I sense that belleza is actually a panther disguised as a human. She lies in the shadows, only the pounce when you least expect it, and sometimes stays around to dance a jig or two, and then slinks away to her lair to plot for mayhem until it’s time to pounce again. I’m not surprised our very own b has claimed the #600 comment like she claimed #500 last week. Congrats to belleza~! and OMG, you guys are so chatty this week!
Btw, not to resurrect a dead topic or anything – but how come no one remembered to mention that Lin Minmei was a frippin “beauty queen” in addition to being a popstar. She was crowned Miss. Macross City at the tender age of 16 (barf in bag now). That’s like the nail the started the coffin for me (no offense to beauty queens, but this one indeed had no brains to go along with her beauty). I knew quite young that I wanted to be the smart one simply because I never wanted to be the Minmei of my world.

I have to disagree. Just because she was crowned Miss Macross City doesn’t mean she was a “mere” beauty queen. She is also a fab singer, full of life and hope and bubbles and glitter… Glitter can be a good thing!
And you make it sound like being pretty and cute is negative, rather than, perhaps a physical manifestation of a goal to match one’s character to one’s outward appearance.

Are we going to miss you tomorrow for OT 114 ? I figure that you would be at the theatre watching your movie of your lifetime- Avatar…I used to look forward each Fri for my Avatar….Aang, that is, the Last Air Bender , on Nickelodeon….I think I love that show more than my girls

I vote for the CiTC recaps as well! And the fact that you really really need to watch this. It would be really great for someone to deconstruct CiTC and your analysis/recaps are always interesting and fun to read. Besides it would be a good preview of what to expect with Chuno quality-wise.
I started WISFC…and watched up to episode 5
1) The child actors were great (especially Kim Soo Hyun). And I too wish their arc was a little longer.
2) Go Soo is much better than he was in Green Rose…and the beginning of episode 5 has officially made me a captivated viewer (it was love…I could hear my brain going uh oh she’s a goner…seriously). Not only has he gotten hotter…but I feel like he’s gotten better at emoting his scenes. Like for example when he interrupts HYS when she says she doesn’t remember him, the way he handled it and the way his emotions crossed his face was perfect
3) The overall feeling of the drama reminds me of MiSa, but unlike MiSa which felt like a compelling trainwreck of emotions that we couldn’t turn away from because of the gripping intensity of the story and acting (particularly SJS’s eyes) that eventually crashed leaving us in so much pain (b/c of MiSa I wasn’t able to watch another drama for like two months…ah but it was so worth it). WISFC doesn’t feel as gripping to me yet.
4)While I do feel HYS is the weakest link and I do feel like Go Soo’s presence in their scenes overcompensates for her, she is passable. But that really does raise the question of what if GHJ really had been in this instead of HYS.
It’ll be interesting to see where this goes…

I *Love* It! But that doesn’t mean I’m so easily swayed, remember my mantra, brains before beauty – hee, my husband would so laugh at me right now, here’s out typical conversation:
Me: hey honey who decided to freeze his ass in Boston for 4 years instead of in balmy Palo Alto – what’cha reading?
Crimson Calpoo double stinky hubby: Hhmmm, a book about the rise and destruction of Easter Island.
Me: Ohhhhhh, is that the island where Easter bunnies come from? I remember learning about it in 4th grade.
CCDSH: *turns to look at me* They really let just about anyone attend Stinkfoo, don’t they? *pats me on head* Don’t worry, just don’t repeat that anywhere, and you can still be a pretty effective lawyer.
Me: *cocks head to side* OPW, giggles.
I actually let him think he knows everything, cuz that’s how my marriage stays totally amazing, cuz then I always get my way.
So, dearest kb, the NPW is nice, I enjoyed it, but I am unfortunately not swayed. Bora must die so that Binnie can finally let go of all the grief associated with that family and finally embrace his destiny – to be a criminal underlord.
Also, dear kb, I might mention that I am the yougest in my family, the youngest in my extended family of 28 male cousins and 2 female, and really, I’m the sole purveyor of the OPW in my house. Sorry cutie, Bora is happily in Lapland if that is any consolation, wearing really nice furry winter whites.

If Minmei wrote that amazingly addictive song, then I’ll eat my shorts. If she wrote that song, then she’s a Chinese Taylor Swift, and then I’ll agree to reassess her, maybe.
Thanks for making me hum that tune in 10 seconds flat just by reading the lyrics. Minmei’s songs were just……galactically transformative.

*Best* *Christmas* *Present* *Ever*!
You are so lucky. Do you know that they re-ran the entire Robotech saga in LA back in the 80s, they ran all three generations, and immediately re-ran it again starting with the Macross Saga. I suppose the response was so overwhelming, and with no Youtube or online videos, too many folks boarded the ship late so missed out on the earlier episodes.
Well, my sister decided to *record* the entire series the second time around, so every weekday afternoon, one of us would have to turn on the TV and VCR and press record when it started and end during commercials (if we weren’t being lazy) or end at the end of the episode. And that one was us was usually me, since I was in middle school, and the high schoolers had after school activities.
I was probably the ONLY household in 100 mile radius that owned the Robotech collection on VHS tapes after the series was done. We were very very popular, and chasing down delinquent borrowers because a crucial task for all of us.
I watched RB so many times, usually the Macross Saga when I was growing up, it’s magical. Sigh, good times, good times. I’m asking for Christmas…….a electric toothbrush. For my newly pretty teeth. Brains working for beauty’s sake, no?

