion woke us up - we react - SO LIKE IT OR HATE IT. That's our problem not hers.

Let me just say- I kinda both- I like some and I hate some. CIAO everyone! Until next time. . . .

oh so sadddd to JB your not happy with the ending.......buttttttt im so happy with the ending, ,,,,,ahhhhhhh,,,,this well be the funniest ending drama ever that's the reason i still love to watch the mfl the story was so cute,,,,,,,the sweetness was overload eeeeeee seeing the kissssss at the last episode makes me wow wow wow.....rating rating rating dont care....as long as i m happy with the drama, rating and worst STORY cant effect me........I M REPEATING ALL THE EPISODE TODAY AT VIIKII THANKS GOD I FOUND THE SITE THE SUB WAS GREAT......

it actually wasn't that bad... i agree that the drama overall became alittle washed out in the end and it definitely wasn't yoon eun hye's best drama but you all have to give her credit for putting in 100% effort or more even after the harsh criticisms she got. Also, regarding the whole going abroad and U.S scene... i dont think anybody is understanding why the writer put that in... they only put that in so that they could connect and tie back the scene in the first episode when dong chan goes to meet hyena at the airport and carries her yelling "she's my woman." i thought it was so funny and cute that they actually put that in the end and made hyena say " now you're supposed to carry me on your back" and dong chan does and says "NOW she is REALLY my woman". I thought the connection between this scene in the last episode and first was really well tied together. yeah its a cliche used in korean drama' s and a lame way to create some sort of temporary conflict but when you think about even the great drama's use this conflict such as brilliant legacy. However, all the other dramas that used this concept lacked the reasoning and connection of the one in my fair lady. If you really think about it , the writer were trying to show the difference of dong chan and hye na's love while putting in some cute and comic depth to it. i LOVED when dong chan was like "she is REALLY my woman NOW". I really thought that was genius cuz one forgets about the airport scene in the beginning but when you think about it, it was actually a really significant scene and ties in well with the airport scene at the end. its just a really good connection and yes I definitely do agree the scene were choppy and weird and fragmented but i mean i feel like my fair lady tried to do the best they could with what they had and you know it really wasn't a terrible story... and i agree. the actors i thought were GREAT!! maybe its because i'm a fan of yoon eun hye but JB i really truly deeply appreciate your reviews and i always look for your insight cuz I actually think you have great opinions about dramas. so if you like them that makes me like them and happy but i was sad you didn't like my fair lady. cuz i'm a yeh fan i liked it and i hope you continue to do reviews for her future drama's.

I stopped watching this drama after the 6th episode, i just waited for you summary... same w/ triple, stars in love?? and other ones... lol seems like all the dramas these days are the same and very predictable.

Thank you Javabeans for all your MFL recaps. Thank you so much for seeing it through despite your disappointment and dislike for the drama. Really really appreciate all your effort, you should get a Nobel prize for doing all this!

id stop watching this until ep.16 (oh, wait that's the last episode) LMAO. Id just find it entertaining to read some comments stating which episode they had stop watching.
Anyhow, Im a fan of YEH, but that doesnt mean that i would be blind to see how bad this drama is...and i got what JB's and other's pointing out here..Its not about being biased or so.. and there's definitely no problem with the acting part..Its the "DRAMA" itself (on which the storyline/writers are to blame off) that made it skcus..
I for one had been frustrated for the entire series, that i thought of going to SK and hunt the writers and smack their heads myself! (argh!). Anyways, I kinda expecting that the ending wouldnt be that good (that would really have to be a miracle for me if the writers can pull a really good ending) given the 15 out of 16 epis that they made(yeah only ep9 is good)..that's why my frustrations had subside for this last epi.Id just decided to enjoyed and endure it for the sake of seeing yeh but still.. (argh!)
Im just relieved that it was FINALLY OVER and as JB said we and the actors can finally move on...
On the side note, erm, no offense to YSH fans, i also love the guy and the dude can really act but id just got bothered when he was delivering his line and he was "snoring"??? I dunno if you guys noticed that.. anyways..just my observation.

