You’re Beautiful: Episode 6

Things just keep getting better.

I really love both Shin-woo AND Tae-kyung in this episode. I mean, really. REALLY! (SO sweet.)

What’s best is that neither is bad guy, and neither is Mi-nyeo a bad girl. Nobody’s at fault here — it’s the circumstances that have caused this dramatic tangle. Sometimes drama plots feel like a bunch of strings jerking puppets around to act a certain way that feels forced or untrue. As in, “Time for some jealousy. Now some tragedy. Go, emote!” I love when, in contrast, a drama’s angst comes from a well-plotted conflict that’s organic to its story and world.

EPISODE 6 RECAP

After Mi-nyeo passes out, she spends the night awkwardly sprawled on top of Tae-kyung. In the morning, Hoon-yi walks in and is scandalized to see the two lying in bed together.

He finds the taser, and tries to work out possible explanations for this tableau. His overactive imagination fantasizes in the style of old movies (replete with lips moving off-time to the dialogue — with Hoon-yi voicing both “parts” of this re-enactment), and he first thinks Tae-kyung must have been the culprit.

Hoon-yi imagines that Mi-nyeo had felt threatened by Tae-kyung’s advances, and tased him (bro). After he’d fallen back, she had swooned due to this assault on her delicate feminine sensibilities.

But that doesn’t make sense — she wouldn’t still be around if she tased him. Then… was it Mi-nyeo who…?

In his second scenario, he imagines that Mi-nyeo had made the moves on a nervous Tae-kyung, and tased him to keep him from running away. LOL.

Too bad neither realizes that they spent the whole night sleeping together (snerk), because Mi-nyeo falls out of bed groggily. AUnt Mi-ja finds her sitting by the bed still half-asleep and tells her to come down for breakfast.

To prod a sleepy Tae-kyung out of bed, Mi-ja slaps his ass. THAT certainly gets him awake.

It’s a gesture that increases in shock value the second time around: Tae-kyung comes down to breakfast and starts to outline his guidelines to the chattering aunt. However, he barely starts to instruct her not to touch him when she again grabs his butt affectionately. He’s shocked into speechlessness, and tries to walk away with his dignity intact. (The others know better than to comment while his pride is wounded and put their heads down hastily.)

Hoon-yi is relieved when Mi-nyeo tells him the truth of the taser incident. At least there was no impropriety going on. She’s feeling a little weak and shocked (electrically), so he advises her to drink a lot of water.

Shin-woo is in a better mood today and asks how Mi-nam fared, wondering how her first night rooming with Tae-kyung went. He interprets her honest answer that she fainted as a figure of speech to mean she slept soundly. She answers, “I did make a little mistake, but hyungnim [Tae-kyung] didn’t find out so it was fine. Aside from that, I’m fine.”

This is actually a good sign to Shin-woo, who thinks that if she was so comfortable around Tae-kyung, maybe he doesn’t have to worry (because it implies she didn’t really think of Tae-kyung as a man). He’s also encouraged when Mi-nyeo asks if he’s feeling better about being stood up, because she’d felt bad for him.

Shin-woo: “I did feel upset because she was with another guy, but it seems she doesn’t think of him as a man, so that’s good.”
Mi-nyeo: “That girl will definitely like a cool guy like you.”
Shin-woo: “I’m trusting in those words. You can’t forget what you just said, or cancel them. Promise.”

Smiling, he holds out his finger for a pinky-swear. Mi-nyeo worries that linking pinkies will give him an electrical shock from the taser, but she’s fine. She puts a hand to her heart and comments, “I don’t feel a thing.” It’s a statement that could be misinterpreted, but Shin-woo doesn’t make too much of it.

She runs into Tae-kyung in the kitchen, who notes how close she is with Shin-woo and suggests that she should’ve roomed with Shin-woo instead. Mi-nyeo answers, “But Shin-woo hyung is a guy! Oh, wait… You are too.” He replies drily, “And so are you.”

Although his initial response to Mi-nyeo’s closeness with Shin-woo wasn’t jealousy, now Tae-kyung is annoyed that his gender registered as an afterthought to her. He also wonders why he slept so soundly, but figures it’s just because he walked so much the day before.

Spurred by her interest in Tae-kyung, Yoo Heyi arrives at the A.N. offices to see Sung-chan, using as a pretext some tickets for the VIP screening of her upcoming movie. She gives him the passes as a request to bring some of his stars to her film, and he’s pleased to take them.

We know that she’s really here to see Tae-kyung, and she wrings an invitation from the stylist to drop in on Tae-kyung, who’s at the studio.

He’s at work composing the song “Without words” (on the soundtrack), thoroughly engrossed, as the two ladies watch in admiration. His expression sours when he looks up to see Heyi watching, and she tries to enter the studio, only to find the door locked. He ignores her (hehe) and continues working, so an impatient Heyi writes a note to insist he open the door immediately.

He declines to oblige. More annoyed, Heyi scribbles a second note: “I came to find out who that girl is.” Tae-kyung smirks: “You won’t be able to.” A third note follows: “I’m not going to let this go!”

That gets his attention, and he comes up to the window to face her. She thinks she’s won… but he reads her note — she’s misspelled it! HAHA. (It’s the equivalent of writing, “I’m not gona lett this go!”

He takes out a pen and marks up the window (backwards, so she can read it) with the correct spelling. Frustrated, Heyi starts to throw a tantrum, so he adds underneath it: “CCTV” (security cameras) and an arrow pointing up. At the camera mounted on the ceiling.

Heyi leaves in a snit, while he wonders why she came all this way.

Not about to concede, Heyi next finds Mi-nam (who’s at the dance studio with the other guys) and professes herself to be a fan. She asks for a photo together, then comments, “You don’t seem like a guy.” This is done purposely to unsettle her, and it does just that, but Heyi adds innocently that she only meant it because Mi-nam shrank back when she linked arms.

Hoon-yi takes Heyi’s interest as a positive sign — if Korea’s Fairy is a fan, then Mi-nam is a success. Mi-nyeo says (completely without irony), “I had no idea I was so appealing as a man.”

Hoon-yi muses, “Hwang Tae-kyung likes Yoo Heyi and Yoo Heyi likes Go Mi-nam — that means you’ve beat Tae-kyung.” Mi-nyeo asks, “Hwang Tae-kyung likes her?” Hoon-yi heard from Sung-chan that there’s something between the couple, so Mi-nyeo looks at the pin in Heyi’s hair and says sadly, “She’s really pretty. So Hwang Tae-kyung likes pretty girls like her.”

And then she holds a hand to her chest, because it’s started to act up again. Of course, she’s so inexperienced with romantic emotions that she supposes this is a lingering effect of her electric shock.

