I think this ought to make a few people happy! Im Joo-hwan is in the February issue of men’s magazine Arena, and he’s looking pretty good.
One article calls the look masculine and even “macho,” but I think he looks more pretty to me. You know, while some fashion mag shoots have interesting concepts (like the “dangerous moment”) or cute ones (Smile’s holiday stars), to be honest most of them elude me. Im Joo-hwan’s falls into that category; he’s supposed to evoke “a fantasy feeling” as a showroom mannequin. O…kay. (I suppose that’s better than the pretty vampire holding saucepans?)
Im Joo-hwan, who was last in MBC’s fusion sageuk Tamra the Island, will next be seen leading the campus drama What’s Up.

Wow, first! I’m an early bird ^_^ hehehe. Anywho, I like Im Juhwan…although I’m not for musical dramas.
Team Park Kyu!
Oh thankyouthankyouthankyou, JB. What a wonderful way to start my day.
Im Joo-hwan was a model before he turned to acting, and I find his glamour shots just a tad bit more edgy that most of the k-actors. But he’s still just soooo cute.
Sigh, content now.
Oh, so pretty! Nice arms…Thanks JB!
the pama is nice, the warehouse shot with the duct tape… not sure how that’s masculine. at first i thought he was standing in front of a microwave oven on sale…
Masculine, this??? Hehe, the Chuno men are masculine. What do the Koreans call them?
I couldn’t think what the first pic reminded me of and it just hit me, it’s the Korean Tom Sawyer! Is that bow tie made of paper?
it kind of bugs me how he’s not looking in the camera for any of his shots, always looking down and away. it might be that he was supposed to look tough, but it makes him look afraid and depressed.
i think he looks more like the johnny boys concept of masculine (japanese), rather than the western concept.
loved him in tamra, though.
He kind of looks . . . contemplative in most of those shots. A mannequin that’s brooding. It’s kinda intense.
But I think I’m supposed to be staring at the clothes. . . so is it a bad thing that I can’t seem to stop staring at his face? And in that second shot, for some reason he reminds me of an Asian Edward Cullen, minus the sparkles. And I KNOW that can’t be right. . .
I don’t know why the editors or the reporters label the concept of some of his photos as “macho” or “masculine” when he actually looks more feminine than his usual self in these kinds of magazine photos.
I’m just pleased to see his nicely toned arms. He looks like a cute puppy with his pama hair ^^
OMG sooooo cute! ^_^ I love his pictures!
Love his hairstyle in the 2nd photo.
*Wipes drool* Joohwan is lovely to look at. Can’t wait to see him in What’s Up.
You can watch his interview with Arirang TV during this photoshoot here (around 1:20): http://www.arirang.co.kr/Player/TV_Player.asp?code=VOD&asx_HL=High&Prog_Code=TVCR0112&vod_key=52351
@ langdon813
can’t stop laughing. Tom Sawyer — that’s IT!! and agree: nice arms. But even for a ICOMYM member, i say he’s way too young. ^^ (just checked: he’s not that young [1982] actually, but he sure looks young!)
@ paula523
LOL! Yeah, IJH is 3 years older than my I LUB YOU, so he definitely fits the criteria. I’d say anyone under 18 falls into the “pending” category; i.e. Yoo Seung-ho. I have to draw the line at jailbait.
Huh. When I saw the second pic, I thought he could very well play Night in the k-remake of Zettai Kareshi. Then I saw the other shots, and…well, maybe not. XD
@5 Artemis
LOL True!
macho??? nah…but he looks adorable!
I’d buy a microwave or a ferry trip across the Mississippi from him.
TEAM PARK KYU & TEAM IM2, FIGHTING!!!!
yay! Team PK!!!! yum
thanks JB!!
yeah i don’t get korean magazine concepts sometimes.
I like the little Dior book tucked into his pocket in the last picture. LOL. And I also do not understand this “concept.” Doesn’t evoke any of the described. Whatever. I’m happy looking at Im Joohwan.
Team Park Kyu!! I can not wait for What’s Up. That dramas is eating away at my existence, seriously. And it hasn’t even started yet. What’s wrong with me?!
hmmm…
i was thinking the “concept” was more along the lines of “pretty boy-turned-industrial worker”… what do you think JB?
either way, me likey!
and like others above, i also CANNOT WAIT for “what’s up”!!!!