Now that MFL finally wraps up (thank goodness) i hope YEH can squeeze on her schedule to guest on F.O perhaps? that would really erased the trauma id been through watching MFL..( o'weLL my wishful thinking)...

I'm bewildered with the ending. But that's fine. I think the casts have done great, their best for this drama. I've never watched Yoon Eun Hye drama before, never fans of cutesy, dizzy drama. For Lady Castle I must say it's good, I mean she can bring out her character very well. Imagine with such a difficult storyline, I don't think anyone can be a better Kang Hye Na than YEH. The same goes for Yoon Sang Hyun, Jung Il Woo, and Moon Chae Won, they have done well till the end portraying their characters. Looking forward for their next collaboration with much better storyline!

Pffft hahaha, glad I dropped this drama like around ep5 because it seemed too predictable to me. And guess I was right. Totally wasted really good actors for bad storyline. Ahh, can't wait for your review of You're Beautiful and IRIS though.

@175: I'm a big proponent of people forming their own opinions and not take things at face value. However, to many, JB is a knowledgeable and "seasoned" patron of K ent, and she's proven to be able to make distinctions between objective and subjective views. Like a doctor, lawyer, car mechanic, etc. who doesn't necessary specialize in a problem you have - but you still consult them for their opinion. Why? Because ppl trust their doctors, their teachers, their lawyers, their whatever in their professionalism, experience, and way of doing things.

Does that mean I always agree? No. Does that mean I can see where JB's coming from? Yes. Because she tends to make valid points and has reasonable support for her views.

That said, for those who don't like the "crowd" here - you can consort with ppl elsewhere that share your views. I personally find this site to be a congregation of many enlightened, mature, and insightful ppl. Something I find rare given the usual fanaticism/extremism surrounding K ent online. I don't get why if it's not "I love it" - it's "I hate it." The real world definitely doesn't benefit ppl who can not listen or respect others.

@all of you who feel that those who felt that JB was unnecessary harsh, biased, maybe even mean-spirited should go elsewhere: Okay. I can tell you that I found the whole MFL experience here unpleasant enough I am probably not going to read JB's recaps for shows I am currently watching or at least currently watching and enjoying.

That's my solution. But is it a solution for the larger community?

I see some of your point that people who disagree with JB should go elsewhere, and many will, I am sure. But that is a sad way to deal with this issue. It would have been much more productive, I think, if we took criticisms from both sides as being valid. Maybe JB could be more aware of her biases and instincts, especially since she is writing to a wider audience. She is not doing recaps for her benefit -- she already understands Korean. She is doing this as a gesture to an audience beyond herself. And in an instance like this, maybe a little bit more sensitivity to her audience is not a bad thing.

Recaps are different from reviews, by the way.

Maybe she could make her recaps less...biased and and then can offer a review section for her bashing or adoration. That way, we could all benefit from her wonderful service as a recapper, but could choose not to engage with her review..

What irks me the most is how this thread is nothing more than JB-fan girls, most of whom never watched the show beyond a few episodes, fangirling in typical fan girl fashion. And they are the same ones who characterize others of blind YEH worshipping. Ah, irony.

I love JB. She does great service to us all, and I am grateful to her for all that she does. And I hope that she won't dismiss some of the valid criticism being thrown her way.

I post this with some trepidation, and I fully expect the JB-fan girsl to eviscerate me. My appeal though is directly to JB. You give us a lot, and I am not trying to come across as ungrateful. I just don't think telling us to go elsewhere if we don't like it here is fair. I am sure that many want to stay and that many want to have fun with you. With you.

I find it ironic that you use the same dismissive attitude of the "JB fangirls" that you accuse them of making to "YEH fangirls." If we use the same logic on your comments, then we should dismiss you too because you lump all the people defending JB into some lame "fangirl" category.

I think it's presumptuous and rude to tell a blog owner how do do something she does of her free will. You're right that she's writing to a wider audience, but are you her boss? Does she owe you something? I'm annoyed at the complaint that her recaps are only to get pageviews because I've tried to write a recap before and it's damn hard work, I wouldn't do it for a thousand pageviews. It's too much effort only to get a lot of whiny complaints from people who think that because JB has done this for a long time that now they get to demand certain things. Like the person (not you 178) who complained that this wasn't as "witty" as other recaps. So now JB has to be fast AND completely unbiased AND thorough (oh no she left out this tiny scene! how dare she!) AND witty?