While Mi-nyeo is feeling envious of Heyi, she has no idea that Heyi is also feeling envious of her, albeit with a nastier undercurrent. Heyi sees Sung-chan taking the A.N.JELL guys out to eat, and says jealously that Mi-nam is acting like a boy but getting treated like a princess. If Mi-nam is revealed as a girl, she’ll lose it all. Heyi asks herself, “How shall I drop the bomb?”

At lunch, Mi-nyeo overhears Sung-chan asking Tae-kyung when he’s going to break the news about Heyi. Tae-kyung says nothing’s going on, and tells Sung-chan he’s not interested in working with Mo Hwa-ran. Sung-chan accepts that.

Mi-nyeo feels depressed at all this talk of Heyi, and Jeremy notices that she isn’t eating. He’s still uncomfortable around her, but against his own judgment he hands over his plate and says, “Don’t be sick.”

She asks, “Jeremy, guys naturally like pretty girls, right? You do too, right?” Thinking of his own fixation on Mi-nam, he protests (too much), “Of course! Since I’m a guy, I only like really beautiful women! Only women with really beautiful faces and bodies! Isn’t that obvious? Do you think I’d like a guy like you?”

So fixated are they on their respective woes that it doesn’t even occur to them that they’re having two entirely different conversations.

The nosy Reporter Kim loiters outside A.N. Entertainment, asking fans if they’d seen Heyi with Tae-kyung when she dropped by earlier. Sayuri interrupts, instructing the fans not to talk to him: “You’re a reporter, right? We make sure to protect our oppas’ privacy.”

The girls sigh over photos taken at the festival, and the reporter sidles over to steal a look. Spotting a shot of Mi-nam in the lobby (with her face hidden), the reporter starts to realize that perhaps there was another woman involved. He steals the photo and runs off shouting, “It was a different woman! Who is she?”

At lunch, Sung-chan announces that Mi-nam is going to kick off the group’s new round of activities. Before A.N.JELL releases its sixth album, they’ll drum up interest by putting out a single album for Mi-nam, featuring a perfect song — one of Tae-kyung’s compositions.

This certainly makes Mi-nyeo’s charade tougher, so she and Hoon-yi beg Tae-kyung to help them get out of it. She can’t handle the scrutiny of solo activities. Hoon-yi promises that the real Mi-nam will return before the sixth album goes out, so he begs Tae-kyung to prevent this until then.

Tae-kyung is, typically, unsympathetic. He tells Mi-nyeo that if she can sing his song, she can stay: “If you can’t, go.”

Mi-nyeo finds solo work daunting — she’ll have to appear on live broadcasts and perform frequently. Shin-woo asks if she’s nervous and assures her not to worry; they’ll be supporting her. He’ll always be rooting for her.

Hoon-yi begs Tae-kyung again to help out by singing his own song rather than assigning it to Mi-nam. Tae-kyung shakes off the manager and heads out in annoyance, but he stops sharply when Hoon-yi receives a text message. It’s Mi-nyeo, telling him that she’s sorry she didn’t inform him ahead of time, but she has left to find Mother Superior. Hoon-yi freaks out — how could she leave so abruptly? He tells Tae-kyung, “Go Mi-nam has gone. Happy?”

Tae-kyung is upset: “Go Mi-nam left like that?” He peels out in his car and drives aggressively, contemplating the situation. We know the exact moment he makes his decision, because it’s time for the quintessential reckless U-turn! (Just once, I’d like to see this scenario play out with an immediate car crash, you know what I mean?)

Tae-kyung calls Mi-nyeo to ask where she is, then orders her to stay put. When he screeches to a halt at the bus stop, he registers her girl clothing and demands, “You’re leaving just like this?” (Just check out that intense glare on his face!)

At her affirmation, he launches into a tirade: “How can you go without saying anything? Are you leaving me to explain things to everyone? What about your aunt? You have to tell people and wrap things up before you go! Do you think you can just cover up things and leave like that? Do you think I’d let you go like this?”

He orders her into the car. Mi-nyeo asks, “Then… are you giving me a ride?”

Tae-kyung’s expression immediately wrinkles — huh? Mi-nyeo clarifies — Mother Superior is visiting Seoul. She’s going for a visit. LOL.

Eyeing her feminine outfit, Tae-kyung says, “It’s like I’m meeting you for the first time. For some reason I feel like I have to use polite speech [joendaemal] with you.” He calls her Miss Go Mi-nam, so she corrects him, saying her name is Go Mi-nyeo.

Tae-kyung, teasing: “Then did Miss Mi-nyeo cut her hair to become Mr. Mi-nam?”
Mi-nyeo: “Yes. But when I became a male, I ended up a stylish man.”
Tae-kyung: “Still, you must have been sad to cut your hair. After all, you’re a girl.”
Mi-nyeo: “Even though my hair is short, I am a girl.”
Tae-kyung, clearing his throat and taking a moment to respond: “But the Go Mi-nam I know is still a guy.”
Mi-nyeo: “But now that my hair is long and I’m wearing a pin in it, even if I am not beautiful, do I not resemble a girl?”
Tae-kyung, skeptical: “Are you insisting that you look like a girl wearing a pin in fake hair?”

She’s disappointed at his response, and pulls the pin out of her hair, self-conscious for trying something that he thinks looks so unflattering on her. She’s dismayed when the cheap pin breaks, and Tae-kyung feels a tiny twinge at dismissing her so readily.

When he drops her off at the church, he tells her he’ll take her back home, so she asks for two hours to meet with the nun. As she goes, Tae-kyung takes out the broken pin and looks at it: “I didn’t even break it, but now I feel bad.”

Mi-nyeo can’t confide her troubles in the nun, but asks for comfort.

Tae-kyung drives around to kill the two hours, and pulls up to a street vendor and asks for a girl’s hairpin. He has no money aside from large bills, so he essentially gives her $100 for a $3 pin, and says, “This is a $100 pin.”

When Heyi calls, an irritated Tae-kyung hangs up on her because he won’t put up with her games. So when she calls back, she hurriedly blurts before he hangs up again, “That woman! There’s another photo of that woman. One of my staff members took a picture of you running with her.”

To prevent her from going directly to the media, Tae-kyung reluctantly meets with her at a park, where she plays coy and tries to get him to talk about the girl. Is she from his agency? A star, a staffer?

He asks if she’s playing around with him, and she laughs, “Did you just figure that out now? There is no photo.”

When he asks where she parked her car, she taunts, “So you can bash it in? It’s over there, far away.” But to the contrary, Tae-kyung smirks, then grabs one of her shoes — and throws it into the water. HA!

She throws the other one at him in anger, so he kicks it in the water, too. (Double HA!)

Now he’s running late to pick up Mi-nyeo. He calls to let her know, and she tells him she’ll be fine waiting in front of the church.

