Tablo and Kang Hye-jung tie the knot
Ever since quirky actress Kang Hye-jung (Herb) and Epik High rapper Tablo announced their relationship earlier this year, they’ve been very open with their affection for each other, and announced last month that they were expecting their first child. The couple had been intending on marrying next year, but the news spurred them to push... More »

Sons of Sol Pharmacy: Episodes 26-28
Recaps are back! Sorry for the wait, but you know how these things go. The show recently wrapped and claimed the slot as highest-rated drama of the year, but as far as recaps go I think we’re just starting to head into deeper plot territory with these episodes, now that we’ve got one brother (Sun-pung)... A.N.JELL’s music is a hit
SBS’s idol drama You’re Beautiful may only be second in its timeslot (after IRIS on KBS), but its soundtrack is a big hit. Now only a week after its release, it has already sold about 20,000 albums; the day it came out, it was a top seller on all the various online sites (Melon, Dosirak,... More »

Korea’s first capital-punishment-themed film Executioners [집행자], which stars Yoon Kye-sang and Jo Jae-hyun as prison guards, has also turned its screenplay (lauded as taut and solidly written) into a novel, which was just released on October 23. The publication precedes the film’s release next month, and to commemorate the occasion, the film’s lead actors appeared... More »

Tamra the Island: Episode 4
Hello! I’m Gallivanter, the other half of the Nazreal-Gallivanter team. I’m so happy to be given this opportunity to spread the love on my favorite drama from this summer. But, if I’m going to be retrospective, I don’t know that yet. Episode four starts to get a little more serious. Not a lot, but some... More »

Iris bed scene too hot for broadcast television
If you’re following KBS’s spy drama Iris, you’ll know that the romance between main characters played by Lee Byung-heon and Kim Tae-hee, who are fellow spies for the NSS, has been heating up. In particular, this week’s Episode 3 featured a love scene between them, and with spoilers teasing the big moment ahead of time,... More »

Smile: Episode 6
This episode is not so much a series of small lol’s as a crescendo towards one, raucous, side-splittingly hilarious scene (Thank you, Lee Chun-hee!!). In my opinion, it’s the funniest scene in this series so far. Overall, the snappy pace and light fun of this series are getting a bit bogged down, but we do... More »

Open Thread #106
My new cat Maeby! Too bad she didn’t come with a sister I could name Surely. Her new favorite game is Catch the Red Laser Dot. My new favorite game is Direct the Laser Dot Back and Forth on the Hardwood Floors so the Cat Slides All Over it Like a Feather Duster on Speed.... More »

You’re Beautiful: Episode 6
Things just keep getting better. I really love both Shin-woo AND Tae-kyung in this episode. I mean, really. REALLY! (SO sweet.) What’s best is that neither is bad guy, and neither is Mi-nyeo a bad girl. Nobody’s at fault here — it’s the circumstances that have caused this dramatic tangle. Sometimes drama plots feel like... Kim Dong-wook shows off his singing skills
Remember the “music drama” Soul Special, featuring Han Hyo-joo (Brilliant Legacy) and Kim Dong-wook (Partner)? Kim Dong-wook has participated on the soundtrack, which also features artists like Rumble Fish and K.Will, and Kim’s track (“나에게 그대는”) was released online this week to such great response that within the first day of the release, the website...