I don’t really care what they do with the concept/ clothes/ photoshoot etc etc… I just love Im Ju Hwan.. dreamy…sigh…
It doesn’t matter to me what the concept/clothes/photo shoot is, I just love and adore Im Ju Hwan. He is beautiful no matter what with a fun personality to boot! Plus bear in mind the concept, clothes and set design is not up to the model and the publisher ultimately chooses which image poses they like.
@langdon813,
oh yeah, under 18 is well, i really don’t like to do the math on that one, let along think about the legal angles. ^^
“3 years older than my I LUB YOU”
keke. Uh, i’m embarrassed to ask this so long after the fact, but can you remind me who exactly is I LUB YOU? somehow i missed the post when you ID’d him. See, I’d hate to claim him accidentally, not realizing whom he really belongs to… gomawayo!
@14
YES! He is older than me.
In regards to “whats up”, I can’t wait until it is no longer just a greeting!!!!!!!
langdon’s “I Lub You” is none other than “get your bloody hands off him” Lee Min-ki. Best known for charming the skirts of Chae Rim in Dalja’s Spring.
Team Park Kyu represent!
@5 artemis. You’re absolutely right! I guess it’s because Im Joo Hwan is really skinny that he doesn’t seem masculine but his gazes does
seem intense. But if Oh Ji Ho and Jang Hyuk were to pose in a magazine as you suggest, I would only have one word: Beast.
he was a model before he act right?? as i recall he, Lee Min Ki and Kim Dong Wan were friends in their modeling days…
to all chunojummah (and chunoajusshi), http://sookyeong.wordpress.com/2010/01/21/double-strong-charisma-from-actor-janghyuk-and-im-juhwan/
go Team Park Kyu!!!
@26 ockoala,
rats! i mean…thanks! for answering for langdon. ^^ i was afraid that was the answer. =.=;;; lee minki is the youngest on my swoon list — loved him in both Dalja’s Spring and Evasive Inquiry Agency (i wish someone who’s bilingual would give the latter a better English title).
TEAM PARK KYU from lil me in HKG….good to see all my sisters…@langdon, ockoala, lovenyc52, hjkomo, paula253 supporting IJH
Uh huh…my spidey sense was tingling! I was at a restaurant about to dive into my meal when it hit me (although I suspected samsooki).
But then I relaxed. I knew ockoala would look out for me!

Hey cingdoc, come home safely, we miss you!
YAY!!!!!!!! He’s amazingly adorable *drools*. On the 2nd pic he looks like Kim Bum, isnt it?
Cant wait for Whats Up. I <3 U…
wow! Really make me so happy to see him in these photo shots. He looks so good in them. Can’t wait for What’s Up to start filming.
Thank you for the cool pics!!!!!
I don’t really know how to appreciate these fashion photoshoots really … he’s supposed to be a mannequin?
I like the third picture best…ha ha shall go turn it into an avatar for my MSN….*LOL
The rest of the pics are nice…but does he look manly…mm…no…think he’s too slim to look MANLY…but he does look boyishly cool…
Can’t wait to see him in What’s Up…though I would rather see PK in a Tamna sequel…
Does anybody think that Im Joo-Hwan has a similar look to Joe Cheng? When watching Tamra, I kept comparing him to Zhi Shu of ISWAK although the two characters are way too different age-wise.
@ epyc
I don’t think IJH and Joe look alike, but I do think that Park Kyu and Zhi-shu are remarkable similar in character-types. Which is why I love both guys, and both actors, so much.
I agree epyc I got the similar impression in fact I think he would make a good iriekun for the Korean version of ISWAK for exactly that reason. He also has a similar off screen behaviour playful like Joe.He is very sweet to his on screen female like Joe too is with Ariel.
@epyc, ockoala and hyall
Both Joe Cheng and IJH started out as model. Both are very tall for asian. They both have this smirk expression that are very deadly; they acted in roles that are very similar ( zhi-shu and Park Kyu)….. not to mention that they are both very pleasing to my eyes….
Go TEAM Park Kyu!
go,go,go im ju hwan!!!!!!no matter what will happen i’m just here to support you!!!!!!just keep your feet on the ground and head on the sky….k???you will always be my hyandari!!!no saranghae!!!!!!from now on,i will call you hyung-nim.k!???hyung-nim,wait 4 me there in korea!!!
Nothing macho about his post in the pics though. He looks pretty. I love him anway
