Kim Bum cast as Park Jin-hee’s younger boyfriend

Interesting! Kim Bum has been confirmed for MBC’s upcoming The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry, which stars Eom Ji-won and is a sequel to 2004′s The Woman Who Wants To Marry. He’s currently busy with initial character work, as he’ll be playing the younger boyfriend to Park Jin-hee (War of Money) — their characters have a 12-year age gap.
The main story centers around three thirtysomething women (Wang Bit-na rounds out the trio along with Eom Ji-won are Park Jin-hee) who are getting fresh new starts in different ways. Wang, for instance, breaks things off with her fiancé, while Park Jin-hee starts a romance with a much younger man (Kim Bum). I wonder if he’ll be a contender for a serious relationship or more of a boy toy. Either way, it’s a great way to stir younger viewer interest while also satisfying the drama’s target base, since Kim Bum has serious noona appeal.
Before that show broadcasts in 2010, though, he’ll also be making a cameo appearance in family sitcom High Kick Through the Roof, which is the spin-off series of the show that made him a star, Unstoppable High Kick. He will be the next actor from the old cast to reappear in the new show, after Kim Hye-sung showed up in Episode 1 and Jung Il-woo in Episode 35. He’ll be featured in Episode 72 as the university student nephew to Kim Ja-ok; he stays at her house and makes an impression on Hwang Jung-eum‘s character.
Kim Bum finished filming his part on the evening of December 11. His good buddy Jung Il-woo came to cheer him on, although they didn’t appear together (and when Jung filmed his own cameo, Kim Bum was there). Kim said, “I’m extremely happy to be filming with director Kim Byung-wook again. Most of the staff members are the same from Unstoppable High Kick so it felt comfortable and fun, like coming home.”

He didn’t convince me as the playboy in BOF but he would make a perfect younger boyfriend who learns a thing or two.
Yup, Kim Bum has officially entered his idol Jo In Sung’s “noona killer” career path to monster success.
Park Jin Hee + Kim Bum is a little dicey, because if Kim Bum pulls out his “screamer” routine again, it won’t work. (Also because I can’t really see PJH mothering or noona-ing anybody.) Park Jin Hee’s naturally sexy, sophisticated, yet very likable — this is really KB’s role to screw up. He’ll need to step up.
@belleza:
Actually, from other movies I’ve watched with PJH I think she could def do the noona-ing thing. Most definitely.
I better watch this ^^ I think PJH is hilarious (with the other things I’ve watched of her) and this could be an enjoyable thing to watch:)
“Actually, from other movies I’ve watched with PJH I think she could def do the noona-ing thing.”
Thinking it over, you’re probably right. To me, Park Jin Hee is in Ha Ji Won territory with being naturally sexy and approachable. But where HJW is all about pout-seducing you into fixing her car, PJH almost seems genuinely interested in being a real friend. Just love her casual realness.
To me, this is more about Kim Bum living up to the expectations. If he’s good, this will be hot and hilarious.
I will DEFINITELY be watching this! Kim Bum = MINE! *lol* And JB, you definitely got it right, Kim Bum does have noona appeal! Allow me to quote my favorite line from Dream (and yes, I know I’m the only one who liked that show) “What’s the big deal? I’m your noona.”
Lol… Kim So Eun was in “The man who can’t get married”
Kim Bum now is in “The woman who still wants to marry…”
haha.. sorry I really find this two ironic…
WOO HOO! Score one for the ICOMYM club!
Serious ajumma appeal, too.
#7 langdon813 cum the president
LOL! That’s exactly what I thought when I read the article. You are definitely our president LOL! Hope Kim Bum pull this through.. so I will definitely wait for the drama!
Kim Bum, you’re going in the right path when you try to please us noonas!
“Either way, it’s a great way to stir younger viewer interest while also satisfying the drama’s target base, since Kim Bum has serious noona appeal.” He does! He does! HE DOESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! lol.. i definitely think that he owns that noona appeal!
i can’t wait to see this project come to the screen!!
this Noona is definitely interested. *nod nod*
Awesome!!!!
Well Jang Geun Suk also mentioned that he wants to do another rom-com and be a “younger boyfriend”, why not he join this drama too?!
Imagine two eye-candies, Kim Bum and Jang Geun Suk, in one drama being noona-ed, omg I’m going to faint already.
adding one interested noona…
Cooool!
yeah, 12 years, a great inspiration for us ICOMYM members.
okay…so maybe I’m a little late on this, but what exactly does ICOMYM stand for? I keep reading it and now I’m interested haha
@ 6
Lol, can we say “seoulmates”?
Do you need to watch the 2004 one to understand this one?
@ 14 linz
“Inappropriate Crushes On Much Younger Men”
@etnet,
“Well Jang Geun Suk also mentioned that he wants to do another rom-com and be a “younger boyfriend”
Then again, JGS has been playing “younger boyfriend” pretty much his entire career.
Jo In Sung is and will probably always be The King of Noona Killers, but JGS, Kim Bum and Lee Seung Gi will all make runs for the crown.