Sheesh. People really forget (or don't care) that what takes twenty minutes to read took hours and hours to write. This isn't your home and you don't make the rules. I agree that it would be nice for JB to take constructive criticism too, but remember who is doing what for who here.

I have seen every episode of My Fair Lady. I don't agree with everything JB (or other commenters) have thought, but I don't think it's my place to tell JB to change her style. Why? There is a part of me that is waiting for the tourists to leave so we can go back to our usual discussions but some of the comments have been priceless and I do thank JB's forebearance so I can enjoy morsels like these.

Girls! let's respect one another. Why can't we express ourselves without kicking someone else? We can agree to disagree but in a civil way. I did mention like or hate but I did not mean it in the literal way- it is just an expression of extreme reactions from all sides of the bloggers here. JB definitely is entitled to her opinions as we are. I'm sure she wouldn't want a wishy washy reaction from her comments that's why she is enduring all of the rantings. But let's not forget, we are all together in seeking improvement in the production system be it a drama; a movie; or a sitcom; and quality shows so we will all watch and thus generate high ratings, hence all these brouhaha!. We are not fighting or should be fighting among ourselves. Cool It people. . . Let's stick to constructive criticism where all can benefit.

Saying JB doesn't like YEH and thus criticizes her isn't right. JB recapped Coffee Bean and liked it very much. I think she's fair with her opinions - her opinions might differ with others but I don't thinks she's biased and she meant to offend anyone.

Woah. Why are there so many arguments about a silly thing of having different views of another?
Accept and respect the opinions of others.

When a person states something that does not agree with yours, and then you start picking up your pitchforks as if a serious insult was committed over a small thing: that isn’t accepting and respecting, and certainly not cool.

There have been times I have not agreed with her comments, but that’s exactly it. It’s HER opinion in HER blog that is in HER site where she writes H.E.R review. I realize that and respect that. Rather than saying, “OMG JB, I can’t believe you think that way.” I contribute to the discussion by saying what I thought about the matter – which can be done in a way without getting upset at others because they just don’t happen to agree with me.

If some of you guys did not agree, don’t get so upset. The comment section is obviously a section for commenting your views, where you are free to express how you felt about the episode.
But people please, don’t attack the views of another.
If some of you people cannot accept and respect the way things are working here, you are welcomed to leave. If you want to stay, fine. Quoting BO, “Let’s stick to constructive criticism where all can benefit.”

I watched this drama on and off at KBSW. I'm so not into it. I don't know why. So to fill the gap. I read the recaps here. It's better read here then at Soompi ex with all the fangirling.

Readers here are more mature and give constructive view. I like it that way. Most of them here have watched many K-dramas so that they can give their view. Not that like some fans that watched drama just because their favorite actor/actress acting in it. Try to watch others drama too so that you can understand more.

Let's wait until drama awards. I bet that if their favorite don't win some awards they will get mad.

Sheesh... there're more drama on this board in the last 8 hurs than all 16 episodes of MFL combined :P

Chill girls, it is only a show, there will be plenty others! Anyways, looks like the script writer had a serious sit down talk with YEH according to some sources from the DC wrapped up party. Apparently there's a few tears shed by YEH who does most of the listening. I suppose she is only too aware of the lack of quality writing, and the script writer felt had to explain herself or apologize for what ever reason.

It is good, hope this is a good experience for her. It is not a complete failure (some people obviously loved it like marmite, while others hated, or learn to get used to it.) Hopefully this proved to be a valuabe lesson learnt. Tthere are obviously loads of things we are unaware of behind the production which resulted n the show's deterioation in the last 6 episodes.

@Nom_Kitteh: I respect your opinion, though I do not think it's JB's role/duty/desire to cater to a greater audience, nor pay homage to sensitivities of her current readership. Afterall, she doesn't take donations, nor seem to generate other real benefits, just the goodwill she's established. Does it matter if she loses a couple hundred readers after a "bad" review of MFL? Nah, I don't think that's a worry for her.