Fuming, Heyi is ready to call reporters to blab about Mi-nam being a girl — which is when she gets hit in the head with a basketball. (Triple HA!) The guys realize who it is and start snapping photos excitedly.

Heyi is disheveled, upset, and bloody-nosed. Distraught, she asks them not to take pictures, but naturally they ignore her and crowd around her like a frenzied mob. She starts to cry, when suddenly, someone steps in to help.

It’s Tae-kyung! He puts his jacket around her and leads her away. As she waits for her manager to pick her up, she moans in embarrassment, “I’ll have to retire.” He scoffs, “Isn’t it more embarrassing if that’s the last photo of you before you retire?”

Heyi wonders why he helped when it would be bound to raise a scandal. He answers, “Because I know what it’s like to have unwanted pictures taken.”

Tae-kyung anxiously checks the time, thinking of Mi-nyeo, and tells Heyi it’s time to go. She whines that he has to wait with her till her manager arrives, since he threw her shoes away.

The pictures hit the internet immediately, and soon the agency is besieged with phone calls. The management team denies the rumors, and in yet more poking fun at real life, Hoon-yi yells at his phone that “They’re just oppa-dongsaeng! Oppa-dongsaeng!” (This is a common excuse given to refute dating claims.)

Shin-woo is disturbed because he thought Tae-kyung was with Mi-nyeo. If he’s with Heyi instead, what happened to Mi-nyeo?

When Tae-kyung’s phone rings while he’s out of the car, Heyi sees that it’s Mi-nam, and answers. She says, “Oppa can’t come right now. Don’t wait.”

Mi-nyeo’s heart troubles her some more at this news, and she figures she shouldn’t wait for him anymore. She can’t go home dressed as a girl and her things are in Tae-kyung’s car, so she’ll have to buy clothes to change into.

As she wanders Seoul’s Myungdong shopping district, she receives a call from Shin-woo, who offers to pick her up. She politely refuses, assuring him that she’s fine, not knowing that he’s already nearby. (He knew the church was near Myungdong.)

He suggests that she should eat noodles since she’s here, planting the idea and then finding her at the restaurant. He lets her enjoy her meal alone undisturbed, then calls again and leads her to an ice cream shop. He gets the waitress to deliver an extra dessert to her, under the excuse that it’s a free treat, and she enjoys it.

When Mi-nyeo asks for a recommendation for a cheap clothing store, he leads her to a boutique where her purchases are sold dirt-cheap in a “special huge sale.” She’s oblivious of the fact that Shin-woo pays for the difference after she leaves.

As far as pseudo-dates go, this one is adorable. And now for the big finish: Shin-woo tells her that he has a surprise for her, and instructs her to turn around. This is the moment of truth!

He sees her heading toward him, looking around in the crowd, and waits expectantly…

…but her phone rings and it’s Tae-kyung. He’s at the church to take her home. Happily, she rushes away, forgetting about Shin-woo’s surprise. Sadly, he watches her go, saying, “You were almost here. You should have taken just one step more…”

Mi-nyeo is happy to see Tae-kyung and heads to the car to change into her Mi-nam garb.

However, he stops her to ask, meaningfully, “How about just going like that?” What if she reveals the charade and explains everything to Sung-chan? He says, “I’ll help you.”

We can guess the feelings driving Tae-kyung’s desire to end this act, but I think Mi-nyeo feels it as a rejection of her. (This is my interpretation, but since she has no reason to think he likes her, ending the act means getting rid of her.)

Mi-nyeo asks why he accepted her as a group member at the start. He answers, “I liked your voice. Like President Ahn said, it was the voice I was looking for, that best fit the new song.”

She asks him to entrust her with the song, since the voice wasn’t fake, and promises to work hard.

Back to boy Mi-nam it is. As they drive home, Tae-kyung asks if she found “something” in her bag while taking out her clothes, and she finds the hairpin. He starts to explain, but she asks, “Is it Yoo Heyi’s?” Heyi’s name annoys him, but Mi-nyeo says that she knows they were together earlier; Heyi had answered his phone. He’s angry at that, but turns back to the important point: “It’s not hers. It’s yours!”

His bravado-coated-uncertainty is adorable. I love the little sideways glances he shoots at her. He explains, “You looked so crushed that the tacky pin broke, so I bought it while I was killing time.” She’s touched, and he feels proud of himself. Until he wonders, “Why are you just looking at it?” (Meaning: Aren’t you going to wear it?) Obviously she can’t wear it dressed as a boy, so she promises to wear it later when she’s back to being a girl and her hair has grown longer.

He reminds her, “Once you’re back to being a girl, aren’t you going away?” Deflating, she answers, “As a girl, I won’t have any reason to see you, will I?”

Meanwhile, Heyi now feels conflicted: “If I mess with [Mi-nam], Tae-kyung will be hurt too.” Her interest in him has shot up after he swooped in to rescue her, so she decides to let things go this once. But she also sees an opportunity to get what she wants, and heads for the A.N. office — knowing that reporters are swarming — to return Tae-kyung’s jacket.

Of course, her appearance causes a major paparazzi stir. She makes it sound like there’s something serious going on as she tells Sung-chan that she will tell him the truth when “Oppa” (Tae-kyung) gets here.

Tae-kyung and Mi-nam therefore head for the agency (using the back door!) where Tae-kyung faces Heyi with exasperation. She came all the way here just to return his jacket?

She makes her proposition: “People won’t believe us if we say it’s not true, so do you want to make it true?” She’s interested in dating, but he turns her down flatly: “No. I don’t want to say we’re dating. It’s ridiculous. If I go outside and announce that it’s not true, you’ll be embarrassed for coming here. So you go out and explain that it was nothing.”

Hurt and angered, she blurts, “This is all because of you!” She reminds him that she knows who that other girl is. He has no patience for her threats, and tells her to stop playing around.

He leaves. Smarting at the rejection, Heyi grabs her phone, determined to cause some damage.

Heyi sends Tae-kyung a photo of Mi-nam and says, “I told you I knew who it was. See, I’m not playing around.”

Tae-kyung now realizes that she knows Mi-nam is the other girl. She’s on her way to announce it to the reporters, griping all the while, “How dare he reject me!”

Time is short, so Tae-kyung has to decide quickly how to handle this. He turns to Mi-nyeo and asks, “Go Mi-nam, let me ask you again. Do you have to stay? Do you have to remain here as a man, and as Go Mi-nam?”

She nods.

That decides things. He has his answer, so Tae-kyung rushes out to grab Heyi, who’s almost at the lobby. She’s angry and determined to expose Mi-nam: “Do you think you can shut me up now? Let go!”

Heyi tries to wrench free of his grasp, so he does what he can to stop her — he grabs her, and kisses her in front of the reporters.

