Oh no I found out about this way too late! I live about 2 hours away from LA, and I didn't even know...Sigh. Looks like I'll just have to catch this another time or on the PC. Bong Joon-ho is a very impressive man, and I intend to check out his works real soon.

Watched Mother last night at the LACMA with my 17 year old daughter. Afterward, the Q & A session with Bong Joon-ho was insightful and interesting. There was nearly a full-house with a mixed crowd of Asians and non-Asians. Absolutely loved the film and will ponder its multi-level themes. Boon commented on some, but would have loved to have dinner with him and talked more about Korean society and its non-supportive role specifically to women with special-needs children.

Bong sure is getting a lot of international attention. There was also a retrospective of his films a few months ago in London at the British Film Institute.

Memories of Murder is a great suspense movie. I watched it several years ago and still vividly remember how good it was. Kim Sang Kyung had so much charisma in the movie - he stole the spotlight from Song Kang Ho easily. After watching him there, I immediately searched for his other movies and dramas but neither could match with the intense he displayed in Memories of Murder.

Memories of Murder is SUCH a good movie. It left me silent and brooding -- and I am already the silent and brooding type. It is way more of a horror movie than all of these movies of long-haired, pale school girls roaming around hallways and elevators and bathrooms -- there is always a bathroom to haunt -- killing people to avenge their rape or abandonment.

Host: meh. I did not care for the ending. Seriously, what the hell kind of ending is that anyway?

I hope to check out Mother soon.
