Two years late cuz I didn't even know kdrama existed when Chuno was aired. But I truly appreciate your analysis of HCW's motives. Chuno is my favorite, all-time drama of over fifty and HCW was the very first assassin I ever cried over. It dumbfounded me! Your explanation makes so much sense. Thanks. (If only dramabeans would finish recapping)

What would I do without these recaps? This is my third viewing. I'd never have caught the connection between the Left Minister and the slave revolt because he was the one who knew about the thousand nyang note. Grrrrr and more grrrrrr.

Before, I thought LDH had been shortchanged in the writing department. But, this time, I'm catching the very subtle ways in which she shows iniciative (offering to continue alone, questioning him about his background, smiling at his getting them lost) right up to the daring allegation of "conjugal nuptials" with TH. She remains firm in her determination, she's not going back!

Then again, it's hard to watch LDH so subdued and demure after watching her in Robbers. Like, when TH grabbed her throat at the beginning of their sojourn, she could've protested: "Hey! WT...! Here I've taken care of your sorry ass and you try to STRANGLE ME??!!" Oh, well.

Thanks for the recaps and the comments.

i liked this episode...there must be about four or five subplots or side stories going on that are going to converge...the pairings at the end was sweet and i hope the slave couple get together too, but it looks like they are being used by the evil nobleman who will probably last until the final epi....i like the guy who plays his son-in-law. i saw him in the dance in the sky drama with jjm. he has presence...his story is interesting given his wife's condition, which is a first for me in k-dramas.

and yes, the ending where both damsels drop something and only one picks up what she drops signifying that perhaps when she leaves, he wants her to go away with what she came with not losing anything or ...treating her like one of the gang and he would do the same for the others in the group. as for TH, i don't think he noticed being in shock of what just took place surrounding her lie and the possibilty of it becoming truth...anyway, i like how she is learing military strategy and survival skills from him, because she lacks them even though HW is intelligent. she wants to be able to engage him conversationally, but he is too exacting at this point, but i think that is about to change and more intimate conversations are forthcoming between the two.

i like how the writers are showing how HW is paving the way for her own happiness as she told her bros she would be.

Funny, funny recap, samsooki.

I think I laughed more than I should reading your recap considering the heavy, heady stuff happening, but levity and a suspension of disbelief is warranted in such a tragic tale.

Anyways, Poor Choco! Too bad Choco doesn't have any identifying markers on him so that DG can find him later and realize that he's on the right track to finding UN, or at least getting back his rock.

@53 Sakura -

Since the you-tube clip is really Episode 9 behind the scenes stuff and we've not gotten there in the recaps yet (this is Episode 7 recap), this comments section isn't the place to discuss it. After Ep 9, I'd be happy to summarize tho, basically, its standard behind the scenes stuff. Discussing the scenes, characters, how they feel about them, etc.

Here's my take. The last scene is supposed to make us feel sad because we know that what it implies and promises can not come true. It appears that each couple is a couple. We see that DG is a kind man (picks up dropped instrument) and should be a great partner for SH, BUT... And we see that TH is a strong and noble man and can be a great support to UN whom he loves, BUT... In our heart of K-drama hearts, we know that DG and UN still pine for each other, and that they will never get over their Thwarted Love, and this will haunt them and hunt them down and bring Tragedy upon everyone's heads.

We feel sad for SH because while she receives his kindness and care, we know she will never receive his heart (Bah! More fool him!). We feel sad for DG because he is locked in the past and unable to move on. And we feel sad for TH & UN because UN's heart will be broken by the loss of her stone (no, sadly, I don't think she is letting go - just setting herself up for heartbreak, silly wench) and TH's heart will be broken because while UN will be forever grateful to him, she will never give him his heart. Sigh.

Anyway, great recap, S! Thanks!