(Omo omo!)

The flashbulbs go off and the reporters crowd to get their shots of the couple kissing at the top of the stairs…

…while Mi-nyeo watches from afar.

Her heart hurts again. She asks, “Mother Superior, does electricity hurt like this?”

COMMENTS

Aieeeee, I love Tae-kyung!

Like I said, huuuuuuge softie. He is so bad at being the badass, because he’s actually quite kindhearted and no amount of curtness will cover that. For instance, he knows that intervening on Heyi’s behalf is probably more trouble than it’s worth, and he’s not exactly happy about it — but in the moment, he can’t help but do the “right thing.” Even if he has to deal with the distasteful consequences, which require him to act enamored of someone he can’t stand.

Speaking of which, I LOVE his last gesture. It’s another kdrama cliche — the fake kiss that is seen by the “real” love interest — but again, I like that it has a stronger purpose in this story. Not knowing how Mi-nyeo feels about him, the kiss is really a sacrifice on Tae-kyung’s part — one that is purely FOR Mi-nyeo’s benefit. I love that he asks with grave intensity whether she absolutely must stay as a man, as a member of the band, because if she didn’t, he could tell Heyi to screw it and let her do her spiteful worst. But because Mi-nyeo has shown that this is important to her, he has to preserve it — even if it makes his life hellish for the foreseeable future. *tear*

(Btw, the actors must have a blast acting out all the over-the-top imagination sequences.)

In another drama, I think it could have annoyed me that the main character is so clueless of her body’s attraction to her man. But in this drama, it works for this innocent almost-nun character, particularly since she did have that whole electrical-shock thing, too. This reminds me of the Hong sisters’ drama Fantasy Couple, which is another instance when I was okay with the lead character’s misinterpretation of her heartbeats, because Anna also had a plausible reason for mistaking them for something else. (In her case, amnesia and the belief that her love interest was actually her boyfriend, when he was not.)

As for Shin-woo… Aw, poor Shin-woo. With Episode 6, he has officially missed the boat. Sure, you could say that it’s his own fault for keeping the secret too long, and as we know, love is hugely influenced by timing. Bad timing just confirms that this wasn’t a relationship that was going to work in kdramaland. He’s in the same predicament as Mi-nam, actually. At first, he had gone on with her lie without the expecation that feelings would get involved. Unfortunately, the longer the lie goes on, the harder it is to manage feelings that are one-sided. I think the actor’s limitations keep this loveline from being as compelling as it could be, but I’m okay with that, because Jang Geun-seok is just killing it. I’m so thrilled that there’s finally a drama where I’m in love with his acting and his character.

Regarding the family situation, here’s my take on it:

Sung-chan tells Mo Hwa-ran in this episode that Tae-kyung has declined to work with her, but she doesn’t want to work with someone else — it must be Tae-kyung. She has picked the song written by Go Jae-hyun (the man we can suppose is Mi-nam’s father), which is her signature song. She explains that it has to be this song, and it has to be Tae-kyung remaking it.

This is speculation, but I think Mi-nyeo may not be the daughter of Go Jae-hyun. Consider:

Tae-kyung was raised by his father, the conductor whose last name is Hwang. Hwa-ran has kept her son a secret and only dropped by occasionally to see young Tae-kyung, leaving him starved for maternal affection. Based on Hwa-ran’s actions, it suggests that Tae-kyung and his father both think they’re blood-related; they’re unaware of a songwriter named Go who may be also involved.

Mi-nam and Mi-nyeo were not raised by their parents, and Mi-nyeo doesn’t recognize her father in the photograph; she just assumes the man must be her father. Therefore I think it’s safe to say that if Songwriter Go raised the twins, it was very early on in their lives. When he died, they were sent to live with Flighty Aunt, who was told that the kids’ mother had already died. Being irresponsible, she dropped them off at the orphanage.

Therefore, I suspect that Mi-nyeo is wrong about the man in the photo being her father, and I think there’s a chance she isn’t the biological daughter of Songwriter Go. Just putting it out there…

Okay, okay, I give up, sign me up for "Inappropriate Crushes on Much Younger Men" anonymous-

Goodness knows after watching this episode I need therapy! ;) (And thanks to you gals pointing out the very attractive ahem views during the pseudo-date, I'm going to need more therapy! ;) )

But most of all I NEED trailers for the next episode... where's my dealer?!

Ugh.. I'm trying to figure out the ending kiss scene.
Did they both actually enjoy it? It seems like it, with the way he's moving his head and putting his hands on the back of her head. Oh, and they both closed their eyes. It could just be that he wants the kiss to seem real for the reporters, but.. garhh, he seems like he actually liked it. This is killing me. I'm trying to figure out the kiss scene and trying to predict what's going to happen next instead of doing my homework like I should be.. so addicting T_T
Also, I read somewhere that the kiss scene took very few takes. Does that mean that JGS and UEE have chemistry?! And actually are attracted to each other?! DDD:

I'm rarely in love with the main guy AND the second guy, but I just LOVE both taekyung and shinwoo! And did anyone else notice Shinwoo's pants were just a tad too tight?...... hehehe~ I felt so bad for him- talk about a kdrama cliche! She looks everywhere except straight ahead of her!
And jgs! I've been in love with him for a while, but this just takes it to the next level... He's totally rocking that meryl streep sneer, hahaha~

The fun is over; the angst begins. All of the characters except the crazy aunt are going to be miserable for the next five episodes at least.

So, I watched half of this episode Thursday night and then went to bed planning on watching the other half Friday morning... but I overslept and didn't want to get fired so I had to put it off. Instead. I read the recap on my lunch break (I LOVE my Blackberry) and when I read the part about Shin-Woo's date/non-date I thought it sounded really creepy. But I just watched the rest of the epi and I have to agree it was extra cute. And, even though I knew how it was all gonna end... I was still hoping against hope that she would see him standing there. And, even though I think he's an idiot for not running after her, he played the heartbreak perfectly. The way his smile fades from his face and the (annoyingly) passive-aggressive "You should have just taken on more step." Made me very sad and very mad at Min-Yeo, even though it's not her fault. I think someone hit on it before but Shin-Woo's only problem is that he's trying too hard. Both of the times that his confession was thwarted it was because he was trying to make it into this Grand Finale Gesture and he missed his shot... plus, there's the shoe thing, too... he never had a chance.

The part of the drama where one or both of the leads sacrifice themselves by dating wildly inappropriate people and makes everyone around them confused and miserable is generally my least favorite part so I'll probably be made at t he world for the next few weeks. I hope the Fairy Storyline doesn't go down to the last episode like it did with that Creepy Older Guy in Choon-Hyang.

#154 and others

Actually very reluctantly agree with all the posts here that think UEE and JGS have chemistry... of a sorts.