Eom Ji Won, Wang Bit Na, and Park Jin Hee…this will be fun to watch.
Add Kim Bum as the younger boyfriend and langdon813′s fangirly/Pres. squees,
and we’re good to go.
@17 langdon813
Thank you. Even though I’m a card carrying member, I couldn’t remember what the letters stand for and was about ask as well.
another kim-sam-soon alike story?! maybe interesting, anyway.
Finally! A Kim Bum project that piqued my interest.
Too bad I can’t join the noona club since I am like 2 years younger than him ^^ but I will watch this, I watched Dream because of him and I will watch this because of him, even if it is bad!!!
I kinda want to see him being the boy toy!! that would be interesting.
Did these people not learn from BBF that Kim Bum, does not do well with this theme [going out with older women] ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
@Belleza
“Jo In Sung is and will probably always be The King of Noona Killers, but JGS, Kim Bum and Lee Seung Gi will all make runs for the crown.”
Jo In Sung and Lee Seung Gi holds no appeal for me though the korean lady who cuts my hair told me Lee Seung Gi is majorly hot in Korea right now and getting all the CFs. I’m on the fence with Kim Bum (he looks a lot like Im Joo Hwan BTW) but I haven’t seen enough of his work but JGS has always gotten my attention starting with HwangJini and I think he so far has the best acting chops of the 4 mentioned though I’m holding off final judgment until Kim Bum catches up with a larger body of work.
Park Jin-hee is really wonderful in everything I’ve seen her in. Even in terrible stuff like “Please Come Back SoonAe”. I’m really looking forward to this.
@wasabi.
Yeah I know right! That’s what I called SOEULMATES. LOL
anyway, I haven’t seen PJH’s previous projects. So I couldn’t blab about anything about her. But for most of the comments above I think she’s truly a professional and a great actress. So I can’t wait for her to see her acting skill.
As for Kim Bum, I agree he does have this noona appeal for sure! I’m his slave noona, since in BOF he always seems to attract me more than the rest of F3. But knowing that he’s far too young for PJH’s love interest, so I kinda doubt about building up the chemistry between them. I mean helloooooo, 12 years difference? It’s like you’re having affair with your grandma! LOL. XD
And even though I really fall head over heels for Kim Bum, I must admit that he’s acting skill is still a bit raw comparing to his seniors such as Jang Geun Suk and Lee Seung Gi (I acknowledge both great acting skill), and yes, because I’ve watched his previous drama Dream and what I’ve observed that he’s quite overreacted and seems a bit unnatural for me when he’s in Dream. I just hope that he won’t fail portraying his new character in this upcoming drama.
Ah, anyway… Bummie fighting!!
Some guys have all the luck…By the way, I’d have to disagree on Please Come Back Soon-Ae being “terrible.” Terribly funny, yes…terrible, no. I tuned in to watch “Franceska” (Shim Hye Jin) in action again and got to meet the amazingly talented and gorgeous Park Jin Hee. for that, I will be eternally grateful…
Please Come Back Soon-Ae had its share of funny moments especially in the begginng but petered out severely near the end. I thought the best thing about the show was PJH.
Hahaha…toy boy theme, sounds quite familiar? ^___________^
Any up coming drama on “toy girl”?
“Any up coming drama on “toy girl”
Like Brown Eyed Girls?
“Lee Seung Gi is majorly hot in Korea right now ”
Yeah, LSG is the leading noona killer nowadays due to his 1N2D gig and his career as a balladeer (“Noona Is My Woman”) Note: all before Brilliant Legacy. BL took it all to the next level. He’s more an entertainer than an actor, but I thought he was good in BL.
“Noona love” plays beautifully to the demographic. See lazy hubby in man cave, see sweet Kim Bum weeping and romancing older woman. What hubby doesn’t know won’t hurt him . . .
@mayadee,
“I mean helloooooo, 12 years difference? It’s like you’re having affair with your grandma!”
hmmm, since when is your grandma only 12 yrs older than you are? ^^
in real life, there’s an 11.5-year difference (July 89 vs. Jan. 78) between KB and PJH, or almost exactly the same as their characters. To me it looks more like 5-6 yrs. Not that i’m objective ::flashes ICOMYM membership card:: but i think it’s fab that korean dramas are at last showing this kind of relationship. so often older men/younger women is the norm (in drama and in real life). Even an age gap of 1-2yrs is considered problematic in korea ~~ aigu, what DO you call your boyfriend now that he’s not older and therefore not your opah?? ^^ (i remember this very question being asked on YDH Love Letter a couple years ago.)
i love it
“noona killer plan”
hahahhhahhaha!!!
maybe either him or JSG should do the korean remake of “Kimi Wa Petto” lols just a thought.
i love bummie! im a noona already and i die a thousand times just looking at him smile. *spazz*
That picture above isn’t kibum…
No, it’s not Kim Kibum. It’s Kim Bum, the actor who is cast in the drama.
