"... that’s EXACTLY how most Asian moms are when you marry their sons."

I'm Asian too, so I understand. But I would love it more if she stands by her opinion even when challenged, and not be all mousey and all when her husband or mother-in-law shoots down her opinions. I guess looking deeper it brings up the issues of expectations on accepted behaviour for her as a mother, wife and daughter-in-law. Or maybe I would love it more if her character seemed to... err.. have more of a spine?

Oh I like the budding noona love story too. I think it's sweet (though it might lead to nowhere).

Why do they have to use so much English? The can't say "Eugen's beauty secrets" using Korean words or what?

@16 Belleza

That's, right the side storey line is more interesting

for kdramas beside the main plot. It also relate to the

reality of our life esp. in asian cultures. The scriptwriter know how

 to enterntain us.

"I found the Yun Hee & Hae Sung plot to be completely depressing and their arguments repetitive"

Yeah, that's the thing. I'm one of the few people who prefers that storyline than the main one. It's bitter and mean . . . just like real life. (also, I like the budding noona love story. This Belleza has a weakness for "noona is pretty" storylines. :) ) Also, I only warmed up to Yeo Jun after seeing how much he cared for and wanted to do right by his sister.

"The thing I can’t stand about her is that she is all fierce and what not at moments when she spouts off without thinking especially regarding Sang Eun"

See, I always found it interesting how other Creating Destiny viewers see his mom . . . because, well, that's EXACTLY how most Asian moms are when you marry their sons.

It's a good show, because it kinda reiterates how "political" marriages are in traditional Asian culture. You're not only marrying him, your family is marrying their family.

Also, Sang Eung at times flirts with the "ignorant gyopo" stereotype. Thus, why the mom acts the way she does.

@ 12 belleza: Ahahahaa... no, I actually find the bromance between them rather adorable. I was referring to the damn Yun Hee-Hae Sung plot. Lemoncat is right... until Eps 5-6, I found the drama agonisingly slow. I believe because it was turning more into the Yun Hee & Hae Sung drama at that point, rather than the Sang Eun & Yeo Jun drama it had been touted to be from the previews and trailers (come on, I can't be the only person out there hooked to watch this just from the trailer!).

I found the Yun Hee & Hae Sung plot to be completely depressing and their arguments repetitive. Up until recently there was little progress in their storyline and I was seriously starting to pity the actor who played Hae Sung because he had to proclaim "She's my child!" God knows how many times. :P

Lemoncat - re Yeo Jun's mom... I KNOW, right? The thing I can't stand about her is that she is all fierce and what not at moments when she spouts off without thinking especially regarding Sang Eun, but when called on that by others (e.g. the grandma or grandpa) she immediately goes all meek and contrite. At least stand by your opinion! I cannot understand why she seems to trust her supposed friend, who blabs off unthinkingly all the damn time, than her own family.

If I were to go on about the flaws about this show there would be many (e.g. how can there be nothing redeeming about Hye Rim, her stepmother and stepfather? Are they only capable of acting for their own selfish interests?!), but instead I just choose to focus on how cute Sang Eun/Eugene & Yeo Jun/Ki Tae Young are in this drama. :D

Eugene and Ki Tae Young are an awesome couple in "Creating Destiny". They have on-screen chemistry that makes this show fun and exciting.

@ 1 mishane
If you think it's cute in the first 13 episodes, wait til you catch episodes 16 & 17! I'm literally itching to watch 18 & 19, and cursing since I will be overseas without internet when 20 & 21 airs...

@ 2 Alain
I can understand why you couldn't get into it, because I couldn't either at the beginning. How many episodes have you watched? I personally thought the first few were pretty slow going and kind of boring, but now that I'm past the early part, it's ADORABLE. I think it started picking up around episodes 5-6 when Eugene and Ki Tae Young's characters decided to work together to trick their elders rather than simply flailing at them. Like other people mentioned, it's flawed and rather cliche, but dang it's light, cute romantic-comedy fun, and the two leads are worth it.

@ 12 belleza
LOL! The dads should just get together and hang out. Yeo Jun's mother is one of the most irritatingly spineless characters ever. I've lost count of how many times she's been manipulated by Hye Rim XD

@ 2 Alain: I'm actually enjoying it, but I confess I'm merely watching it for Eugene & Ki Tae Young, i.e. the main couple. I tend to fast-forward the bits about the other side plot. :P It's very flawed but I enjoy it enough for the main couple. Also I find the grandfather character hilarious.
