Lee Young-ae poses for Elle
Top actress Lee Young-ae poses for her first spread since getting secretly married over the summer, and will be featured in the December issue of Elle magazine as part of the “Share Happiness” campaign.
The Share Happiness campaign will donate the 250 million won it raised for charity. Of the 93 total stars taking part, included is Lee’s good friend and colleague Jang Dong-gun, as well as Joo Jin-mo, Hwang Jung-min, Su Ae, Shin Mina, Cha Tae-hyun, Han Jae-seok, Gong Hyung-jin, and Kim Nam-gil. Stars like Go So-young, Kim Ah-joong, and Sohn Dam-bi took on a glamorous look for the shoot, while others like Han Hye-jin, Han Ji-min, and Yoon Jin-seo were shot with family members.
Lee has been relatively low-profile since her surprising August wedding to a Korean-American (not that she’s the type who’s constantly in the media eye anyway), choosing to focus on her schoolwork as she aims for her doctorate degree. She said at the time of her marriage that she would continue to work if a good role came along, but so far has not stated any plans for specific acting projects.

I believe that she is the only A-List actress in Korea that may have certain spiritual, social and cultural intelligence, and mindful of her being in this world. The rest of the A-List actresses are quite empty-headed and have not much substance.

Loved her in DJG and Sympathy for Mrs. Revenge. She needs to come back and make another drama or movie. Didn’t know she was already in her 40s. She looked really young in DJG and that aired only 5 years ago. Thanks for the info JB.

I think she’s almost done with acting. Probably done with TV.
Before Dae Jang Geum, she was already in half retirement with regards to acting. She was offered Winter Sonata (very early draft though), but didn’t want to do that after recently finishing her movie with Yoo Ji Tae, One Fine Spring Day. She was really, really tired, and was also reluctant to do Jewel in the Palace.
I imagine Jewel in the Palace is such a mixed bag for her. She is Jang Geum pretty much to the world, and she feels some civic and professional responsibility live up to that.
I think the only actress with similar mystique now is Shim Eun-Ha. Both have talked about returning to acting, but . . .

It is disgusting. 93 stars only donated 250 million won. In comparison to CJW one billion won to school early this year, I guess CJW is indeed an angel. Nevertheless, she can still do more!!
@17 – i think to call it ‘disgusting’ is too much of a judgment. she and others are free to do with their money as they wish. it’s very possible she does a lot with the rest of her time and money. or not. either way, that’s her business.

Come on, if CJW alone can donate 1 billion won to help the needy children or poor, 93 of them can definitely do better than 1 billion won!!
@ 19: I thought it was the campaign, through the cooperation of Elle and these 93 stars, that are donating the 250 million won, not the actors and actresses doing the donations themselves.

250 million won equates to about USD20,000. With 93 actors/actresses, they only contributed to about USD200 each.
If it is a campaign, that’s even worst i.e. someone else contributed to the 250 million won because they lent their face or fame!! So, what have each of them donated?