TK can't _really_ bring himself to do the full out I-despise-you act with MN but TK's ultra-frosty, prim-and-mean attitude towards YH and YH's diva-holier-than-thou attitude back leads to crashes that spark.

Eg. I’m really liking his purse-his-lips-in-contemplation of how he can most cleverly and devastatingly deliver his latest cutting comments. (The spill over from Hong sisters’ cleverness? TK comes across as very fast on his feet!)

Just when the audience wants to go in and give HY a few good slaps (or worse), he does his “purse his lips” thinking, and asks seemingly irrelevantly “Where’s your car?”. Far? Good. He coolly bends over, takes her one high heel and flings it satisfyingly into the river. Then turns to leave, glancing at his watch “I’m going to be late.” (Yes!)

HY goes crazy and throws her other shoe at him, which he obligingly kicks into the river to join its sister. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!

TK is very definite and defined a character here. Without doubt a softie, but also in no unclear terms _not_ a push over… he’ll save HY at great personal cost because he has his own set of values, but he sure as h--- isn’t going to take any of her tandrums lying down either, specially when she keeps threatening MN. And he’s not into sparing her feelings. He’ll hang up on her, tell her to go look in the mirror if she thinks he’s sneaking peaks at her, and (best of all) his incredulous “Date _you_?!” with classic sneer and implied "now I _have_ heard everything!"

Still, I can say is that I'm not sure I'll ever be enamoured of a JGS/UEE pairing even in another serial- I think JGS too talented an actor and want to see him up against more experienced on-screen partners!

To those (quite rightly) indignant at how thoroughly TK kissed the Fake Fairy: I think someone has pointed it out already, but he really *had* to make it a good one, a literally stop-you-in-your-tracks one. He had to make it the kiss of a lifetime for her, not just a peck on the lips for the reporters, which would stopped her for about 3 seconds (and probably made her even angrier). She was in a temper (hell hath no fury etc.) and just about to get sweet revenge that cost her nothing, and the reporters were just a staircase away, so he had to make it exceptional for her, who'd probably been kissed aplenty by hot actors, as Korea's Sweetheart. Nice set up. It wasn't *just* a hot kiss so that our hearts would ache for MN (though it did that serviceably enough), it actually *had* to be a hot kiss, logically. Wow! Logic in a K-romcom! What am I smoking?

Hey, was it just me, or did anyone else for a split second think that JGS in the parody was a woman? I wonder if he would be pleased to hear that I made this mistake? Quite possibly. Will someone please give me his e-mail so that I can let him know and cheer his day? Maybe I'll even take the boy out for an ice-cream, by way of apology/adoration. I can't speak Korean but we won't need a translator. I'll just pet his lovely head and bask in his cuteness.

@ 132 Noofar: Interesting thoughts.

I was thinking that most likely SW will miss the chance again because he has been doing that for the past episodes but will continue to work harder to stay closer to MN. TK on the other hand will notice how close both of them seem to be and start to feel irritated due to jealousy this time. I think it will take a few more episode for TK to come clean with his own feelings.

After the kiss (I refused to think that TK and HY enjoyed the kiss still) , HY feeling high and mighty will think that TK finally regret his earlier decision not to date her (like what she said before when she went to the wrong van - "why? now you think it's a pity I leave just like that") or she will vow to win him over. This will bring the start to a fake relationship where one of Soompi articles mentioned that HY will start messing around with MN thoughts. I'm really hoping some how some where MN will came to know that TK did the kiss for her.

I also think they TK and MN will be back to normal soon since they are sharing the same room. I'm still waiting for TK's sleep walking. Hahahaha~ I'm hoping for more sweet moments next episode for the angst this episode caused us with no preview some more.

By the way, I also think that TK slept well that night was because MN was "holding" him? Hehe

As for the ending, putting all episodes and comments together till date, I think that if MN eventually left but return again with her long hair plus the pin and they will go to the amusement park together (cos TK mentioned that you only do this kind of things with your gf).

I'm a sucker for sweet moments and most of the time a lot of drama don't really satisfy me like BOF, Goong etc. Till date, I think only Coffee Price do justice to it. Hopefully the ending for YB will be filled with many and longer sweet scenes instead of those "ok we are finally together now" and that's it, 5 min of fame that kind. Angst stir strong emotions but sweet moments also bring happiness to the viewers. I hope the writers understand that.

That's my take! =)

@ 159 serendipity: You are so CUTE! lol~ For me I think I just need this sentence: Oppa, sang rang hey. Hahaha~ As for your explanation on the kiss, you made me start to accept it the way you put it. Finally I'm seeing some light, thanks a lot man! Feeling a bit better now.

Did you see the youtube clip on this where JGS video call with TIffany? He was supposed to be her in the parody. He was asking her if he look pretty and Tiffany agreed! JGS make a lot of priceless facial expressions too!

JGS look very pretty as a woman! I can't say that especially for JYH. I wondered why LHK is the only one wearing heels. Lol

Oh ya JGS lips outline is damn nice and his chin is so sharp too. Even most of the real girls don't have such beautiful features. Envious!

I'm LOVING this drama! The character are so well written and the actors/actresses are showing a range of emotions and bringing them to life with depth. Unlike other dramas where the main characters fall in love simply b/c they are 'the main characters' (and for no other reasons), it's easy to see why Mi-nyeo would fall in love with Tae-kyung and vice versa. Their characters are simply lovable!

One of my favorite scenes in this episode is in the car when Tae-kyung gave Mi-nyeo the hairpin. All the subtleties in facial expression nearly brought tears to my eyes! I just love how Mi-nyeo stared at the hairpin (when Tae-kyung told her it was for her) with heartfelt thankfulness. Considering the situation she's in, ahhhh, what a sweet gesture on Tae-kyung's part.

I agree, in another drama, I would've been annoyed that the main female character doesn't even realize she's falling for the main male character. However, still young as she is, she was never raised in a normal father/mother family situation and with her innocence as a to be nun, and the hilarious electrical shock, her 'not knowing/understanding' love is befitting her character. That just goes to show how well the Hong sisters have mapped out a character's behavior in relation to their life history/experiences.

I also want to add how much I love Jeremy. Two thumbs up for him. He's so funny!

I have to say, initially I was taken aback by the kiss, but after thinking about...it made total sense to me. He had to do that...and that, the relationship b/t TK and HY will be the catalyst to help bring MN and TK's emotions out into the open. I kind of wonder if TK himself doesn't realize his own feelings for MN? I don't know, I guess it'll be more evident after episode 7 (this waiting is going to kill me!).

Anyways, I have high hopes for how TK and MN feelings for each other will develop in the next episodes. And I have high hopes for their eventual kiss (please refer to the PSH and JGS Etude House CM...) Though as mentioned above, even an awkward setup b/t MN and TK would be even more romantic b/c it'll be more emotional and with more feeling.