It's a valid criticism that ppl shouldn't just read JB's opinions and think it's like gospel, esp. when they haven't experienced it themselves. But that isn't JB's issue, that's the ppl who-can't-form-their-own-opinions problem. And I think you're underestimating many ppl's intelligence here (this isn't Soompi). It's not "fangirling" JB, rather we have similar standards and critical processes. I form my own opinion when I watch K ent, and depending on my curiosity, I visit JB's site to read her recaps/opinions, and what other ppl think (skipping the fanatics). What can I do if many of my opinions are similar to JB's or other commenters here? Does that mean I'm fangirling when I happen to agree? lols...How do I prove my legitimacy as an independent thinker?

@trekkscmu: Oh, I've been so intrigued with TY and EJ's relationship since day 1, especially in comparison to the lack of originality and transition with Hye-Chan's courtship. You know, instead of fighting about what should or what should not been written in this blog, I think we should pay more attention to what is been underlying in this matter all along, which is a possibility of a fraud case. If this information is credible that all of MFL actors being duped to sign a contract which then been broken by the one who hire them (Prod Co. who change the real storyline/script without the actors agreement) this matter alone can be categorized as a contract breach IMO. Seriously, so far there’s never been a talk or article about this matter. So far the news always stating about a prod. co. or the channel stations sued the actor for breaking their contract, but never about the reversal. I think this tendency just show us that despite of all the benefit the actors can get they still weak in front of the law.
How far an actor can demand a script changing if there’s a possibility that the storyline will go out of context, or how far an actor can give a suggestion for their character development. It’s never been included in the contract. I think it’s time for the actors to be more active in term of their involvement in a project, and for them to have a solid stand in front of the law. So MFL case and the famous LDH’s East of Eden case won’t be happen again. How about that JB…?

Dang, everyone calm down!!

Yes, I'm one of those people who bailed early on this drama, but I'm glad because I wouldn't freaking waste 16-5 = 11 hours of my life to watch something only to end up absolutely disappointed ... I already did that for Goong. I'm not a big fangirl of Yoon Eun Hye, but I did love the role she had for Coffee Prince. But I guess was expecting more from her now that the Goong nightmare is out of the picture ... yet I couldn't even reach halfway of MFL. I didn't base it on JB's opinions, but my own enjoyment factor from watching ep1-5 which was a total 0 ... ok being lenient will be 5/10 for good acting, but the storyline bored me.

I usually come to JB after watching the show and reading her and others opinions. While I love reading JB's blog, I also don't always agree with her. Especially when it comes to watching historical dramas that JB hates without first watching it. I at least watch 4 episodes to develop an opinion while she watches none and criticizes that she finds them boring. Then again, it is HER BLOG, let her rant on WHATEVER SHE WANTS.

AHHAHAHAHA javabeans! reading your recap really cracked me up LOLLLL i cant help but say that your opinion is just sooo negative... hahhaha i know i know i actually truly respect the fact that this is just your personal opinion about the drama. i am just gonna say that even though i sort of agree that the last 2 episodes were too rushy and choppy, i think that the overall drama was not bad at all. (at least not until the point that i was very thankful when the drama has ended - you are too much, my friend :P) i admit that this drama has too many loopholes, but yeah all dramas must have ones and at the end of the day what really matters is whether you enjoy watching it, right? no? i personally think that it was very fun watching my fair lady. i bet a lot of people feel the same way too - we can see this from the ratings and its popularity. well, my point is, i just wanna say that there are still a lot of people out there who think that this drama is awesome ^_______^ for those of you who haven't had the chance to watch, give it a shot! the actors/actresses are all great - they acted really well. YSH-YEH's chemistry was superb! i was one of those people who really had fun watching and anticipating this drama every week... maybe you could be one of us later on :DDDD

oooh btw i am not YEH/YSH/JIW fans or anything (as some of you said that the only people who were rooting for this drama are YEH fans LOL) i started liking YSH-YEH because i watched this drama ^______^ for me despite all of the flaws, this drama is very entertaining... heehheh