This post has been brought to you by the, ahem…AWESOME cocktails I had at a Christmas party tonight. From which I returned home over an hour ago, if that tells you anything, like how many times I had to retype this to make it coherent. In the season of holiday cheer – I must tell you, the Bora with you was the Bora of Christmas past. In all her glorious phantomy self.
I tease, I tease, if you got Bora in physical form besides you, then it was Bora’s given up for adoption older by 5 minutes twin because her daddy was poor when she waz born, and her mommy died giving birth to the twins, and the younger twin Bora got entangled up in the umbilical cord so has a heart problem, and the poor daddy now with 3 kids can’t afford to raise then since Bora needs extra money and care, so he gives up the older and healthy twin to a lovely American couple visiting from Mississippi, who promptly leaves Korea and returns to grande ole MS with their bundle of joy they name Nora (whoah with the coincidences), who grows up sweet, caring, considerate, warm to others, and one days encounters you at a Christmas party. And you mistake her for Bora, especially since she has a special speech impediment whereby when she pronounces N’s, it sounds like B’s. Plus you’re totally drunk so you are hearing out of one ear anyway. So you think Nora is Bora.
And Nora will soon meet a certain disheveled Korean math professor at a hotel in Vegas, become intrigued with him, cross paths, then she gets hired to do a major M&A takeover of a Korean University, so she returns to Korea to help with the acquisition, lives at the faculty dorms of the University, sees the professor name Tae-woong is teaching there, and embarks on her journey to find her birth parents. TW is torn between his dead love Bora and look-a-like Nora, who turns out to be twins. Oh, and I just bastardized Hotelier and What Star are You From, and it feels so good.

On top of being beauty queen and popstar… I asked my bro and my hubby the allure of Lin MM:
She took a shower and she’s naked. (yup, ‘full of life and hope and bubbles and glitter’)
So yes, it’s of utmost importance she has a brain, can string tog words and sing a tune or 2.

See, that’s what everyone THINKS, but the truth is that all of that was nothing but an article in a newspaper, while the real Bora is alive and well and waiting for me to cough up enough cash to get us both to Korea (thank God she knows the language, what with all the -sshi’s and -ah’s and -nim’s and OMG). There she will finally reunite with her beloved math professor (and reintroduce her killer wardrobe to a more suitable climate).
Also, in a beautiful moment of serendipity, surrounded by a plethora of Kpop idols to serenade the occasion, Lee Min-ki will finally meet his I LUB YOU (who is ME, ME, ME, ME)!

My brother and I were glued to the couch for every episode of Robotech when it originally aired. We didn’t record it – I think this was before we got our Betamax (yes, we had a Betamax long before we got a VHS). But it was our crack.

I got bored with IRIS epi 1, so I came back to OT, where my dear @langdon was blitzed….and WOW @ ockoala, that was FUNNY…but how did you do it??? I mean I was reading your ENTIRE script , and I didn’t- no, couldn’t stop to breathe!!!
I think @Samsooki is either in dreamland or he’s totally ignoring our plead for him to watch CITC….all I can say is….PLEASE give it a try, my friend….Sorry, I won’t do the noona card with him, and No way on NPW….I know, Doctor’s order- @ Samsooki : You need to take (watch) 8 (episodes) of CITC and (please) report back to me after, and only after completion of such course (viewing)…arms crossed, giving him a serious look…scribbling the Rx as I speak….

We had a Betamax, too. And it was the most awesome device. The triumph of the VHS is a technological shame for the human race. You reminded me, we recorded on our Beta, and we finally had no choice but to switch to VHS, cuz they didn’t sell Betas anymore and ours was on its last legs (thanks to copious drama and Robotech watching). I ended up recording all our Beta Robotech tapes into VHS format, upon which our long-suffering Beta which served us so well promptly got up, shook its fist, and then self-combusted.

I wrote my Nora-Bora or Bora-Nora story in less than 5 minutes with non-stop typing and shouting over my shoulder “Go to sleep….if I have to go over there…..” at the boy koala in bed. Can you tell how much I missed you guys and OT?

So…I just finished epi 1….it was …okay. I mean it took me more than 1 1/2 hr to watch it because I couldn’t get into it. I paused it and went over to my Hubby and chatted about daily mundane ( which caught him by surprise..”who are you, lady?..you couldn’t be my wife…she never talk with us after dinner because the laptop and her become 1…we never dare to talk to her because she would give us the stink eye…he he)
Anyhoo, I hope the drama gets better. I got to say though, LBH is cute- the typical bad boy (looove the shooting range part…classic bad boy’s move)
Ok guys…I think this OT must be a record… 600+ posts…would love to stay and chat, but Mr. Sandman is calling me, and I have to be semi-intelligent at work…have a great weekend , and I will see you all on OT114. We can resume harassing @Samsooki there about watching CITC