My imagination has been running wild too.
Since the 1st episode was a little bit connect us the movie "The sound of music"
I imagine the end of this drama will be a wedding in the church just like that movie
ha haha ... the bride is definitely Go Mi Nam and the groom is ______whoever the Hong sisters want to fill in that blank. LOL

I love this episode so much! from beginning to end it was just really good! especially the Heyi-Taekyung part in the studio. i love how he drew the 'hi' SO big in front of Heyi to corrects her gaman'i'.. and the CCTV one. hilarious! then the Shinwoo-Minyeo 'blind dating' scene. so sweet. so so sweet. then the Heyi-Taekyung again by the river. I love Taekyung's expression when he kick the shoe..lol. and i love how they bicker about the hairpin when Taekyung says that he bought it for $100 but Minyeo said that he lied because the price tag says that it's only $3. ^^ sigh i had a fun time watching this episode. i know it's going to get more intense in coming episodes but hopefully the fun-fully-satisfied feeling won't disappear.

and about the parents part, i always assume that Taekyung is not Hwaran's real son. somehow i just feel like he might not be her son but the twins are her children. well more twists are coming out soon so we'll see.. ^^ sigh i can't wait for Wednesday to come!

@149 Ary

"I was referring to attraction"
Mmk. Do you not find that this is different from liking someone? Even with that, you don't think this (attraction)is based on something concrete within you(generally) as a person?

Yeah Jeremy is "attracted" to her but that's not why he likes her. Which furthers the point that his "attraction" is based solely on the fact that she's a girl and he's a boy. I think that the writers want us to get that men(Jeremy) are attracted to women(Mi Nyeo), no matter how well they disguise themselves.

And I get your point about SW but I'm still not there with you. Attraction I get, liking, not so much. I mean I don't believe that we've(the audience) been given enough to believe that as strongly as he does. I don't say that to say that I think he's silly or delusional, I just believe that its a flaw somewhere. Maybe its more about making something larger in his mind than it is in reality. That's the "feeling" that I get from him :) Which in turn makes him a bit creepy but I like creepy...sometimes ;)

@152 Fan “Inappropriate Crushes on Much Younger Men” anonymous-
So is this the outreach I need to join? How much are the hourly session?

And to a later post: Is it possible that HY reminds TK of his mother? I mean she's nasty, to be sure but there is a fakeness that he really doesn't respect within her. That smacks of his mother to me. I think that HY is insecure. She hasn't won him over and though she may feel like she has the upper-hand now(until we find out Wed), I think that she's attracted to him because of this.

@159 Serendipity...I totally agree about the kiss. It actually doesn't bother me at all. I get why he did it, so its cool. I hate it for MN and her "electricity" issues .I think that he just won't understand the consequences. Normally girls tend to be a little distant after things like that and guys don't usually comprehend these types of reactions. One thing in MN's favor is that she's not "that"' normal so we'll have to see.

Awww.. This episode was bittersweet.. ;( I love our sweet lovely Shinwoo but how can he be so patient and almost unaffected? I mean he had a chance to spend more time with Minyeo and yet again he lets her be.. I mean with all the chances almost handed to him, he still doesn't get her. I mean I know the whole Kdrama process, the main guy will always be her first in everything.. And in this case its Taekyung, to Minyeo's knowledge it seems that Taekyung was the FIRST to know, but really we all know it was Shinwoo, but he's so polite about it that he doesn't let her know that he knows, blowing his chances of growing closer to her romantically.. Oh goshers.. Poor boy..

Taekyung, was super duper sweet.. I felt so bad for him, I mean he was sacrificing so much for Minyeo. I'm sure he's not so sure of his feelings for her, only knowing that he just cares for her. Although this sacrifice hurts not only him but her. Its cute to see him being such a softie with Minyeo. Buying her a pin, aw, it was so cute! I think I want one now.. Haha. And the fact that it was her who was on his mind and that he asked her if she would just stay a girl. I'm suspecting that he wants her to be a girl, because he likes her better that way.. ;)

Minyeo, oh poor little girl. And its almost cute that she is so inexperienced with all this love stuff that she assumes its the electricity from the taser that makes her feel the way she does. Its super cute actually.. ;D And its sad that when she's with Shinwoo she says there is no electricity.. And I'm assuming thats a sign of saying she doesn't feel anything for him.. ;( I feel so bad for him, but its funny how she goes, like oh snap, Taekyung's a dude too. Haha, but of course we all know she loves the closeness her and Taekyung has that she has come to like him. AND the kiss between Heyi and Taekyung was so sad.. I mean why did Jang Geun Suk make it so passionate? I was like why? Why can't you just be cold? I mean did you see how his hand was caressing Heyi's hair? ARGH, I'm guessing he's just trying to make it real..? ARGH. Haha. Still poor Minyeo.. ;(

Overall this episode was good. ;)

@Nea (#167):
I guess it all comes down to how we define 'like.' For me, I think there are different stages in the term liking someone: there's the initial feelings (attraction, or in the other words, liking someone/the feelings you feel for someone in the FIRST place) and then there's the feelings that develop afterwards based on actions, ideas, facts, and perceptions (which I also consider 'liking' someone, but in a further developing stage).

For my part, I see SW's feelings for MN somewhere 'initial feelings/liking someone in the first place ('first' is the key word here)' and 'the feelings that develop afterwards/liking someone after based on actions, ideas, facts, and perceptions.' But I think, correct me if I'm wrong, you see it progressing on a much later place in the scale and that's what doesn't make sense to you.

Jeremy, on the other hand, is very much stuck in the 'initial feelings.' The reason his feelings don't progress further based on what he knows of MN is because he deliberately places a distance between himself and MN. I think Jeremy's attraction could go further if his role wasn't limited to comic relief. SW, as the secondary male lead, doesn't. It's not during his wooing that he gets to know her and his feelings start to develop on more concrete things, it's the moments in between. I find it sufficient, i.e. his belief that she will be able to accept the real him, especially after seeing her reaction after unexpectedly telling her the truth about his background (though I can't help but think what a bad match they would make). But you've stated that you don't find it sufficient, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. *g*

ETA (second response to Nea's (#167) post): "Maybe its more about making something larger in his mind than it is in reality."
I think I agree with you on this, though I'm not sure if my reasons for thinking this is the same as yours. And I don't find this creepy because he has only been acting as a romantic (and for other reasons, which I'll explain in due time in this comment), so I confess I'm not really sure what makes it so (and you definitely aren't the first one to feel this way, so I feel a little strange). I think the fact that MN is the first girl (and remember, as an idol he probably has had a limited contact with girls at a really get-to-know-well basis) who he feels will be able to accept him, unlike the girl in Seoul he used to like. SW even goes far to think that she'll also be able to understand him, like the way he understands her. Unfortunately, I think his feelings for her are blinding him from the fact that it's not just MN's isolated upbringing that makes her oblivious, but also it's in nature. His subtleties -- whether it's in regards to his wooing or his emotions -- are beyond her comprehension unless it is spelled out for her. It is not a relationship that's on an equal and/or same level, mentally or emotionally. But SW -- being romantically deprived due to his status as an idol and before that, as someone who comes from a place that's looked down as being provincial -- is willing to believe that there's really a chance that she could be the one who will not only be able able to understand him and accept the real him, but return his feelings.

NOTE: In case it wasn't clear earlier, I should clarify for those unfamiliar with this matter that the place where SW comes from really isn't provincial (or backwards/rough/uncouth/etc. -- I mean, when you take a look at it, it's just another metropolitan city in Korea), but there definitely is some of that stigma rooted in his southern accent (North Gyeongsang Province accent, I think).

I'm in for the "Inappropriate Crushes on Much Younger Men" Club ! :)
I was stroke with TK's character from the 1rst episode, the devil/angel and androgynous look are pretty attractive though...

Just love the manager voice over at the beginning, especially the cat sound from MN lol

About SW, I read an interesting comment on soompi forum which basically says that he's playing safe on this situation...
And I admit that for me, it does make a point here... Yes SW is sweet, protective with grand gestures... But ironically is the one who is hidding from a possible love relationship with MN here...
So many occasions to let her know, and so many occasions that flied by...

I mean love is about timing and taking a risk at the same time... But sadly trying to protect himself during the process doesn't mean that SW could avoid the pain in the end...
I don't blame him, I do know how hard it is to go for your feelings...

About TK and UEE's kiss... I was soooo annoyed with it at the 1rst place : why did he close his eyes?!
But now I realized that I might have been upset because it was related to another point : there is definitally a chemistry between TK & UEE...
You know what they say : there is a thin line between hate and love ( especially when it comes to attraction I think ) >3<

Anyway I still hope for a twist like with the "swimming pool rescue"
I don't forget that TK is quite a freak when it comes to physical closeness so *cross the fingers*

And finally the Genie parody is so fun!

I think this episode is ‘crap, that’s right, he is a guy’ (statement during the refrigerator scene) and crap, that’s right, she’s a girl’ (car scene – driving MN to the church)

In this episode, I feel that the writers are paving the way for TK and MN to realize that they can be attracted to each other. In some ways, they already sort of like each other. Now they are faced with the possibility of ‘attraction’. It’s beginning to show, like a large pink elephant in the room that is slowly revealing itself. I think they will have to go through great lengths to hide it. Because a large pink elephant in the room can be seen by others too.

As I write this, I am not actually done watching the episode yet but I did read JB’s recap (thanks JB!) so I know what happened.

I’m curious on how they will deal with the fake relationship with HY. I really hope that MN realizes that the pounding heartbeat has nothing to do with electricity from the taser. I am excited to see how she will find out that she’s in love with TK---I am hoping for the best and in a way expecting that the Hong sisters will not let me down.

Aside from being the ‘crap, that’s right, he is a guy’ and crap, that’s right, she’s a girl’ episode, it is the episode of opposites for TK and MN. MN, who has lived a solitary life hidden away in a convent is now faced with the situation of becoming overly exposed and popular through her supposed solo album. TK, who has always avoided trouble to keep “control” over situations is purposely created trouble for himself so he could protect MN.

Aww…cheer up Mi Nyeo! You will find out someday that some guys don’t say much but relay in actions what they really feel. A.N.Jell guys might find HY pretty on the outside but they will never take care of her the way they take care of you.

Sorry for the long post. Waaah…It’s a long wait till Wednesday. Sigh.

You are on the money with this one. The Hong sisters did well in the gradual development of TK and MN's feelings for each other. I too wonder when MN will realize this electricity running through her heart and the pain she feels is because TK means more than just "hyung-nim" to her. TK too, when will he realize that she's no longer a nuisance but someone he can't live without? Ah, I'm a hopeless romantic.

On the kiss- I think it was hot on TK's side, but on YH?

I'm of the personal opinion UEE should have kissed him back eventually (she didn't appear to be doing anything but standing there with her eyes closed). The initial shock okay… but if after 5 seconds you haven’t started kissing back and are still woodenly looking like you don’t know what to do, then there’s an acting gap. At the least she should have melted a little (she still looked tense)- I mean, the guy you're falling in love with just really, really kissed you for the first time, not just _any_ guy either, a guy who just happens to look and act like JGS(!) and you're just along for the ride?!

Since there's no trailer out for next week, I want to log my requests for the next two episodes
(1) SW makes some sort of definitive move and he and MN have a romantic moment (or two, or maybe more...)
(2) MN ROCKS singing "Without Words"
(3) Manager and Jeremy get more fun screen time!

I admit I want the first for three reasons
1) Prosta-tag! (Just because!) I mean what reason do you need to want two ultra attractive, charming characters to have some sweet moments?
2) Time for MN to grow some self-confidence and feel her own worth!
3) Give TK a reason to be jealous ... okay, the kiss doesn't count, he was doing it for her, and to be fair how was he to know MN is basically head over heels in love with him by now when MN doesn't even know it herself? But I want to take him down a peg or two for arrogantly and airily dismissing any interest in MN as "Oh well, you were his time-filler then." Sorry darling you're incredible, and I'll do anything for you two to be together, but it's time you stop putting her down, and realize there's at least one _way_ wonderful guy out there (not even counting beautiful, funny Jeremy!) who's ready to sweep MN off her feet if you don't do some fast soul searching! ;)

(2) I think has some of that confidence, character-growing potential for MN, but in some very dark, vindictive part of my brain, I think I also want MN to be a super-star because I know HY will get ultra jealous! VIP tickets to your movie opening? Sorry, I'm headed to stand in a line the size of the population of Korea to listen to MN sing a beautiful song TK wrote and composed and asked MN to sing for him... maybe next time?

I love these recaps, and this show -- even though I haven't seen a single episode because I am having computer problems right now (it's a long story). So I think maybe it's more accurate to say than I am a fan of the awesome Dramabeans recaps of "you're beautiful" than the show itself. The pictures you choose and the way you describe the show make it really come to life. I never read graphic novels, but I can sort of understand their appeal now. And the people on this website doing the recaps for shows like "smile" and "city hall" are also doing one heck of a job. I just had to comment on how great this website is for Korean TV-deprived fans like me!

I'm just ubsent that this beautiful drama has to compete with IRIS....they should have schedule it during the weekend or after was done.....the ratings are not that bad YAB post it at 10.1 rating on episode 6 but it derserve to be recognizes by the media and audiance alike.....this is truly a jem....after watching so many rom/com dramas being such a failure this is truly awsome...........

Even if in Korea the ratings are not what the production expected we should let them know that in the international community the show is a HIT....VIIKII Views 529,164 yaeh!!!!

The fact, that I'm still reading this thread is given proof on how much I'm enjoying this drama. One concern I have for this drama is that sometimes w/ the Hong Sisters is that they drag out the second lead who's trying to hold onto the main girl/guy plot line. For example in DGCH, Uhm Tae Woong's character tries to hold onto Chun-hyang until the very end. Same thing in My Girl, Jung-woo trying to hold onto Yoo-rinand the same thing happened in HGD, where Chang-whe (sp?) tries to hold onto to Yi-nok. One could even say that happened in Fantasy Couple to an extent. So does that mean HY is going to hold onto TK until the end or Shin-woo is going to hold onto Mi-nam till the end? I don't know if I can bear w/ that much angst, unless it's done right for ten more episodes though.

The whole idea of sacrifice (TK doing this for MN) and the fact that the main leads only have eyes for each other even though neither of them knows it yet is also two things that always consistently show up in Hong Sisters' dramas ('cept maybe Fantasy Couple didn't have a sacrifice? I can't remember). But it's a setup that I usually like in most cases. String along people purposely is annoying...but so does second leads not getting the clue that they missed the boat.

I just started watching this drama. Its episode 6 now. Does Shin and Jeremy know she's a girl yet?

Honestly, at first I wasn't really thrilled by the perspective of watching a drama about an idol group, thought it would be cheesy and corny... but since the first episode, I've been drawn to "You're beautiful": rythm of the serie is nice, story is gripping and characters all have engaging sides to their personalities (except for the "fake fairy"...): Shin-woo's both-never-ending-kindness-and-badluck, the cold-but-deep-down-really-kind-hearted Tae-kyung, the cute and clueless Mi-nyeo, Jeremy who never fails to make me burst out laughing...
The end of episode 6 makes me anticipate next week's episodes, really can't wait! Asian dramas are really nice to watch and always come up with very nice and new ideas (unfortunately, we can't tell the same about french series; well I'm french and must admit that french series suck).
Love your job with the recaps, javabeans: both precise and funny to read.

173 Ary "correct me if I’m wrong, you see it progressing on a much later place in the scale and that’s what doesn’t make sense to you."
You've got it. I think that he's in deeper but I will say that I find it commendable on the writers' part to not make him one that chooses to misunderstand. I was irritated with him in ep 5 for his jealous 'cause I felt it was too much too soon. If this had come from TK I would've understood but him...Then, I was thankful, in ep 6 when he clarified things. I think that he's getting more to a point of acceptance into what he needs to do to get "this" girl. Its definitely gonna be more work for him.

I also wanted to point out that you are very insightful into him as a character. Personally, I feel that you see more about him than the writers' have really fleshed out. I think this is great, because you can empathize more with him because of that. I watched the first eps last night and I did see a sensitive person within him, not more than TK but to the same degree. I think that's interesting. I don't see it to the point that you describe, but taking into account all that you state, his background, his isolation, etc I get where you are coming from. I also think that his sensitivity is what has him in this mess. If he had thought less of being "sensitive" to her, he might have been able to be honest with her by now. I think that again shows the dynamic of what a person needs in their lives. Being that MN is the way she is, she needs someone like TK who will call her out and push her, then step back before going too far(not saying he has mastered this but I see the potential).

Lastly, I'm glad we can agree on something, but don't feel strange about the creepy thing. I think that for its creepy because I would rather be more straightforward/overt. And we see more of that from TK at this point, so I identify with him more. SW's intentions are sweet and kind and definitely lovable but the twinge of creepy stings me a bit. But its not a kind of creepy that one can't deal with. Simple put...sometimes our best is kinda creepy.

I think that you definitely have a basis to be wary but out of all the shows that you've mentioned, this one really has a lighter, more fun feel to it. I think that if that does happen, the way it unfolds will be easier to stomach and dismiss. Because I tell you, in DGCH I hated UTW character. As an actor I love him but I hated him in that show. Honestly, his role and the constant run around, ruined that show for me. HGD and FC were understandable, given the situations and the characters but still it was something that didn't have to occur being that just like in YB, early on, the audience had given up on the secondary lead. I will say that in FC though I knew the outcome, I wanted the husband to redeem himself, he had opportunity after opportunity.

Now from my point of view, I think it would be great to give SW more one-sided romantic time with MN and for MN to see for herself the charms of other guys so that she knows why she chooses TK in the end. I know it could be as simple as "I liked him first" but at least you know why. And honestly I like reasons like that. Sometimes I think they are the most true and raw. The same for TK and HY, they have alot of chemistry so seeing something "almost" happen won't be horrible.

AHH. i cant believe they left out preview 7 out of all previews... ><

but i rlyyy like shinwoo & minyu together ): even tho its kindaa obvious she'll end up w/ taekyung i like shinwoo soo much :D soo cute

im rly surprised tho bout how fast paced the drama is. theres a lot of things going on already and its gr8, but i thought people would find out that minyu was a girl in like the middle of the drama but it was only at ep 2 so i was like, they know she's a girl already ? ! ?
i hope minyu spends more time w shinwoo cuz then itd be a lot more interesting w taekyung jealous & i dont wanna see shinwoo all depressed either.

its only ep 6 and already so much has happened o.o there must be new stuff coming if theres like 21 episodes of the whole drama...haha cant wait ^^

I haven't laughed this much in awhile! It feels good :) This drama is amazing. I love how the Hong Sisters make everything fun yet serious and when you think there's going to be a romantic/serious moment...here comes the fun again.

I'm slowly falling in love with Tae-kyung and his mean guy/soft guy personality. No, he's not really mean just harshly blunt and is easy to tell you just how he thinks about you. Though, he can be terribly sweet and if I were Mi-nam I wouldn't know what to do. That much sexy can kill a person :p

As for Shinwoo, my heart aches for him. (espically at the scene where he told minam to turn around...and she got the call for Taekyung instead. The music just suddenly stopped and my jaw pratically dropped.) Though, why do I feel a sort of stalkerish/obsessive vibe coming off of him? Idk, maybe more character development is needed.

Jeremy is too adorable. Haha, he reminds me of Natkutsu from Hana Kimi in his whole: "Omg, I wont admit to myself that Im "gay"

The kiss scene at the end stopped my heart. Espically Mi-nam's face. :(

I'm suffering from Your Beautiful withdrawal right now, while I wait for next week to arrive. Gah! I wish it would hurry already. Unlike Boys Before Flowers, this is definately a drama that I must keep in touch with and read up on whenever possible.
